I heard a recording of an interview that he did not so long ago, by now an older man in poor health.
But the enormity of his life and experiences, the enjoyment and pride in his voice when he was describing his time at Liverpool caused him to falter and brought him to tears.
I had a lump in my throat listening to him and have now typing this.
