Think var is at its worst 2nite! To very soft peno’s and red cards! Why can’t we hear what the ref and assistants are saying.

Agree6 Disagree0

02 Feb 2021 22:16:56
So the first red card was soft? How about the Cavani penalty that wasn’t given after we had put the ball in the net.

Stupid challenge in the 2nd minute, deserved red card. The second red was a disgrace bu the game was well over by then.

02 Feb 2021 22:23:01
Your telling me the first one isn’t not a red card? Studs down his thigh? All I saw on this page for months after the Pickford and richarlison challenge was outrage but you think that challenge wasn’t worthy of a red?

02 Feb 2021 22:32:46
I think the Wolves one was a penalty but should have only been a yellow card. The United one was a clear dive.

02 Feb 2021 22:39:53
Christ you United tourists are defensive, clearly he is talking about the Wolves Luiz red card.

02 Feb 2021 22:41:28
I meant luiz and the 2nd red in the Utd game! Who in the world wouldn’t think the 1st wasnt a red it was a horror tackle! Cavani was tackled outside i thought it was on the line so it’s a peno if u ask me!
Maguire played them on for there goal!
All n all var was a joke and so where the refs!
Score flattered Utd against a depleted team playing with 10 men!

02 Feb 2021 23:01:55
I don't like to back up the opposition lads but I think Jay means the red card in the wolves game, or at least I hope he does!

02 Feb 2021 23:05:27
I think he meant the luiz and bednarek incidents. I doubt many would say that the first Southampton red wasn’t deserved it was an awful tackle.

02 Feb 2021 23:14:58
I think he was quite obviously referring to the David Luiz red card in the arsenal game as absolutely nobody would argue the first red in the united game was anything other than seriously dangerous.

What on earth are you two doing on this page moaning when your team has just won 9-0 🤣 is that not enough?

03 Feb 2021 07:13:13
Jay Dub I think you touched a nerve then mate 🤣.

03 Feb 2021 08:30:29
Sorry jay my bad, hadn’t seen the other game. And I agree the second red against us was a poor decision, not even a foul for me.

03 Feb 2021 08:35:12
I know it’s irrelevant in terms of the result, but I can’t for the life of me see how che adams is offside.

03 Feb 2021 10:05:02
Me neither, Firmane. VAR is complete and utter shambles.

03 Feb 2021 10:20:04
Wow you had some nibbles from the away contingent there mate 😂.

03 Feb 2021 10:46:20
I know it didn't effect the game in the United match but that doesn't excuse the consistently awful use of var. Both decisions last night were wrong (imo I should add as everything is apparently subjective now) and there have been so many more that were wrong this season and it is really ruining my enjoyment of football particularly neutral games. I used to watch a lot of football but am watching less and less as Vars implementation is ruining football.

03 Feb 2021 11:03:09
My bad too, apologies. There were quite a few crappy decisions in the United match, the refs didn’t have great games. The one thing they did get right was the first red, apart form that they were all over the place. I’d have been seething if we had a goal riled out the way Saints did and their second red was ridiculous.

It’s a very very strange season.

03 Feb 2021 11:55:24
It’s a shame really that a team has just won 9-0 and yet all anybody seems to be talking about are the 3 VAR decisions across the two games that made absolutely no sense at all. Says it all really about how much VAR has ruined football.

03 Feb 2021 13:28:44
It is a very strange season alright Tony.

Ref decisions have been awful this season and VAR is just showing their ineptitude. How the ref gives a red card and penalty last night After going to the monitor and watching it again is just crazy

Good win for yous though and played some nice stuff - that was tough to say 🤣🤣🤣.

03 Feb 2021 16:02:42
Bill, you did not even need to see the monitor over and over again. You only needed to see the first close-up replay and boom, Martial clearly dived and on his way down, he contacted Bednarek. How a ref with video help, cannot see that and book Martial is criminal, IMO.

I have read that at times, the refs go to the monitor just for show as their minds are either already made up or they are being told what to give. I am starting to think there could be some truth to this esp. with the former.

03 Feb 2021 18:06:08
That's what I mean OliRed, the ref gave a penalty and got VAR in his ear telling him to have a look at it, he goes over watches it again and somehow misses what everybody else saw - no contact, a dive - keeps with the wrong decision and sends the defender off too. The ineptitude this season is mind boggling.
