Apologies, I'm going to do one of those posts that Ed002 hates (as I'll get the numbers wrong! ) but that I just fancied posting!

Now that we are moving to the sharp end of the season, the transfer rumours are going a bit crazy so I thought I'd condense down what I HOPE will happen during the summer.

GK - I hope we sell Karius, Adrian will leave and we *may* bring in an experienced backup for the No3 slot. Hopefully raise £5m from sales.

Defence - Seems pretty nailed on we will buy Kabak and Konate. I suspect we will sell Matip and one of Davies or Phillips. Phillips has done well, but as we have discussed he is a particular type of CB that doesn't fit with the way we normally play. Davies seems to be more suited to hoe we play (on paper) but clearly he's not ready yet. Note sure which way it will go, but I think we should be able to raise £20m from Defence sales to offset against the (likely) £50m cost of the 2 Ks.

Midfield - We need to do some wholesale tidying up here. I expect Ox to leave (£15m), Keita to leave (£30m), Woodburn to leave (£5m), Harry Wilson to leave (£10m), Grujic to leave (£10m) , Shaq to leave (£15m) and Wiji to go on a free. I would like to buy Bissouma or a similar CDM option who can provide proper cover for Fabs as well as slotting in elsewhere in Midfield where required. I have tried to take the low estimates of sales figures, but if we can be realistic and find buyers, we're looking at around £85m raised from sales, with c£30m in costs for a young CM/ CDM.

So, in midfield we will have Fabs, Henderson, Jones, Thiago, new CM/ CDM and Firmino to choose from. We may see some more from the Academy being given a chance. Thinking about it, I could see, for example, Ox staying or indeed us buying 2 midfielders to as only having 5-6 may be a little light.

Up front I (sadly) expect Minamino to leave (£10m-£15m), Ojo to leave (£2m-£3m), Origi to leave (£15m) and I expect us to sell Mane (£100m) . So, £130m from forward player sales. Now, I know there appears to be no chance we could afford his wages, but I really believe we will find a way to get MBappe - not sure how, but a way will be found! Let's say £130m for Mbappe based on figures of €145-€150m being bandied about. I also believe we will sign a striker like Malen (who looks good on paper - £25m) and we will keep Elliot at the club next season.

So, a net £25m spend on defense/ GK, a net £55m income from midfield, and a net £25m spend on attack. Maybe spend will exceed sales as we may choose to either keep one of the midfielders and/ or buy 2.

I really think that Klopp and the Board realise that we need some wholesale shipping out of players who are not contributing (plus Mane, who I still think has plenty to give but is a very saleable asset to help the next evolution of Klopp's Liverpool) .

In my view we won't add a huge amount of players to the first team squad - Konate at the back (Kabak already being here), 1-2 midfielders and 1-2 forwards, not all of whom will need to be ready to play on day 1 of the new season. But I do believe this close season will be a watershed for a number of players who probably won't make it here anymore.

Whos going to pay 5m for woodburn and more importantly 100m for mane? lol.

26 Apr 2021 14:12:45
Great, thanks for your contribution Jurgen. Always a pleasure :)

26 Apr 2021 14:20:53
Zeddicus mate, the prices you expect us to pickup for our potentially outgoing players are hilarious.
100 million pounds for Mane? We'd have to throw in Bobby as part of the deal as well for the potential buyer to even consider giving us 100 million.
No club will pay a transfer fee for Woodburn (guy could not even hack it at Blackpool) .
Keita's sell price will be closer to 30 cents than 30 million pounds.
Shaq, Origi, Taki, Wilson, Ox will fetch max 10-12 million pounds apiece.
And we don't need Kabak.
Konate, a CM (Neuhaus/ Bissouma), a CF (Malen hopefully) and a Mane replacement will be a good window for us.

We should buy Cakir to keep Alisson on his toes and to cover his inevitable injuries. Kelleher should go on loan for a year or two. Cakir is an amazing shot-stopper and Ed002 said he might well be available.

26 Apr 2021 14:21:55
Like your spirit Z, but yes there are a few there, that while we'd like that ££, we may have to be bartered down a touch. I just hope we don't stand too firm on our prices, and show some flexibility.

Suspect keita might be a casing point, we're going to have to take a massive hit and we need to accept it rather than squabble to the point that he's here next year.

26 Apr 2021 14:30:00
Like I said, prices are my best guesses. However, Keita, a player who was smashing up the Bundesliga and who cost us £52.5m, do I believe we will get £30m for him? Hell yes!

Mane could be a sticking point, but let's wait and see. If we sell one of our front three, I would expect us to get £100m+ (or players to that value) for Mane or Salah. Bobby, I'd say £40m or thereabouts. He certainly hasn't depreciated from what we paid for him, in my view.

By the same token, Harry Wilson could command more as a top class Championship player, as could Grujic, for example.

Who knows, but if we sell one of the front 3, and manage to sell many of the players I have identified, I don't think we need an Arab sheik to afford our spending. Maybe £10-£20m fees injection (plus, the £ms and £ms on all of the extras like Agents fees etc! ) .

I'm interested to see what effect C.V. and the failure of the ESL will have on fees this summer.

