Klopp seems to have been a miserable bugger this season. Always moaning about decisions etc. Hope these latest comments about him not picking transfers isn't the beginnings of a falling out with the club.

Klopp is the best thing to happen to this club. He entitled to a little latitude. He’s accepting responsibility for poor performances when a number of the players should be ashamed. It’s clear as day when need 1 or 2 reinforcements.

Which is why we’ve down tools. Dragged ourselves to Christmas and now the club won’t buy a CB so the players and manager have chucked It.
I said this repeatedly. A lot of fans on here dwell in a red Tint dream-world and watch a different game, it’s plain obvious which only a few fans can grasp.

You can repeat the downed tools theory as many times as you like, but it still doesn't add up for me. If our players were of such fragile mentality, we wouldn't have won anything with them in the first place. We didn't strengthen the first team at the start of 19/ 20 and nearly everyone thought we'd missed our chance to overhaul City as a result. Why didn't they down tools then? Could it be because the idea that they've downed tools now isn't some elementary truth that only the deluded can't see?

But let's say you're right. I presume you want Klopp out and the squad gutted then? It's the only solution if you're right isn't it? Cos if they have downed tools, then we obviously have a manager with no control over the dressing room and a group of players who think they can check out of their responsibilities when it suits them. Sure we could solve it in the short term by borrowing another £50m against the club's future earnings to buy Diego Carlos, but what about next time they "down tools"? The theory implies a toxic dressing room and the only solution to that would be to gut it. Nevermind that such toxicity is not supported by anything else we've ever seen from this squad. So throw the lot out. Best team we've had for 30 years? Irrelevant. We've had a bad month, they must be quitters. Out they go and Klopp with them.

That seems like a proportionate reaction to a month of football to me. Definitely no knee jerking going on there.

So instead of writing 3 paragraphs about my point what is the problem SRed? Here comes the excuses about the Var or the Refs. Or isit the fact we miss our fans more? Or isit because Jota is injured. Are we still In a “blip”? If so when do we stop calling it a blip isit Sunday or Spurs? Embarrassing Excuses

It’s clear we’re both concerned about Liverpool at the moment and something is not right. But I’m failing to see another poster who’s given a valid reason why we were top at Christmas and basically haven’t scored since never mind won.

23 Jan 2021 11:55:47
Players don't "down tools" because a CB hasn't been purchased. For me its just a daft statement.

23 Jan 2021 11:51:33
Klopp is perfectly correct in what he has said. The issue isn't about what was said, more about how people try to interpret his comments.

I have to say LFC8 that I agree more with SR's post than yours. And, by the way your post didn't include any solutions either.

In my opinion, the solution will only come when we have a team with all the players consistently playing in their right positions.

Utd are currently top, but where would they be with Maguire and Bailly out for the season and Pogba and Fernandes playing n the back 4.

Whatever anyone says we have been decimated by injuries this season and have fielded around 15/ 16 different CB partnerships.

I know things are very frustrating right now, and I am one of the worst persons to be around when we lose.

Anyway, we are all entitled to our opinions, and that's very much how it should be.

100% agree KBL. Opinions is what footballs all about and why this site is the best out there because it gets across different views.
My solution to this is work twice as hard, double training sessions, after all, putting it right on the training pitch is always the answer. Effort.

23 Jan 2021 12:42:59
Won't disagree with your solution though.

Luck plays a huge part in team sport.
In the 70s and 80s when we were winning the league year after year we had plenty of it, Man Utd throughout the 90s and 00s had plenty of it.
Last couple of seasons we had plenty of it.
In the last month we have had plenty of bad luck.
Teams that get relegated usually do not have any good luck.
If we all keep our fingers crossed tomorrow, we can beat Man U with a gifted penalty.
We have quality players it is only a matter of time.
The season isn't finished there is still loads to play for YNWA.

Jesus. everyone has imploded on here! 😂😂😂😂.

Doesn't seem to be much point in telling you what I think the problem is, LFC8, since you've already decided that anything that doesn't agree with your view is red tinted glasses and embarrassing excuses. You can't really expect answers from other people whilst telling them in advance that they're deluded.

But I'm a nice guy, so I'll humour you. I think it's a case that constantly having to chop and change the squad, especially in defense and midfield where all our build up comes from has caught up with us for a couple of games. Klopp has more or less never rotated key players so the team was always consistent and the understanding natural. This season we've struggled to field the same team twice in a row, and that's impacted our performances, especially in terms of getting the ball forward to the front men in good areas before the opposition defence has a chance to set. It got in the heads of some of the players now, so they keep to engineer the perfect shot or chance because they're not sure when the next opportunity is going to come along. I've said it a few times that there's nothing natural about the way they're playing in the top the third lately, it's all forced and trying too hard. It's two or three players trying to walk a goal in around 6 defenders in rather than just taking a man or a shot on.
But hey, I'm sure I'm just deluded or have dyed my eyeballs red or something.

My view aside, you're the one suggesting that the same players who've rightly been praised for their strong mentality over the past 2 years spontaneously gave up on the 27th of December because we didn't make a signing. Why haven't they waited until the end of January when the window is closed and there's no player? If they knew or suspected in advance no one would come, why didn't they give up sooner? That's before we get into the broader implications about the players your suggestion makes that isn't backed up by literally anything we've seen from them over the past 3 years, or get into the fact that there isn't an obvious lack of trying on the pitch.

It's up to you to back your statement up, and all you've got to back it up is 5 games. It doesn't add up. That's the reality of it, sorry.

23 Jan 2021 15:37:45
They’ve given up bang on the exact date which suggests my theory. Not 5 games I said it after 3, I’ve given you a reason early, I’m not coming on here after the United or Spurs game and saying this when the rest of the fans realise.
I hope your right but I can just ask you the same question. Why has it imploded after Christmas then? Etc
SRed I love this club like you, the majority of these players are head and shoulders above everyone else in the league in my opinion. Even without Van Dijk. It’s the effort that’s gone. Nothing to do with your theory of chopping and changing players because I was there 3 nil down to Barcelona with a decimated team, when that same mish mash of players won the best semi final come back in recent history. It’s effort mate.

23 Jan 2021 16:50:52
So the whole team and manager has ‘downed tools’ and ‘chucked it’ because the club hasn’t signed a CB in the midst of the biggest worldwide financial crisis in 75 years?
You should take up comedy LFC8 that’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in years!
We are just going through a poor run of form in front of goal. Nothing more than that but your version sounds a lot more dramatic I’ll give you that 😂.

23 Jan 2021 16:59:25
There is no crisis. Our players still work hard. In many of the recent games our front 3 were pressing like mad. There is no lack of effort. Just poor execution.

There is clearly a mental toll. I think our squad has taken the biggest toll of the C.V. because the stresses they have been through since the Kiev final until the day the league was clinched were unreal, and they haven't really been able to celebrate. It's incredibly difficult to perform at such high levels for so long without the euphoria of crowds and bus top rides and meeting friends and family.

One by one the players will get over their mental blocks and the team will click.
