City likely on for a treble then this season. Chelsea have a chance of a double too. What would be success for us next season? If we’re in the europa/ europa conference I think winning that and top 4 has to be a bare minimum. Have a go at the title following season. We’re long overdue a good cup run too. One FA cup in 20 years, one league cup in 18, City have now matched us on 8. There seems to be too much acceptance about not taking the cups seriously, remember last season away to Chelsea we played almost a 2nd 11 when we were about 15 clear in the league? Our depth is very poor compared to other teams but you’d assume that’ll be addressed in the summer and it should help being in 4 competitions.

{Ed0666's Note - what about UEFA & Champions league aren’t they cups too? I’m pretty sure we’ve won some of them in the last few years.

Of course but we won’t be in the Champions league next season good a year as ever to play a stronger 11 in the cup games.

Getting quality players without CL (money) will be difficult, forget addressing our depth.

Our financial situation will just worsen, don't forget we still have to pay instalments of Jota, Thiago etc.

Personally with the lack of depth we have, I’d just focus on consolidating top 4 next season and a good run int he europa league (if we get in it that is) . I think at the moment city and chelsea are much stronger than we are and will continue to be stronger until we actually have some decent squad depth, as in two quality players per each position. Even West Ham are a better team than us at the moment!

I still thing we should be moving on a lot of players before even considering buying. Konate is done and that's one big gap closed. There is no other big gap. We do have a atleast 10 players to sell. This window has to be about selling and reducing wage bill getting in cash and holding tight.

We've been decimated by injuries and players have suffered with form, we've got plenty to look forward to next season with possibly a new CB and a couple of youngsters pushing established players, adding to that Jota fully integrated, backing the players might go a long way as well.

We will have as many games next year if we make the Europa Cup albeit to lesser teams for a fair part of the competition. I don't think we will have the depth in our squad, quality wise to challenge on all fronts. I would want the League again if possible and as far as we can in the Europa League. The FA and League Cup come way down on my desire.

I’m with you there Irish. I’d happily sacrifice both the FA Cup and League cup at the earliest possible opportunity. Play the under 23 side in those competitions as they’re of no substantial financial benefit to the club compared to the amount of games. Concentrate on the league as much as possible. Hopefully we’ll not make it to the Thursday cup so we’ll be able to focus on just one thing.

I really can’t believe anyone could suggest not bothering with the domestic cups and anything less than champions league is not worth it.
I want to play every tournament and win every tournament. It’s the only way I can accept being a Liverpool fan.

6Times shocked that any supporter of any club would be happy to leave any competition at the earliest opportunity, disappointed that those words came from a Liverpool fan is an understatement, I'm sure the staff players and most supporters would disagree .

Klopp isn’t bothered about them, that’s absolutely true. The financial rewards simply aren’t worth it compared to winning the league and getting back in the champions league, and let’s be absolutely honest, Wembley is a soulless khazi of a place built for the prawn sandwiches brigade. The FA cup died as a competition when United were allowed to opt out of it.

Scrapping the cups to focus on top 4 is a horrible idea. We still talk about the Gerrard final in 06, has anyone ever said “remember when we finished 3rd the next season” Give me a trophy over 2nd-4th anyday, however top 4 AND a trophy is the absolute bare minimum for me next season. 2 consecutive seasons trophyless and 2 seasons out of the CL isn’t acceptable at all.
