Ed1 do you think this will be Klopps biggest summer window in terms of ins and outs? . Yes we have players to come back in but it is clear we need to freshen up the squad. Just wondering what your thoughts are?

{Ed001's Note - biggest? No, we need a bit of freshening up, but a lot of that will come from having some time off and having players coming back from injury. Shouldn't really need more than the usual two or three players to come in. Plus Elliott and Minamino back from loan as well could be a boost.}

Agree0 Disagree0

A CB, CM and another option up front should do the trick this summer.
However, it is the outgoings that will be a big focus this summer. It's time to clear the deck of a number of fringe players that have been here for far too long, the loan players need to be moved on permanently and maybe one or two first team players like Gini and maybe one of the Front 3 also need replacing to give the side mote of an edge and fresh look next season.

Liverpool's biggest issue since Klopp took over has been lack of goals from midfield.
Klopp addressed this by bringing in Keita (poor form and injuries) The Ox (Injuries) Fabinho (injuries to CH forcing him to play in defence and injuries to himself) and Shaqiri (injuries) .
Whilst our original midfield Hendo Gini and Milner averaged 3 goals a season, the above signings averaged approx 10 per season, prior to joining LFC.
Maybe it is time to get them out and bring in Grealish, Maddison and Kevin de Bruyne.

Minamino and Elliott will be like new signings. I agree with Indian Buzzer CB and CM are required. Bissouma for the midfield spot. CB I would love Koundé but competition would be high and seems we haven’t shown any interest to date. Failing that Konaté would be a good shout.

Outs would be Origi first and foremost. Shaq to raise much needed funds. Matip not due to talent but reliability to stay fit for longer than a month. Gini whose contract expires this summer and is already playing as though his head is in Barcelona or somewhere else. Naby Keita who has failed to impress when fit, which is a shame given the promise he showed in Germany. With funds needed to bring in players I would say Ox although I’m conflicted on that seeing as he hasn’t had a long spell fit to prove he can get back the form he showed when he first joined. Lastly Harry Wilson and Grujić, again to bring in much needed funds.

Fully fit squad with just those two additions mentioned above will see us challenging again on all fronts. Now if a major departure was to happen. Say a team has the funds and decides to go for Salah who has been agitating for a move for a while now as Ed2 has previously reported then for me we need to go big. Sure others would have a list of potential signings as a replacement but for me Haaland, although unlikely we could get a deal done due to competition. Short of him, we seem to have a good record of not signing the obvious and they end up doing well so I trust the scouting team to have a replacement in mind if that scenario were to manifest. Having said all that I would hope we keep the front three along with Jota and look to carry out the inevitable rebuild of our forward line the following season.

{Ed001's Note - the Forest fans are raving about Elliott after he played against them yesterday.}

My dad is a Forest fan and was watching the Forest v Blackburn game yesterday.
And it was clear to see that Harvey Elliott is quality and by far the best player on the pitch. He’s been used as a right winger and as a centre forward this season. And his stats back up the hype around him.
Unbelievable talent we have on our hands.
Would happily see him fully integrated in the first team next season and getting fairly regular minutes.

Think everyone who has watched the championship has been raving about him. The EFL show on quest constantly say he’s far above that level at 17. Crazy.

Ed1. In Elliot we have a replacement for one of the forwards. I’m excited to see where the future takes him if he continues to work hard and applies himself. In Jota we have the other replacement as he has shown, albeit over a brief period before he got injured that he can weigh in with his fair share of goals. Those two would ideally be playing from the flanks, although flexible to interchange. That leaves one more spot to complete the “inevitable rebuild” and for me I would go for someone we can provide 20+ goals, someone clinical in front of goal with that ruthless streak. Easier said in theory than actually finding that player though.

{Ed001's Note - why not just keep hold of Mane and Salah to interchange with them?}

21 Feb 2021 18:22:48
My thoughts exactly langland- midfield is devoid of goals and creativity.

21 Feb 2021 18:16:27
I would personally try to move either Bobby or Mane on this summer. Frees up wages and try to get in a younger long term solution like Raphinha/ Neto or basically whoever Klopp wants. Elliot and Minamino can replace Origi and Shaq in the squad. Bissouma as a CM and DCC/ Botman as the CB should make for a very good window imo.

21 Feb 2021 18:31:22
I like Minimano but I think he has played his last game for Liverpool. He was left on the bench in favour of Origi after a really good performance against Palace and not used since. Then being sent on loan, with the team as it is was a big indicator he is not wanted by Klopp. So totally agree Elliott will be a real bonus next season but I think Taki will be elsewhere permanently.

21 Feb 2021 18:55:49
What do you think of elliot this season ed001

Also think we need to build a squad that can go far in domestic cups

And by that I mean when we rotate for them cups we look so weakened so we need a squad that with rotation we don't look so far of our first team
Even our subs make us weaker at the moment we make changes other teams get control of the game lately.

{Ed001's Note - I have only seen bits of him sorry. Blackburn are extremely happy with him though.}

Alisson, Kelleher
Trent, neco
VVD, Gomez, Davies, Konate, Phillips/ Kabak
Robbo, Taimikas
Fabinho, Hendo, Thiago, Jones, Bissouma, Milner, AOC
Mane, Salah, Firmino, Jota, Elliott, Mina, Raphina.

Adding the 3 mentioned would provide even more competition and provide even better depth. I could also see AOC moving on in which chase id sign Zakaria to free up hendo and Thiago to play more advanced and still give another option to fab in the holding role.

21 Feb 2021 19:29:06
Elliott is the real deal, IMO and I think Minamino had something to offer this team cos his skill set and mentality is what Klopp likes in his forwards.

I do agree with the Ed and IB that we only need about. 2 or 3 fresh faces in a CB, a CM and another forward to complete a rebuild esp with our injured players in JG and VVD coming back. It is the fringe players the need to go. If we cannot move Naby then we may have to keep him abd I am conflicted about Ox as well. We shall see.

Alonso1786: that 20 goals a season striker. We already have one surely. Salah has achieved that four seasons in a row and shows no sign of decline or being past peak. Already well on his way to 30 goals for this season in all comps and 20+ in the league.

And ok, he is a bit selfish but his assist numbers are pretty decent as well. I can’t fathom why anyone would think we want to sell Salah. I could see him carrying on being this prolific for at least another two or three seasons, maybe even better when our general play and performances improve.

21 Feb 2021 21:34:48
Ed1 and RR. I think you misread what I said or I didn’t articulate myself properly. I’m one of Salah’s biggest advocates. He is still underrated by those outside of Liverpool and even some within, which is crazy given his numbers. I meant eventually, no one stays the same age forever and players will eventually either move on or grow old. I was referring to the future not the immediate one. Hopefully that clears up what I meant.
