At the end of the day any business as a legal right, to there shareholders to maximise the value of there business, and that's all FSG were doing right or wrong, ok they might of gone the wrong way about it. We need a product that sees the best teams play each other week in, week out, I don't want to watch Burnley v Fulham its none attractive and Boring, we need the best players playing against each other, we as fans go around smashing team buses and vandalise but to take the morale high grounds simply not right all the time.

{Ed002's Note - They were looking for power and control at the expense of others. You can keep defending what they have done but all trust in them and the club has gone for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mighty Reds, this comment is a joke. Based on this season any game involving Liverpool sure hasn’t been a blast to watch either. Our owners have tried to ruin the game we love at the expense of others. They tried to close the door so no one else could get in. I am not going to waste my time explaining all of the reasons why this is vile, but our owners are at the heart of it.

I follow this team because of the ethos that defines it. It is clear that the owners no longer believe in that ethos and would rather spit on the past.

Burnley v Fulham wouldn’t be boring to the supporters of those clubs. Clearly you are not a ‘legacy fan’, you are the sort of ‘consumer’ the ESL was hoping to appeal to.
Playing Real Madrid this season was fun in part because it happened for years. If Liverpool played Real Madrid twice a year every year it would soon get very boring.

Given that there have been and there are similar other proposals to this one, being discussed at various stages, shows you unequivocally that this was a power grab. They knew that since their proposal was refused last year, they decided to make a last ditch attempt at that power grab now. Their "Hail Mary" throw that woefully missed the target.

21 Apr 2021 15:12:27
How are either of those things comparable issues of morality. On the one hand, you have the bottle throwing antics of one or two drunken hanger-on yobs. On the other, you have the total destruction of football as we know it, the gutting of working class communities all over Europe and the obliteration of 130+ years of history, all in the name of a quick buck.

You’re entitled to your opinion of course but i honestly have no idea what you’ve been seeing the past few days.

21 Apr 2021 15:04:48
From a business stand point, I understood what they were trying to do, but it was the complete antithesis of what football was built on. We’ve seen money completely corrupt the sport up to now but this was a major step in that direction, it wasn’t subtle at all, it was completely changing the model of how club football will be structured at the highest level. Let’s see how they would like it if you decided to completely change the structure of their beloved MLB or NBA and make it a genuine meritocracy with a promotion/ demotion type structure, will they not be up in arms? In fact I find it funny how they don’t just do what they tried to do with us, with their own sports franchises, put the lakers, Celtics, knicks, bulls etc all in a separate competition that would be competed all across the world, since they are the teams that have generated the most views and in turn the most money to the nba. I’m guessing that’s not a possibility legally but the point remains, how dare they try to taint our sport pyramid when they aren’t willing to take those steps with their own major sports.

Mighty Reds

I always suspected you were a fool but this comment confirms it.

21 Apr 2021 15:56:08
MR, sorry but I do not agree. The fact that you roped in the LFC fanbase on the smashing of buses and all that is reprehensible in it of itself BUT I digress. The owners can want what they want and that is fine for them. What they have done is try to enforce what they want at the expense of those who actually make football what it is: The fans, the community and so on which are at the very heart of the sport esp in England. They did this to themselves and have no one else to blame BUT themselves. On that front, JWH is correct.

They already tried this with Project Big Foot and it failed miserably and they were already warned. They chose to do this even after that so they have learned nothing from their own history hence, they were doomed to repeat it. This has nothing to do with a better "product" or any of that mess. If they want a better product on the pitch, they know what to do. And if you don't like Burnley vs Fulham games, do what I do: Don't Watch!

21 Apr 2021 16:04:29
The best product in cricket is the ipl because the best players play in it, same as the nfl, we need the best players playing against each other more, what happened with Salah and Ramos, Salah should of been able to get his own back sooner not 2yrs down the line, its about stories and drama.

