On the assumption that only Matip VVD and Gomez are out for the city game who's our CB pairing? Personally I would still assume hendo and fabinho at the back in this game? But then do we try bring in the new boys during a champ league knockout game?

I'd prefer to see Hendo at the back out of him and Fab. I've been really impressed with Hendo there (Fab been brilliant as well) . Only a guess though but i think Klopp will have Fab at the back with Hendo in midfield. Either way having 1 of Hendo or Fab back in midfield is a bonus. For me i think Phillips deserves to keep his place so will all depend how he gets on against Brighton. I think Wijnaldum is massively underappreciated and Milner been brilliant in midfield the last 2 games so who drops out to accommodate Hendo/ Fab back into midfield? Or does Klopp throw a curve ball and start Hendo/ Fab at the back or even throw one of the new lads straight in at the deep end.
All selection dilemma's for Klopp but positive ones rather than the harder ones he's had this season so far.

Personally I don't think klopp would trust Phillips in this game. You're going to be up against a front 3 that's all under 5"8 and quick and nippy. Based on Phillips wasn't used at all in games against players like this earlier in the season even with Williams getting the nod ahead of him, I don't think that suddenly he'll trust Nat in this game?

Either Fab or Hendo can play in midfield. Both must not play at the back.

Agree with everything you say JK apart from perhaps wijnaldum. I'm really starting to be frustrated with him. Not that I think he's played badly at all but I think he can do so much more. His first touch and the first time he lifts his head are almost always with the intention of going backwards or safely keeping the ball. This is why I think playing the 6 actually suits him better as he never gives the ball away really but he rarely makes something happen either which is why I think people say he goes missing in the 8 role. Again not saying he's been bad but I've seen he has the ability to take the ball forward and play more incisive passes and think he could be a hell of a lot better than what he already is which still is very good.

I can see one of the new boys starting against City. Depends how well they do in training until then. Davies played very well against City in the PNE v City cup game.
Kabak is pretty quick but not sure if our defensive line will be as high as usual in that game.
I can't see Phillips or Williams starting. Although I'd be more confident with Phillips based on recent performances.

I agree, 6Times. Before we do anything or say anything about the City game, we have the Brighton game and we HAVE to win that if we want any chance of making the City game relevant. Hence, I think we can go with the Hendo-Phillips partnership while we get Kabak ready for the City game.

I could see Davies and Henderson starting, both speak English wel enough to communicate properly, Davies will be more adjusted to the weather/ country etc I’m happy either way
