I submit that the players are subconsciously leaving themselves in a win-the-champions-league-or-bust scenario because their legs and minds have lost the strength required to compete in this relentless slog of a premier league season after four years at full tilt under Klopp. I for one wouldn’t be ruling them out of pulling off the impossible, again!

I hope you’re right, but I think your optimism will soon be crushed unfortunately. I think there’s a deep rooted issue and the better teams in the competition will prepare for us easily. We’re not hard to strategise against at the moment, just don’t leave yourself completely open ala RBL and you have a good chance at the moment.

If we can't even muster a shot on target in 75 minutes of a match we won't be winning the CL. don't hold your breath.

Cant see it, and I was one that was hopeful a few weeks back. We look done unfortunately. Lack of options has ruined us this season. I will say it again. Klopp has made a really strong core group, approx 16 players which I'm more than happy with. We have been fortunate over the past few years not to suffer too many injuries, hence how we have done really well. This season tho when it was clear we were going to have to use the squad to the max, our core group has been decimated therefore having to use players that just don't cut it. As MK Scouser said the other day, every player outside the 14 could easily be replaced or at least have to show something over the next few months.
It isn't really Klopps fault for our lack of quality, we are never going to have the riches of Utd or City, so he invested on the core group and who can argue? Look what he has won over the few seasons?
We have had really bad injuries, no players of quality to replace them long term and no players to replace the out of form players or players needing a break, sometimes resulting in more injuries.
I'm optimistic tho for next season when we get all our players back and hopefully some work on the reserve players. Its obvious to me why we don't fight so hard for the domestic cups. We just don't have the quality deep into our squad to do so. Its how I see it. Top 4 more important than CL run in my opinion.
