Paul Merson has claimed and has been quoted as saying that Chelsea and Leicester deserve being placed in the top 4, while Liverpool does not.

What an utter idiot. Do they not have any screening mechanisms for functional brain cells when they hire these kind of people to mouth off? The ultimate decider of what deserves and what doesn't deserve are the points tally at the end of the 38 games. Nothing less and nothing more. That's why the points are there. The bad part about all this is that some people reading or watching such tripe is that they get influenced and swayed in their thinking.

Merson's brain cells were burnt out in the 90's via alcohol and drugs, and indicative of why he still doesn't understand the sport he has been involved in (I use that that term extremely loosely) for the last 30 plus years.

Silly statement, i agree. Leicester had a good start and middle to the season. Chelsea had a good middle and end to the season. We've had a good start and good end to the season. All 3 teams had a third of the campaign where they under performed which is why they're in a top 4 race and not a title race. Who ever finishes 3rd and 4th after 38 games deserves it.

Seen a article the other day that showed this season Leicester have spent the most days in the top 4 this season and then it’s us 2nd. Amazing to think we have spent longer in the top 4 this season than the Champions City.

If you have the 4th best record in the league, then you deserve to be 4th. Simple as that. Maybe Mers doesn't understand how numbers work?

If we 'don't deserve it' because of how piss we were in Jan and Feb, then surely a team that let's us overtake them in the last month doesn't deserve it either? Cos they must've been at least as poor somewhere along the line too? Otherwise they'd get more points than us, right?

If we win our match and win it comfortably then all other results are irrelevant. If we only win 1-0 Leicester would still have to win by more than 5 goals. And Spurs won’t want that after all the Harry Kane stuff this week.

Table doesn’t lie. If we get fourth it’s because we’ve done enough. Thankfully it’s in our hands again because of hard work, determination and playing actual centre backs, Williams and Phillips contribution cannot be underplayed.
