We as fans demand money being spent on the team, we demand the best players, the best players demand silly wages, if the super league is going to afford these players then for me its one big merry go round and us as fans need to take the blame as well.

If the money isn't there to spend then so be it. Would rather us play 11 youth players than sell the soul of the club.

LFC sold its soul decades ago, if you want pure and soulful football then better to support your local team mate. LFC is a global brad for a reason. FSG will continue to extract more cash, add more Value to their asset etc etc.

But then we would demand the owners sell, and would be walking down Anfield Road with banners protesting, you can't have it both ways, us as fans are hypocritical.

{Ed002's Note - I assume that you will be walking down Anfield Road when the owners are milling about there as well.}

Well said Mighty Reds. It is genuinely mind blowing how oblivious football fans are to their part in this. Banners to get owners out and managers sacked. Demanding their club keep ticket prices and merchandise costs frozen, whilst simultaneously demanding huge transfer and salary outlays. The current model is not sustainable. Something had to give under the weight of fan pressure and the growing time bomb that is the debt top clubs have accumulated. If you create a beast, don't complain when you get bitten.

how can you possibly defend it? football existed before the premier league, before the European cup became the champions league. this under no circumstance is a necessity. the football club would continue to make money without the ESL. i understand football has moved on but to make a competition governed by its competitors taking away any sort of long term goals from the smaller clubs. attempting to take a huge financial advantage into their domestic leagues is nothing short of immoral. its put players, managers, fans and staff in a horrible position. i for one would rather see the club sent down to the national league.

MK, you nailed it there.

Oddly I don’t remember fans with banners demanding we sign Mbappe or Messi. But the banners are out in force against this super league.

I’m sorry but a few naive fans kicking and screaming for unrealistic signings is no excuse for this.

19 Apr 2021 17:41:36
To blame fans for this is farcical. Fans of every club want the club they support to sign the best possible players, it’s down to the owners and board who run the club to do what’s right for them, what’s sustainable. Leicester won the league you don’t see them signing players on £300k a week wages for you. Fans will always want the best, but they don’t run the club. The rats that own you and us are to blame for this, nobody else.

Amen Stand couldn’t have said it better myself.

No one is blaming fans. Just pointing out the hypocrisy. These are the same fans who shout greed but then want their owners to spend spend spend. East when it's not your money aye?

Someone else said there was European football before champions League. Yes, then it evolved and changed into a bigger money spinner. UEFA are trying to evolve again to make more money. See how it works?
