Man City can’t spend £300m on 2 players without having to recoup a large portion of it. Even with those 2 signings our first 11 is superior. Grelish will get found out about buying fouls very quickly in a high profile team.

Man City can spend what they want on whom they want without ever recouping a penny. It is very obvious there will never be any punishment for spending 100s of millions that have never been earned by the club. May as well get used to the fact the Premier Leauge is now a farmers league with one team winning it for the next 10 years, whilst thier "second" 11 consisting of 11 players all valued over 40 million wins the domestic cups. They will buy Kane and Grealish, probably get Mbappe and Harland as well. Why not they can afford them.

With you Mark, our first 11 delivered the premier league last season and were only one point behind the season before….

Man City’s first 11 ( minis Laporte ) were 20 points behind at Christmas.

Our issue is past the first 11 and that’s where we came unstuck last season.

They can only play 11 players at once even if their bench will be full of superstars. . no change, recreate the mentality that pushed them all the way and eventually overtook them. We have some excellent players, hopefully a bit of luck with injuries etc and we will push them all the way.

I don’t see Mark’s point as being that ridiculous.

I wouldn’t swap Alisson, the full backs or Virg, so that’s 4 of the back 5. I wouldn’t swap out Fab for Rodri and I wouldn’t swap our front 3 because of how they play together as a 3.

The difference with Man City is they can have the likes of Sterling, Silva, Mendy, Torres, Cancelo, Laporte, Ake, Fernandinho, Jesus etc waiting on the bench to make an impact, which over the course of a season, will make a massive difference unless we stay injury-free.

LiverpoolFC8 financial fair play has been loosened up coz of pendemic and has given opportunities to clubs like City PSG etc to go big this summer.

{Ed077's Note - not completely true. The rules are same for all the clubs. LFC was ran very close to the financial edge so has suffered a bit more from the loss of income due to the pandemic, just like West Ham and Dortmund for example. All teams need to balance the books though.

Digne wil go, Rodriguez is overrated, Calvert Lewin overrated, Gambin injury prone, Pickford is a joke, mina can’t wait to leave which is a good thing, arguably your best defender is coming to the end of his career ( Coleman) so good luck Ed.

Calver lewin is not very good Ed c'mon you still got the blue glasses on he’s on par with origi at best and we can’t give him away, Pickford can only kick a ball and will be sold if they can find a decent replacement which won’t be hard. Kenwright should retire and settle down on the cobbles with Rita furclough.

Your correct Ed there isn’t that much between our clubs distance wise but success, well there’s miles. Banter aside I’ve no bitterness towards Everton because they will always be inferior to us . But even a staunch blue like yourself needs to realise yes we had the worst luck with injuries last season and still got 3rd . With mr klopp at the helm we are capable of anything . As for Everton’s management set up 5 managers in as many seasons. Apart from Carlo who is a great manager by the way looking back at the previous 3, two hasbeens and that las from Watford who didn’t have a clue. Rafa looks like he’s going there to retire so good luck Ed I think you may need it. People’s club hahahah.

And probably Robbo. I am as convinced as I can be that last year was a freak season. Our medical department is a concern but I am sure we are analysing everything in the off season. If we get an average number of injuries we will be golden. Then it’s up to the players to prove they are the best
Allison has to prove he is better than Ederson
VVD better than Dias
Trent better than Walker
Mane better than Grelish
Etc
I think our players are hurting and they will come our firing.

Ed025, genuine question here. If you lot want "champagne football" why are Kenwright and Moshri interviewing the likes of Rafa and Nuno? Neither are renowned for anything remotely resembling attacking football. Seems to me looking in from the outside that they are seeing how far they can push your fans until they snap.

I do genuinely hope Rafa or whoever does get them back. If you're a true supporter of the City of Liverpool you'd want it back like the 80's when Merseyside was the Mecca of English football. Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember and would love to see it again.
