Firstly, apologies, I'm in the mood for one of these "if money were no object" posts!
So, if money were no object, and you had to replace our front 3, who would you pick and why? Looking for (obvs) best impact but also some longevity so we're probably looking at players upto mid-20s (so no Ronaldos or Messis! )

Jota and Elliott are part of it for me. Jota is ready now to challenge Bobby for the central role, and i genuinely think Salah will sign a new contract (he's the face of LFC now and nobody can afford the £150m+ they'd have to pay for him) . Elliott will hopefully be ready in 3-4 years to step into his shoes.
If we had to sell one of the classic front 3 then i'd choose Mane. Salah is a goal machine and goals are the hardest thing to replace. Firmino isn't really going to generate that much from a sale and could also play as an attacking midfielder behind a front 3 or even on the left where he played for Hoffenheim. Mane and Salah also look like they genuinely don't like each other now, and if one of them gets the bullet, it won't be the guy with 40+ goals and assists every season.
I genuinely don't want Mbappe. I'm not interested in being a stepping stone to Real Madrid. Sticking to the theme of money being no object i'd go for Jack Grealish. I like the idea of Grealish, Jota, Salah. I still think you need a creative influence in attack. Even more so if we moved away from the false 9 philosophy.
Realistically though i like Todd Cantwell, Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze. All equally as creative as they are goal scorers. All around 21-23 years old and could probably get any one of them for £35-45m. Harvey Barnes is another player i really like, but i reckon the hype is already built up enough with him that coupled with the English Premium he'll be in the £70-80m region like Grealish.

Well if the below is correct then money no object might come into force for a few select European clubs again soon.
BREAKING: UEFA is scrapping Financial Fair Play (FFP) and will replace it with a new system of financial control which will give clubs more freedom over their spending.

My thoughts on this are that I would keep Salah out of the front 3, for the reasons that Adam has outlined - so consistent and the best finisher.
I also really rate Jota, so he would stay too.
If money were no object, I would add Haaland and Mbappe.
I know Haaland doesn't play in the same system as we play, but he is only 20 years old. I believe he could adapt quite easily as he has the attributes our system requires.
As for Mbappe, well he may be off to RM in a few years time, but I would certainly appreciate him whilst he's at Anfield! As Ed002 said a while back, players are transitory employees. We may look back, misty eyed, on the likes to Callaghan, Rush and (more recently) Carragher and Gerrard who gave the majority of their playing careers to Liverpool, but working to a 3-4 year cycle is no bad thing either. I'm sure Utd fans would rather have had 6 years of Ronaldo than none at all.
I would hope that Mane would still command a fee approaching £100m in this market, and Bobby would also command £40-£50 or even more.
Even though "money is no object" in this scenario, I can't help thinking that the combined fee for Haaland and Mbappe, although massive, is going to be lower now than it would be in the future due to CV and also the fact that Mbappe doesn't look likely to sign a new contract.
And if, for example, Mbappe left for RM in 3-4 seasons time, we should have a superstar in waiting ready to take over from him in Harvey Elliot!

JK yes I agree there are better out there than both Phillips and Davies. But I think we need 1 top CB (Kounde in this instance) and have a decent 4th and 5th choice which Phillips and Davies are.
I’ve watched a bit of Davies in the championship and he’s capable to being a PL CB probably not at the highest level would fit in well at a Southampton. Got fairly good pace, average strength, good positioning and he’s left footed so gives you a balanced option in cup games alongside Phillips. But for a 4th/ 5th choice I’m happy enough with him even though he hasn’t played yet.
