John Barnes talking sense regarding the last few days of activity.

Drop mic moment.

Exactly what I've been thinking, when UEFA and FIFA are the good guys it just shows what crooks and conmen these owners are.

Plus one thing from last night, not Liverpool related but the balls on Petr Cech for going out into that crowd, good on him.

Thats the most sense i've heard on this debacle so far.

{Ed0666's Note - Why isn’t Digger running English football?!

21 Apr 2021 20:52:28
He's just killing it, now I hope people open their eyes, football for working class is dead and Finished. It's all abt elite, the 6 clubs war wasn't against fans, it was against UEFA/ FIFA. They wanted bigger pie which FIFA/ UEFA keeps on taking w/ o any transparency.

Sky, BT sports Clubs in EPL are doing same "EXPLOITING FANS" we should be the last person giving lectures abt morality to others lol.

I will vote for this guy even if I have to crawl to get to the booth.

Brilliant interview and top man. People are so enraged by the last 48 hours and obsessed with kicking the owners out that they are discounting the fact that the ESL is no different to how the PL was founded, we just didn’t have the social media and television rights companies dictating the narrative. I do not personally agree with the ESL however, look at the new CL format and tell me the underlying principle isn’t about exploiting fans and tv revenues. Many City’s Onuoha made a brilliant point stating over a decade has been spent trying to ban clubs and players from competitions when they racially abuse players yet nothing has ever happened and no action has been taken, yet the ESL threatens UEFA’s revenue and within the hour blanket bans to all clubs and players is threatened. I don’t know the answer here, empower E002 and we’d all rally behind that but maybe take a step back and if everyone wishes to rally to make change, then the right change needs to be identified not just one element of it that offends our sensibilities. I know I’ll get a stack of abuse and be told I’m not a fan but remember, sometimes it’s better the devil you know and I’m pleased an apology was made. They are business people and successful and we like them when they are given us stacks of transfer money but want them out when they try to do it in a way we don’t like. It was a wrong move but as Simon Jordan said, if it was an open competition what would be the argument then and is it possible to find a better solution rather than just threatening everyone. Just saying. Let the trolling commence.

Brilliant Digger.

22 Apr 2021 00:38:59
Wow! Nail, Head, Hit!

22 Apr 2021 01:15:20
Ed's if anyone argues with Digger's views, can we ban them for a year?

{Ed0666's Note - life ban mate for anyone that contradicts Digger!

22 Apr 2021 01:36:56
Agree with you Suffolk - it was the closed format of the proposed league that was its biggest failing. Rich clubs and businessmen are always going to look for ways to increase revenue and profits but the proposal tried to change the whole format and structure of the game while ensuring the elite 12 clubs could never suffer financially.
Twelve clubs with guaranteed commercial income at the expense of thousands of smaller clubs who would suffer in their wake.
Digger is utterly correct with what he says about the fans not gaining any victory. If your tap stops working, you go without water for a few days and get a plumber in. When the water is reconnected, you may feel happy that the temporary problem has been solved but you really only have your previous normal reinstated.
It encouraging to see players and managers being vocal about the leeches at the top who are trying to destroy football as we know it for their own gains. The more John Barnes’s involved in public discussions, the more chance of exposing the corruption and greed at the top of the organisations.

{Ed0666's Note - why the man isn’t running English football is beyond me? He has all the credentials, ex pro who played at the highest level, articulate, cerebral and respected.

the red mist took over, and humans are fickle. It is no surprise and equally understandable that people reacted the way they did.

22 Apr 2021 07:02:59
Wow my favourite player ever and what a fantastic true speaking interview that was.

His name is johny Barnes.

22 Apr 2021 08:04:12
OP, pretty much. Oh and you can add Sky and BT to that lot as well. They put out their mouthpieces like Rio, Neville, Carra and Lineker to rail against the ESL making them sound like the Voice of the People. Absolute tosh.

Could it be that they were stoking the flames cos their employers would lose their golden calf as in broadcasting rights for the PL and CL were the ESL to go thru? I know, me neither, lol.
