I can give a manager a break if I can understand what he's thinking, even if it doesn't come off. I can understand the thinking behind having Trippier and Walker in the squad ahead of Trent. More experienced, considered to be better defensively, work better in a back 4 with disciplined FBs, Walker can play as a CB in a back 3 etc.

I think he's wrong though. Neither Walker or Trippier are so excellent defensively that it's worth the trade off vs. Trent going forward, but I understand what he's thinking, even if the logic of it is flawed.

What I don't understand is the thinking behind Reece James seemingly ahead of Trent based on the last squad. Plays primarily as a RWB in a back 5 and doesn't appear to be particularly special defensively, less experienced than Trent, and not nearly as good as Trent going forward (4 assists in his PL career vs. 29 for Trent) . That one has me thoroughly stumped.

Then again, as I'm Irish, this only concerns me if it knocks Trent's confidence. Players generally like playing for their country and I'm sure Trent will be pissed off if he's not in the Euro squad.

Exactly Silvered. People who want to take a pop at 22 year old (! ) Trent's ability should at least try and make themselves look more than a troll by stating who they want to replace him with. Supposedly he's had a bad season creatively but he's still on 6 assists. Only Firmino has more in our whole squad. A victim of his own success I'd say.

We all know that Trent can sometimes leave space in behind at times but that is because of how he is asked to play. Watch our third goal against Arsenal for evidence. What other right back in the world presses the opposition left back on the edge of their area? If he wasn't playing that high under instruction, Klopp wouldn't be so supportive of him and wouldn't keep playing him.

He's brilliant at defending on the front foot and making quick use of the ball when he wins it back. If you get past our press though then yes it leaves a gap in our right back area. I can't honestly believe it still needs explaining.

If you want to question his form, that's a different debate. He's not been at his best. Class is permanent though and he is still the best in the world ability wise.

England team is full of bias and club and league level. You will know when sancho isn't picked either.
Obviously southgate thinks people will attack trent on the right because they will feel he is most fragile.

What he keeps forgetting is he has Pickford as keeper and slabhead as cb and shaw at LB who are bigger defensive liabilities than trent. But ofcourse since he don't have options there he will absolutely turn a blind eye to that.

Shaw has had a far better season than Trent. Trent has been way off his best, due to numerous factors. When defending one on one in the fb position this year players have gone past him far too easily. He looked bast to his old self v arsenal’ and he can finish the season stronger.

I’m not sure why we are getting so irate that Trent wasn’t picked for 1 England squad. If this was Utd or Everton fans crying over one of their players we would be the first ones mocking them. As long as Trent is happy with us I don’t really care what Southgate is doing with England and that squad. From a selfish point of view the more Liverpool players that get a break in the summer the better.

This post isn't anything to do with England though JK23. It's about people in general questioning Trent's ability. I don't think anyone on here cares about his place in sham squad assembled by a pub league manager. Trent himself even said the other day that he is Scouse, not English (paraphrasing), and that his focus is on winning things with Liverpool. International football is awful and even the players must know that every international break is just a long boring wait for the Prem to return.

He’s only a young lad with los to learn and gain!
Going forward he’s second to none!
Defending he’s upped his game but can do better!

Mk ok mate I’ve only seen people comment that Trent has been on and off form this season, I’ve not actually seen any actually make out that he’s no good (not that I’m saying those posts aren’t about) . And I think your very harsh calling Southgate a pub league manger. What have pub league managers ever done to you to deserve such criticism as being compared to Southgate 😜.

Numerous time wingers have been able to knock it past Trent too easily and get crossses in. He has had a poor season. The Arenal game he was outstanding but he has only played like that 3 times this season.

There are many others that’s just what I remember in the past 6 Pl games or so. If you asked any supporter or Trent or Klopp would you be happy for Trent to perform as he has this season next year, nobody would say yes. Last season he was 8.5 out of 10 this season 4 out of 10 so far.

Of course all that is true Jay we know all the reasons, who is bitching? But people are trying to pretent he has had a decent season and that is so far not the case. By his own admission Trent has been below his expected levels this season. We are not discussing all the reasons just his overall levels and they are way down.

Lets just pretent that, Mane, Allison, Trent, Firmino, Gini have all been good this season and just blame our disasterours pl campaign only on the injuries to our 2 cb's. We have lost 9 pl games, and one of the reasons is a lot of players lost form and Trent was one of them.

10 awesome, 9 great, 8 very good, 7 good, 6 ok, 5 average, 4 below average,3 poor, 2 really poor, 1 retire.

I think 6 for Allison, 4 is right for Trent, Mane, Gini,
and 3 for Firmino.

Judging them against the so called top 8 sides in the pl, our competition.
