So not a single LFC player in the England squad. Whilst I don't really follow international football as much as I used to, it is slightly disappointing.

What is disappointing about it, OP? The players like Gomez and Hendo who would have made the squad, are injured anyway. Makes sense to me. At the same, the less our players get picked the better and long may that continue, IMO.

We may be glad no lfc players are in the England squad, but I'd doubt the players feel that way. I'd say trent is bitterly disappointed not to be involved. Which may work in our favor as he'll be out to prove a point before the euros in the summer.

{Ed077's Note - I see the Trent omission more as an attempt to look at other players like Luke Shaw and Reece James. I would assume TAA is pretty much nailed on for the Euros.

As a Man Utd supporter I am personally a bit disappointed that Rashford has been called up. The likes of TAA and Rashy wont show Southgate or anyone else something we dont already know.}

I’m with you Ed077 is a blessing in plain sight. The less Liverpool players go on international duty the better this couple of weeks, a well earned rest and recuperation period is needed.

Hopefully this is the kick up the @r5e Trent needs to get him back up to speed. He doesn’t really have much competition at Liverpool but for England there are plenty that would be glad to take his place.
And he gets a rest too and time to work on his game.
Win/ win from our point of view. It wouldn’t surprise me if Michael Edwards has negotiated it!

I disagree. Whilst it's great for us armchair supporters at home, playing for your country is the pinnacle of being a professional athlete, regardless of what you think of international football. I enjoy seeing Liverpool players representing England as it shows they are at the top of their game. I am sure Trent isn't sharing your enthuasim in not being picked and thinking it's great he can put his feet up, if he was, I would be disappointed in his professionalism.

The problem for Trent now is, after these friendlies the next squad to be picked is the ones for the Euros. If other players play well in the next 2 weeks, it is going to be harder for him to break into the squad.
