Absolutely hilarious and unsurprising to see after the ‘i told you so’ hyperbole post-Croatia. England have done exactly what they always do, what i expected them to do. I was so sure of a 0-0 i went all in on the England backline on my fantasy, had a feeling stones would score and captained him, was inches away from soaring to the top of my fantasy league😭

They were terrible after 25 minutes in that Croatia game against a team that were much worse than anyone expected them to be. They got away with Southgates typically ridiculous team selection and the chickens are beginning to come home to roost. No England manager has ever understood how simple International footie is, they always want to be the big shot, the big genius, make everything a hundred times more complicated than it needs to be.

Look at Mancini for Italy. He completely gets it. Picks the best players based on form, chooses a formation that they are all familiar with and asks them to play in the same style they all like to play. 433, high press, the in form players playing in their best positions, job done. No unnecessary pressure, stupid publicity stunts or taking it all too seriously, just keeping the players happy and confident and allowing them to go out and enjoy themselves. That is all you have to do. Unfortunately for England fans the Waistcoat Wally just wants to make it all about him, while also being too scared to drop his favourite players in case their mums ring him after the game and give him a firm telling off.

Good job i don’t give a toss about them otherwise i’d want to pull my hair out. The inevitable implosion always makes for very entertaining viewing though.

You give a toss mate as no one else is bothered by the result.

Has it come home yet?

Absolutely shocking from England!
Kane the golden boot winner turns into Origi and can’t run. The best player on the pitch Foden is subbed, Sterling runs into a dead end every time he gets the ball and we play two holding midfielders that can’t pass forward! The game was crying out for Hendo and a bit of leadership. Ohhh and let’s not forget we have the worst manager on the planet Gareth! I mean come on the bloke is making Fat Sam look good .

Just been pleased so far that Hendo (and TAA) have been spared the ignominy of being involved with the usual England sh*epshow. Just come back in one piece mate.
Robbo leading by example as ever.

I give a toss as far as anyone can when it comes to morbid curiosities, mine being the downfall and implosion of Gareth Southgate’s England career. Akin to sitting back and watching the Hindenburg Zeppelin crash to Earth, or watching Notre Dame burn down, there is something beautiful and transfixing about watching England cock up at a major tournament. Like the Fibbonaci sequence, the biannual England implosion is simply an inevitable reoccurring pattern in nature; the pre-tournament hype, the 1-0 drab win that gets everyone excited, the faux bewilderment at the terrible management leading to a mid tournament malaise and subsequent early exit, the riots, the fallout, the national hangover. I enjoy this process on its own merits anyway but such is my desire to see Southgate fail, my interest has peaked significantly.

The stuff summers are made of.

That was beautifully put Woolback. Wordsworth and Keats couldn’t have put it better.

AW, I fully agree with all you have said but really, should anyone be surprised? Southgate is who we always thought he was regardless of the Croatia game. Same with his players, team selections, subs and tactics. I saw people on here bigging up Kalvin Phillips. Didn’t know he was playing as he was being bossed all over the midfield by MacGinn who none of the England mids could get close to. I know he is a good player but the hype needs to be turned down a couple of notches.

England implosion? How can that happen if they were never good to begin with and haven’t been good since Euro 96? As I said, England and Southgate are who we thought they were. Sorry that TAA is injured but happy he was not part of that shambles cos we know the media would have targeted him for criticism.

Loved it best game since the prem finished! Here’s hoping the Czechs can go one better and win shouldn’t be too hard right? 😂.
