Would love to sign Mcginn. Great potential.

{Ed0666's Note - have people lost leave of their senses? McGinn over Nehaus or Bissouma?????

Agree1 Disagree0

I just have a gut feeling he would fit right in to the teams attitude, and he has a got a little bit of magic in him.

{Ed0666's Note - well let’s hope we don’t sign players on gut feelings then mate 😂

I'm with you Ed0666!

23 Jun 2021 20:03:30
666 mate - looking at Ed002’s comment, I rather doubt we’ll sign either of the above unfortunately.

{Ed0666's Note - I live in Hope brother

We are addicted to shopping in home and bargain, looking for quality lower price goods.

23 Jun 2021 20:39:03
I don't think McGinn at £50m would be a bargain, hailstones!

{Ed014's Note - just a waste of £50 million

Jones > McGinn.

23 Jun 2021 21:34:45
I like McGinn. He scored 3 and assisted 6 in the league last season. That's more goal involvements than Thiago, Fabinho, Henderson and Wijnaldum combined.

As box to box midfielders go, he's pretty good. Never worth £50m mind you. Maybe £25-30m. Just looking at it from a character perspective, i worry we'll be soft in midfield when Henderson and Milner start winding down. McGinn is a tenacious, high octane player. Sometimes you need a guy who will just smash into a 50/ 50 to get the crowd going.

He's under rated in my opinion. He doesn't walk straight into our team, but with Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago in the middle who does? Because Bissouma and Nehaus certainly don't either.

See a lot of people hell bent on multiple midfielders, but as well as Hendo, Fab and Thiago we also have Jones, Milner, Grujic, Keita, Ox, Shaq, Wilson and Elliott who can all play variations of midfield roles. We need to shift at least 4 of them before we start thinking about adding to a list of 11 midfield players.

23 Jun 2021 22:37:26
Are you sure Bissouma or Nehaus don’t get in instead of Thiago? I think they both suit the way we play better.

23 Jun 2021 22:57:29
McGinn is a fine player for Aston Villa he would t make the step up at LFC no offence to him but not many would.

What a nonsense statement hailstones. We may not always sign the flashiest names, but we spend a very healthy amount of money and spend more than just about anyone in the country on wages to retain our best players.

Salah, Firmino and Mane were all bought in successive summers for around £35 million all add ons included (which would be more than Bissouma or Neuhaus now adjusting for inflation) .

Ox for £35 million and Keita for £50 million, both of whom rarely play.

van Dijk for £75 million, a world record for a defender.

Alisson for how much was it, £60 million? World record for a goalkeeper at the time of the transfer?

Fabinho for £35 million and Wijnaldum for £25 million.

Thiago for £20 million and Jota for £35 million IN A C.V. AFFECTED FINANCIAL YEAR.

Then we have all the players we brought in for cheap, who were not the flashiest but certainly turned out to be the RIGHT players; Gomez, Matip, Robertson, Milner even Shaqiri, whom we’ve definitely got our moneys worth out of for what we paid.

Money is practically irrelevant to Liverpools transfer strategy. They will sign the right players, at the right time, if the price is right. They have far more hits than misses and have proved that it doesn’t always come down to signing the biggest names. If football was as simple as just buying the most expensive players then it wouldn’t be a very entertaining sport. I have full faith that they will continue this philosophy this summer, and will sign a centre forward and a midfielder IF the right opportunities present themselves, which i am sure they will. Don’t sit there moaning that we won’t sign a top midfielder like Neuhaus or Bissouma and that we never go for players like that; we regularly do, and they are both very much within our reach if we can get the funds from sales.

I swear some people are never happy.

23 Jun 2021 23:19:29
Yes I agree MK, just per the eds info we are after a midfielder but that would surely spell the end for Keita, there would be no room. Wilson Grujic Shaq also all to leave. I am certain McGinn would genuinely go up a level playing with us, it is hard to say about price but that is something as a fan I really do not think about. Having said that I do not believe we will sign him, I do trust the decision makers right now, they have still earned that trust.

23 Jun 2021 23:42:50
I like McGinn. Very under rated.

24 Jun 2021 01:18:11
Liverpool buying Scottish players never works out.

24 Jun 2021 04:24:11
One of the tings I love about Klopp compared to Brodgers is that he is much more self controlled when it comes to transfers. Tends to only buy if he is persuaded the player will be good for the team and so is prepared to wait til a player becomes available at the right price.

24 Jun 2021 06:56:09
MK - 33% of those goal contributions came against us.

24 Jun 2021 08:25:29
Don't want him, but couldn't be a worse buy than Charlie Adam.

24 Jun 2021 08:44:40
MacGinn? I like him BUT for 50m? Sorry, hard pass on that one. We can get Bissouma or Neuhaus for cheaper reportedly so waste of money and he is not even better than either of those targets so as Ed666 said, people may have lost their minds.

24 Jun 2021 11:54:38
At £50m McGinn is a hard pass. There are far better players around for less than that. Don’t get me wrong, he’s decent enough and a far better and effective centre midfielder than Keita by a mile (though that’s not entirely difficult), but if we’re lashing out that kind of money we might as well go with Bissouma or Neuhaus as they’re both younger by two or three years and likely to be cheaper.

24 Jun 2021 13:54:26
Has no one ever watched The Apprentice? If 50m is the actual price quoted then it is nothing more than a shock tactic as an attempt to get closer to what they actually want. They know no one will pay close to that. It's about negotiation and Villa are highballing intentionally. I reckon MK has called it right. About 25-30m seems par and more than that would not be worth following up.
