I feel a little more positive after last night's game. We scored two great goals and conceded 3 stupid, totally avoidable ones. But conceding to stupid mistakes, right now, seems a bit better than conceding to bad luck. Although I must say Utd were really sluggish for parts of the game and Maguire was having a shocker, so we should have really punished them.

Three things I took away from the game.

1. It was good to see some fluency return to our play further up the field. If we had two imposing CBs, we would have won that game easily.

2. Thiago shows class but it would have been much better if we had a full squad with Fab and Hendo available to play in the midfield, which would have allowed Klopp to bed Thiago into our way of playing rather than being thrust into the first team straightaway. He is a magical player but he gives the ball away in dangerous areas-something our strongest midfield setup rarely did.

3. The club should seriously think about getting a CB in this window, even if on loan. If we can get Hendo and Fab playing in the midfield alongside Thiago, the 6 point gap at the top of the table will be crushed in no time. I have no idea who we can bring, but we desperately need an urgent solution.

We've had 25 days to get a CB, so I don't expect one in the last 6 days of this window, which is very disappointing from the owners.

A poster on our page made a very good point. Thiago is pure class and clearly a wonderful footballer, but he slows everything down and much of your success has been built on high speed, and energy pressing and passing. So good as he is, does he fit in your team? The evidence suggests not.

{Ed001's Note - it is not true. He does not slow the play down at all, absolute bunkem from pundits with no insight. The problem is that he can't defend and he is playing a defensive role. He is constantly looking to move the ball quickly forward.}

OP, I too felt a bit positive and your pos. points are more than valid. As for Utd, this is why they don't come out and play vs the big boys or vs anyone period. They get absolutely battered in terms of play cos they have no fluid system.

We were above average at best and nowhere near our standards yet could have won the game and some of our play was actually nice to watch. This is where they will fail, IMO.

As for us, I loved seeing Salah make those penetrating runs and took his goals very well. Low on confidence? Did not look like it. Bobbie also showed flashes of his brilliant self with those tricks vision and link up play that opened Utd up for the two goals. Something we can defo. build on. As for mistakes, Williams needs to learn and learn quickly cos he keeps making the same mistake multiple time. That simply won't fly and Trent is struggling mightily. On to Spurs.

What is with all this Thiago bashing. He had had C.V. and an injury and is trying to settle into a new time which is disjointed with injuries. He is also playing a defensive role which is not best suited to him. He has not been sensational, but he has shown his ability and class in glimpses. The problem is VVD, Gomez and Matio are out, so the midfield is lacking its bite with the absence of hendo and Fabinho.
Also, he didn’t duck it looked like he tried to get his head on it, but I haven’t watched it back so might be wrong.

{Ed0666's Note - you cannot argue with stupid Todd it’s a fact of life.

Man of todd, it is just people seeking an agenda. I read on SM a poster said Klopp made a mistake in signing Thiago instead of focusing on a CB. Like the Ed said, you cannot argue with these types of people. They will always drag your level of intelligence down a couple of notches.
