Hi eds, I apologise if this has been answered, but what positions are we looking to fill. I'm hoping for a defender, like a box to box midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a winger and a striker. I appreciate this is going to cost a lot but as well as the normal suspects to sell I would also sell 1 or 2 of Mane, Salah and firminio. Controversial I know, my preference is to keep Mane.

{Ed002's Note - There will be a Sharkopod in a couple of weeks.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Box to box midfielders are old fashioned now and we already have them. Time to go and get creative midfield like Kevin De Bruyne mould who we badly need and some defenders who can take us to the next level. Think we've got one if not the best DM in Fab, got the best deep lying PM in Thiago time to bring creative midfielder who can assist and join our trio making 4th when Attacking and helping when defending with Thiago and Fab controlling tempo of the game.

{Ed001's Note - is that not what Elliott is? He is a very creative midfielder.}

Ed1 mate haven't seen Blackburn this season, so have no idea abt Elliott progress, just think in general we badly need a creative Midfielder who can take us to the next level with some defenders.

{Ed001's Note - I saw a thing earlier that he got his 11th assist, so it seems likely he is doing well and he has a wand of a left foot.}

Harry wilson also has 11 assists, just saying.

{Ed001's Note - Harry Wilson is playing for a better team but is the most cowardly player I have ever seen. He ducked out of every challenge the other day and got the hook early on.}

Elliott got his 11th assist today. Harry Wilson also got his 10th and 11th assists in the same game. Ojo has 7 assists this season too. All 3 of them are in the top 7 for assists in the Championship. Ojo and Wilson should have a fair bit of interest in the summer and Elliott absolutely has to be in our first team squad next season. He's already at least as good as Shaqiri.

We are indeed very lucky to have him on our books.

I think we have a potential gem in Elliott.

So is the plan for the club to use Elliot as part of the squad next year? Do any of the Ed’s know what the plan is next few seasons for him? Seems most are in agreement he’s got what it takes in the next few years. Maybe he replaces a shaq, ox or keita spot in the squad.

{Ed002's Note - The plan has been to integrate him in to the squad but he will want to be playing regularly.}

Anyone know what position he's playing for Blackburn? Central or Right wing?

10 Apr 2021 22:39:41
Thanks Ed, to be honest I hope the club gives him a go. If we are honest looking at the rebuild it’ll prob take a couple of seasons to get back to the standards we enjoyed last season and one before. Why not try embed the likes of Jones and Elliot over the next couple of seasons.

Couple of seasons? Lol seems you're over analyzing stuff.

Jones has a pass and good shot in him if giving the chance could he play further forward as a creative attacking midfielder.

11 Apr 2021 06:17:49
Wasnt commenting on wilson as a player I was just stating that he also has 11 assists.

Jones is a box to box midfielder with abundance of energy . the time has come for our evolution to get a top top creative midfielder who can take us to the next level. We already have a class team which massively lacks creativity from middle of the park and some defenders. Just get a creative midfielder who can suppliment our trio so they don't have to come deep and collect the ball everytime. Let them hold their line in the opposition box and cause all the damage instead of wasting their energy and pace coming to collect the ball everytime in our half.

And thae fact that Wilson is matching Elliott for me is why I can’t stand this obsession to base everything on stats these days Ed001.

(I’m not saying you were pegleg, I know you were just pointing them out) .

My point is a lot of arguments in football these days will tend to have stats thrown about in them, but for me you should use your eyes to watch the game football itself instead of the stats sheet. Stats can be ridiculously misleading.

Wilson is one of the most frustrating players I’ve seen. Same for Wales. Plays like a magician for 5 minutes and you forget he’s there for the other 85.