21 Apr 2021 16:05:43
Take the red tinted glasses off OP.

{Ed0666's Note - it’s the OP’s permit I’ve to advocate for the owners no matter how flimsy and idiotic the defense argument is

21 Apr 2021 16:15:33
If I remember correctly one of the most intense and emotional moments I’ve seen in football was Man City’s last minute title winning goal against QPR. How about our 06 Cup final thriller against West Ham? Are we saying that actually it wasn’t very good because it wasn’t Barcelona or Real Madrid? Absolute rubbish being spoken sorry Mighty Reds. Just sounds very elitist.

21 Apr 2021 16:20:12
Mighty Reds, what a selfish kn*b you really are. You don’t want to see Burnley coz it’s boring for you, but Burnley and there’s thousands of fans who pay the same to sky and bt sports as everyone else do want to see them. Complete muppet you are.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m greatful you stopped at muppet as I didn’t want to have to censor you’re post mate 😂

21 Apr 2021 16:29:41
Nobody gives a monkeys what happens in other sports mate, football is different and the liverpool fanbase is especially different. Too much of our game has already been taken away from us, we need to be reversing the damage of the last 30 years not diving headfirst into further overdrive capitalism. Only then will we have a competitive, engaging product.

{Ed0666's Note - technically not true woolback. I love MMA, squash & cricket and I dearly care about what happens in those sports. I understand football/soccer is tantamount to religion for some but there are other beautiful sports out there that people enjoy. I agree that the Liverpool fan base is a different breed spiritually, politically tho.

21 Apr 2021 17:12:39
The most emotional moment was city's title win? Mate the most emotional moment involving city in modern football was when they got done at Wembley by an already relegated wigan for the fa Cup. Which ironically leads into the discussion about how important it is that everyone has a chance, realistic or not etc.

21 Apr 2021 17:25:41
How arrogant can you get. “I don’t want to watch Fulham v Burnley” Well here’s the thing it’s not about you.

Talk about disrespect and self entitlement.

As for smashing up team buses. No that’s not fans. That’s scum. If you lack the brain capacity to understand smashing a bus up in the name of a game of football then you have no affiliation with true fans of any club.

21 Apr 2021 17:42:18
Hjikle please try to read posts fully before commenting and looking a tad foolish. Of course it’s subjective hence why I said “one of”. No worries it’s been a stressful few days.

21 Apr 2021 16:37:21
One thing I would say is that pre-C.V. Burnley vs Fulham wouldn't be televised.

It is harsh on those fans as they don't get to watch there team unless they are near enough to go to the stadium or use a stream.

I would like to see if there was a way to make it profitable and allow all games to be watched even when fans are allowed back in the grounds.

21 Apr 2021 16:45:07
We need the best players playing against each other more, not playing meaningless games getting injured, the product needs improving, firstly by reducing the Premiership to 18 teams, calling me a muppet and all that, I didn't know you cared so much about me stand but cheers pal.

21 Apr 2021 16:51:45
Oh no i’m not speaking from a place of sport snobbishness, all sport is a wonderful thing for the human race, just that comparing the running of our beautiful game to the running of organisations in the USA is an absolute nonsense. Ethics and community are irrevocably tied into the foundations of our clubs, whereas American sport is riddled with the same repulsive logic that many americans apply to every other socio-political issue.

21 Apr 2021 16:55:18
Woolpack I get called all the names under the sun, but you don't give a monkeys what happens in aby other sport, really? Morale high ground for you?

21 Apr 2021 18:13:04
Anonymous Woolback, you g=fail to realise that for teams like Man United and Liverpool, most f their fanbase is now abroad. Most of it has never been to the UK and will never come to the UK. Just like Gary Neville said, imagine 150m Chinese paying just £1 a week to watch Man United on stream. That's a guarenteed income of £150m a week, every week, for 8 months of the year.

21 Apr 2021 18:58:55
Many of us foreign fans don’t want the super league either. I don’t know one person here in the U. S. that wasn’t disgusted by the super league proposal.

21 Apr 2021 16:57:29
Ed0666, I am a huge fan of the NFL and the NBA as well and like you, I do care about the health of other sports too, not just football which is my first love.

{Ed0666's Note - my first love is Meghan Fox shame that’s not reciprocated so I’ll have to make do with LFC & Eds 001
