Don't understand Konate move on his part if it happens.
Must be money motivated, as they've guaranteed UCL football and we are nowhere near.

I got murdered for saying this. I don't get it either. And we are again tapping him up. Also i haven't seen him play but i do have friends who are def very knowledgeable about Bundesliga and both of them have said he isn't solving any of our defensive problems.
Also the cost is too high. Fingers crossed and i hope he makes me eat my doubts.

The chance to play for Liverpool while being managed by Jurgen Klopp will appeal to many. It did to Van Dijk.
And it's a bit of a short sighted view, we might not be in the CL next season but if we get our mojo back we'll be right in the thick of it again the season after.
Most players considering a move will look at the long term prospects rather than what competitions they will be playing in a few months later.

What kind of wind-up stuff is this? Ah well, you’ve reeled me in.
Liverpool are an elite club with a history illustrious enough to compete with any other.
We have a squad stacked with top players and the best manager in the game as our coach. One season in which almost everything has gone against us does not change that.
Konate will probably be earning more than double what he does at Leipzig, but he’d have done that wherever he chose to move.

I'm not sure if it's money related James although that is always a benefit when it comes to moving to the Premier League. I suppose the Premier League is more prestigious than the Bundesliga and, Champions League or not, Liverpool is still a massive and historic club who will still have the chance of challenging for trophies next year regardless of whether we get in the top 4 or not. You can't always base career decisions on whether a club has qualified for the Champions League that year because it is only for one year at a time.

If West Ham get in the top 4 this year, are they then a bigger, more attractive club than Liverpool? Absolutely not because long term they are not going to be there on an annual basis - the club just doesn't have the facilities to achieve that.

Having been got to the Champions League knockout rounds for the last four years, got to the final in 2018, won it in 2019, got close to 100 points in the Premier League in 2019 and won it last year, it is clear we are a big club again now and one blip season with an injury crisis in defence and a congested fixture schedule doesn't change that.

There is also the added factor of nagelsmann leaving at the end of their season, so the future of RBL isn’t so clear. I do agree that we do not look as attractive a prospect as we did before, since a lot of things are unclear for us. We most likely won’t be in the CL next season even though we had multiple opportunities to do so, which means europa, which means no PL title. There’s uncertainty surrounding the players that are leaving and the ones that are staying, clearly there’s some type of rebuild that needs to happen since some top players have reached the end of their time here. I think one important incentive, is indeed money, but the other would be to play with one of the consensus top managers in the world alongside arguably the best defender in the world currently when fit.

There’s allure for a player like Konate to play for liverpool even in our current state same way pogba left juve for United or auba for Arsenal, we achieved quite a lot in the 2 previous seasons. I’m just extremely concerned with why we keep targeting injury prone players, the recruitment is very risky at times, especially in a time where we can’t be taking big risks financially. If things go wrong again next season, I think that’ll be the end of the klopp era, so let’s hope we make the right moves in and out during the summer.

{Ed002's Note - The future of RBL is clear, Jesse Marsch will be the new coach.}

What defensive problems? Last time i checked at least 3,maybe 4 from our back five would get into any side in the league.

10 May 2021 14:48:58
So Jamesred93, a supposed Liverpool supporter thinks that Konate is moving from RB Leipzig, a club that has never won a major trophy to six times European champions Liverpool only for the money because Liverpool may not play in the champions league next season? Lol.

The cost is certainly not too high. Circa £32 million is relatively cheap in this day and age.

{Ed0666's Note - I honestly think this fella under klopp will turn into a world beater

10 May 2021 16:37:49
That is uf he stays fit.

Playing at Utd when they were nailed on to play EL footie did not deter Pogba, Ibra, Lukaku or Mkhytarian from joining Utd so not sure why Konate (not a household name btw) wanting to join an institution like Liverpool, one of the most successful clubs in recent memory under a proven, top class manager, be so baffling.