£5m for Woodburn? £1m would be overly optimistic.

26 Apr 2021 14:36:12
And if we sell Salah we would not at all be able to adequately replace him, as we aren’t in a position to afford an absolutely top class goal scorer, sell him and next season is written off. End of.

26 Apr 2021 14:49:40
Like your idea zed but not a hope in hell we get near the money your looking for! max for mane 50m as for Keita he will go on loan no one will pay for him or match his wages as for the others we can only hope we get sumthn! We need to be realistic here lot of them players should of went soon as we won the league but the sentimental dears would of had a canary! I’d say they are sorry now!

26 Apr 2021 14:50:35
6Timnes, I didn't suggest Salah, I suggested Mane.

26 Apr 2021 15:03:43
Zed you're very wrong about the Keita figure. I doubt anyone would pay 30 Million for him; more like 20 Million. Simply because the buying team would have to factor in an additional 10 million plus for expenditure on expanding medical facility space for him, the additional medical machinery, and the additional medical staff, over a 5 year contract. And throw in a team of 3 for intensive language courses if he moves to a non-Germanic speaking country. That too should take around 5 years. Salaries and wages are separate.

26 Apr 2021 15:07:28
I know, Jay, its a challenge. I still think Mane has more value than £50m, but maybe c£75/ 80m may be more likely. He's still one of the best players in the world in his position right now.

I find myself frustrated, as I'm sure many of you feel too, that we apparently turn down seemingly good bids for our players. I guess the challenge is that we often see a) tabloid reports and b) the fact that a player is still there and put 2 and 2 together to get 7!

I really hope we are able to move on a few players this year as its not good for them or us for them to still be around.

26 Apr 2021 15:49:07
40 million for Firminho? No chance!

26 Apr 2021 15:52:23
Interesting Zedd, no one knows yet what the post C.V. prices will be. Or maybe half of Europe will still be without fans. My guess is the players we want to sell will hopefully bring in £100m or so.

26 Apr 2021 15:52:28
Zed the reality is who would be willing to spend those kind of figures on the likes of keita, mane, woodburn ect keita on top of all the crap is an injury prone enigma, mane ok yes on his day is as good as any but he plays on instinct and that seems to be gone with him turning 29 there is potential for him to also lose the explosive bursts of pace so i would say we will be lucky to fetch half of the quoted figure. I really hope like yourself that mike edwards waves his wand but in the current climate i see it as very unlikely.

26 Apr 2021 15:53:02
Is Cakir not Turkey's no. 1? If so, what would he be doing here behind Allison, arguably the best all-round GK on the planet? Also Would you have Liverpool pay 100m for Mane? Karius for 5m?

I know this is your best guess and I get it but come on, man. Some of these prices are hilarious;

26 Apr 2021 17:38:11
If we can get £25 million for brewster, 9million for ki jana hover 147 for coutinho why can’t we get the fees zedicus has stated? The club not as soft as some of you think.

26 Apr 2021 18:05:46
Thank you scouse john L8 :-)

I'm really intrigued, not just for us, but generally, as to what this market, with the continuation (but hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel) with C.V. but the failure of the ESL, is going to be like.

Not as bad as last year, I reckon (on balance) as the likelihood is that crowds will return in some way next season.

26 Apr 2021 19:03:39
Yep, numbers are well off lol
Who’s paying 15m for Origi or Shaq?
Sad fact is there’s not a lot of money going around right now so nobody’s going to want to buy mediocre players for decent money from us this summer. I think we would be lucky to get £20m for Kieta myself, he’s worth about £5m on current form.

26 Apr 2021 19:47:37
Here is an more accurate picture of outgoings

Matip - 5mill
Origi - 12 mill
Minamino - 12 mill
Wilson - 8 mill
Shaq - 8 mill
Awoyini - 5mill
Grabara - 1 mill
Keita - 22 mill + addons
Ox - 15 mill + addons
Tsimikas - 7 mill
Davies - 5mill
Gini - free
Woodburn - free
Philips or williams - 3million

Thats 100+ million which should account for loss of match day income.

Salah - 120 million
Mane - 70mill (personal choice)

That would bring in players. I don't see salah staying at all. We won't have champions league and there is no way madrid can land mbappe this year so they will wait on him. I don't think real can afford salah either but they will work some deal out with us. Anyways salah money can help us with 2-3 quality additions.
I would like us to move mane too. As jota is his replacement and then elliot is there too.
This will need to happen and if it does we might touch sustainability and even win the league next season

My four recommend buys are
CB - benoit badashille. I know we are in for konate but it a mistake. Benoit is a better player. 50 million

Playmaker -teun koopeminers i don't think we need a deep lying player but we do need to add goals from midefield. 30 million

Lw - amine ghiouri. He is your next salah. If he can grow stronger strength wise. i think he should we should sound him out -50 million

Striker- Aleksander isak - big strong fast young skillfull. Will provide something very different from bobby. Very direct too and great at corners - 50 million

If we can do this we might not win title next year but will surely be in CL and next title would be deilvered in two three years with a very young squad.

If we don't we might win the title next year but i don't think we can move on salah and mane then so we will be stuck.

Its probably the most crucial summer window.
