Eds just looking for some opinions on the back four. Obviously hendo in there again today when you can see the midfield needs his freshness and energy. We have Phillips who I don't think has put a foot wrong. We have Davies who has plenty of championship experience and was deemed good enough to go up to Celtic and start playing but can't even get on the bench ahead of Rhys Williams who has made constant mistakes and doesn't look like a defender at all.
Do you think Koop is right to keep hendo back there and not using Davies at all yet?

Yeah generally I don’t question him since he has been here but I really don’t understand his stance with the defence lately. Not sure if maybe he is trying to prove a point to the owners that he needed a senior starter and not what he ended up with as surely it can’t benefit us having our best midfielder or two of our best midfielders in the last game playing centre half while 2/ 3 decent centre halves sit out the game.

We are all more or less agreeing about the cbs but klopp is the coach and knows better then any of us!
I’d give him more credit today if he went gun ho and stuck who he thought was the best cbs kabak Philips etc and let hendo be a mid that he is!
I don’t care if we lost if he tried it but at least show us what the lads have!
I don’t think we will see fabs and hendo in the middle again this season!
But hendo as a cb when he’s 4 to choose doesn’t say much for the cbs at his disposal!
They are all professional experienced players and should be able to do the job!
I rate Philips also he’s no frills solid defender he’d put his head to a cannon ball!
Hopefully we win today and this post shows I know f all 👍🏼.

As Kabac has had as much time to work with Henderson as he has Davies and Philips what would be the reasoning behind not having a second CB playing today? It is going foward we have really struggled recently. Take away the two Alison howlers last week and it wasnt like City were swapping us . It just all seems a little odd and almost like Klopp has an idea that he is adamant will work so that is what will happen.

I feel like team management has decided we will see the season out with hendo at CB and I also feel that might be his long term role. Klopp wants a vocal CB that can dictate play, hold their lines and guide players around him. Hendo fits there. It has not worked out yet but i think it will suit us better in champions league And hendo will make position his own in time something like lucas did.
Interesting to see how kabak does tonite.

Can see us getting over run in midfield like we were against City. Kabak and Henderson are going to be badly exposed. Poor selection from Klopp. Having to play central midfielders as centre backs when you don’t have any is unlucky. Playing that when you have at least three competent ones available is just negligent. And Williams over Davies on the bench makes literally no sense, in a million years Williams is never going to make it as a premier league player, he’s too deficient in quality and hard work ethic.

That is correct ed, Klopp has shown that he knows better that us. I think its the right call to bench Thiago he can come on in the second half.

You must have been watching a different game to me Livebird31, we looked hopeless against city. Devoid of ideas, no creativity, poor in defence, weak in midfield and a couple of clangers from the keeper. It was not a freak result or one in isolation. Today proved that.
