We've had three really good years and maybe we're now those years are taking their toll. We've been lucky with injuries, our form and consistency has been incredible and we've had a bit of luck too.
I wouldn't change those three years though. The League, finally, and another European Cup?
It could be that we just need a freshen up because we can't keep relying on what has worked so well recently. It couldn't go on forever and we were always going to get some big injuries or have a few big players lose form. Even both.
And Klopp isn't going to be around forever and we don't what will happen when he goes.
We're still Champions with a Champion manager, just enjoy them and support them.

Support comes in many forms mate. Some fans will think everything is still great, some will think it’s a blip, others will be concerned with how things are whilst some will be raging and coming out with all sorts. Every one of those will still be passionate and care about the club. People vent in different ways. It’s the beauty of being a football fan. For 90 mins we’re all the same and willing our team to win.

{Ed025's Note - cracking post JK..

But football doesn't stand still you always need to improve.

I think a freshen up is exactly what is needed.

Our 2 best games were Atalanta 5-0 and Palace 7-0. We didn't start the front 3 together in either. Minamino and Jota both added unpredictability and an intensity into each game. Taki with his relentless pressing and tight control against Palace, Jota with his direct running and willingness to take shots on against Atalanta.

Are any of our players bad individually? Not really. The tried and tested isn't clicking though and i don't think its wrong to highlight that. We looked like scoring against Burnley until Salah and Firmino came on. Pope was worked at least 5 times in the first half, and we hit the bar After the normal front 3 were reunited i can only remember 1 shot on target.

Pretty certain Salah had a shot saved at the near post and Bobby had one deflected around the post which for me, apart from Origi's howler were our best chances.

Where do you see the money coming in MK. As per WY Red we don’t have a penny to spend. That won’t change in 4 months. Sell to buy is okay but who in their right mind would by most of our fringe players? Bobby is old and is unique meaning he won’t find a suitor. Nobody can afford Salah. Who are we about to sell for a massive money for the rebuild?

23 Jan 2021 12:46:05
Somebody will find the money for Salah. The writing is on the wall when you listen to his interviews and what his mates say in the media. Keita and Origi should go. Gini's wages off the books. Grujic, Wilson, Karius, Awoniyi will all go.

We don't need a massive rebuild. We have some great young players. Trent will find his feet, Jones and Elliott should kick on. Squad needs a freshener not stripping back to the bones.

It makes you wonder where we would be financially without 2 Champions League Finals and 2 top 2 Premier League finishes?
Possibly no Fabinho, Shaqiri, Keita, Jota, Thiago?
But we would still have the majority of our best first 11.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not paid for Jota or Thiago yet.}

Firmino is 29 years old. Hardly ancient!

I'm not saying fans shouldn't be frustrated. There's always room for improvement but we need some context.
In the summer, I wanted a top class centre half. We didn't, we freshened up the front three and midfield and I raised an eyebrow.
VvD gets injured and I'm thinking how right I was. Gomez gets injured and I know how right I was. Thiago injured also weakens an area where we did strengthen.
Fab does a fab job in the back four and Jota is banging in the goals and I'm thinking maybe I wasn't right. Even if the midfield is weakened further.
Matip gets injured and Jota gets injured and I'm left thinking I don't think anyone could have got this right in the present economic climate.

We all wanted a cb in the summer Rigsby, along with a creative spark, a lb and competition for the front three.
We got 3 out of 4 and we thought not getting a cb would bite us but we didn't think we would lose 2 of the 3 cbs for the season.
Its left us in a scenario where we have 1 cb who misses every other game (feels that way) and fab doing a wonderful job back there but taking away from our midfield.
January is always a hard window and external factors have made it harder.
But that has been compounded by our front three having their worst run of form together leaving us goal shy.
I trust the club to work out what's best and we just need to see how it plays out.

With you there, WR. We got 3 of our 4 targets this summer do IMO, that is a good window esp with Thiago and Jota improving us right off the bat. I also remember many on here saying we were good to go with Fab as 4th choice and like you said, NOBODY could have foreseen what would happen to VVD and Big Joe. That is just the hand we were dealt. What I hate is people on here rewriting history like they knew this would happen in the way it did.

As for the OP’s comment, I felt the Burnley game was like the end of something in terms of the way we played. Like the end of an era for this awesome group of players who have given their lives to this club for three years or more and have nothing left in the tank. Could b wrong but that is how I felt and part of me was fine with that. Still half a season left so let’s see what happens.

I’ve been analysing our current predicament and I’ve come to the following conclusion. This is not just blind faith I’m basing my views on what this team has shown they can do consistently for a long time and what I’m seeing on the pitch lately.

I’d be more worried if we were conceding loads of goals. As it is during this bad run we’ve conceded 2 from set pieces and a dubious penalty which came from a set piece. In open play we are pretty solid and teams will target set pieces because you have to leave your own 18 yard box occasionally if you want to score in open play which even Utd were not willing to do against us.

We are suffering from a lack of cohesion due to players being off form, injured players being in and out and just trying to force it too much.

The forwards will start scoring again. If you think they won’t then I’m sorry but you are just wallowing in a pit of self pity. Can you honestly say that Mane is a bad player? Or Salah? They are world class forwards who have proved it over a long period. We are top scorers in the league. These players have consistently scored for 4 years. They will definitely score again and when they do we will win because we don’t concede.
I know people will say we are shot or teams have sussed us out but that’s just not understanding the game or human nature. Teams have tried to suss us out over the last 3 years but we always found a way. We will find ways again. The low block is nothing new.

The league is not gone. No team will do what us and City have done over the last 3 years and that’s been proven by the inconsistency of ever team in the league this season. A half decent run puts you top. Everton, Southampton, Leicester, Spurs, City, Liverpool and Utd have all been there. It will change many times between now and the end of the season.
