With Gini looking ever more likely to leave and a replacement being needed it seems Bissouma is the popular choice, which who be a great signing. But if he was unavailable what would people think of Guendouzi at Arsenal, I know he might not be everyone's choice but I genuinely think there a talented player in there, Arteta seems to want rid so maybe there's a cut price, just throwing the name out there to see what people would think.

Not for me mate. Even before his fall out he just never looked good enough to me.

20 Feb 2021 09:41:47
He's a fantastic player but not sure he's physical enough for us!

Thiago and Jones are his replacements. Once everyone is fit then I expect our midfield will be Fab, Hendo and Thiago. With Jones, Ox, Milner, Keita etc rotating in and out. No need in my eyes to replace Gini when he goes because in my eyes his replacements are already here. I see little need in spending big money, money we don’t have, bringing someone else in unless others are also going to leave.

I liked Guendouzi a lot as a player for Arsenal, and he was a teenagerfor a lot of them games so still time for him to develop. Meant to be a bit of a nut but im sure Klopp could sort him.

I was always under the impression that Thiago was Gini's replacement. Who did Thiago come in for?

20 Feb 2021 10:37:32
Always a red. I think everyone is worried about replacing Gini if he goes. Bissouma looks a top talent but we have a very top talent ourselves in Curtis jones coming through. Would rather give him the extra minutes to develop than buy another midfielder where in fairness if Gini goes isn’t a position that’s a priority for us to strengthen.

Why does klopp need to sort every player out. For once let's get klopps no1 picks.

20 Feb 2021 11:32:10
Bissouma would be a fab replacement. Don't see fab going anywhere anytime soon.

20 Feb 2021 11:46:14
Jones should be an excellent replacement for Wijnaldum. However, Keita offers very little, Ox hasn't impressed in recent seasons and Milner is coming towards the end of his time with us. A midfielder or two is going to be necessary in the summer.

I think we’ve seen quite clearly that Thiago is not Gini’s replacement.
He’s limited where and when he can play, particularly in the PL.
Jones in the longer term, possibly though his application of intensity seems to vary considerably.
I’d consider that we’d need another mobile replacement if Wijnaldum leaves.
Bissouma definitely fits the bill.

I am not sure that is correct The Juicer - Thiago needs a run in his normal position within a full strength team, where he won't be playing as deep as he is now.

You may well be right in your assessment, but we need to see him play in the role he was brought in to do first.

Per games this season Thiago has better tackles, interceptions, possessions won and duels won than Fab, Hendo and Wiji from last season. Distance covered per game he is on average the same as Fab (11.2), better than Wiji (11) and behind Hendo (11.3). The team also average 20+ more passes in final third and 3 more chances created a game when Thiago plays compared to when he doesn’t. He’s never been known for his assists (but neither are any of our midfielders) but his ability to play forward and take riskier passes will be shown when the front 3 are firing like they have been in the past. My only issue with Thigoa is the fouls he gives away but some of those fouls are actually tactical. Watch the 2 he gave away against West Ham and Spurs I think it was. Both on the edge of their boxes and both times they were just about to hit us on the break with majority of our players forward. I’m actually hoping that Thiago might bring out a better version of Kieta also. Hopefully they are on similar wave length.

What you been watching the last couple of months JK23?
Thiago can be a downright liability out of possession and in a 3 that’s going to hurt, which it has.
I do agree with the fact that we’ve not had a full strength side out, but equally that’s part and parcel of the English game.
If he always needs a full strength side out to shine, then that’s a problem.
The Leipzig game was much better, higher intensity and high pressing, getting the ball forward earlier instead of that ‘death by football’ stuff he was inflicting on the midfield.

Thiago was bought as an AM, most games he has had to play more defensively, which is not his best position. Let's judge him when he is able to play in his proper position, with DM's behind him.

Grujic anyone? He had a very good rating vs Juve in CL even though he played 30 mins.

20 Feb 2021 15:57:06
Juicer been watching the same games as you mate. I think he’s done well in some games and not so well in others. Which is the story of more or less the whole squad this season. He wasn’t around for the start of this bad spell the WBA game but he seems to be taking most of the blame for the sticky patch. But let’s not forget there’s been plenty of under performances and results this season when he’s also not played. You obviously think he’s been poor which you are more than entitled too. It’s the beauty of being a supporter mate everyone’s opinions will vary. Similar to Bobby I think he’s been off it most of the season and he could literally sleep through a game and would still have people saying the sun shone out of his arse.

Thiago certainly runs about a lot but most of that has been chasing the ball like a headless chuck before he makes his next foul. I personally don’t think he can be judged until he gets a proper run with ball winners alongside him or a least a proper DM in midfield. Gini has been off the pace and not his usual self and Jones is more forward thinking so Thiago is just being asked to do too much work on his own.
With Fabs in the 6 it will free him up to express himself a bit more and I think we’ll see the best of him.
