Good evening Ed002. Would you be able to elaborate on your 'surprise' comment. Should we expect a surprise on the incomings, outgoings or both.
Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Then it would not be a surprise.}

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jul 2021 22:36:21
It would still be half a surprise. We have been reasonably well behaved on this page recently.
All the best Ed,

06 Jul 2021 00:49:07
Personally, if it happens I believe it will be something like Fabinho which seemingly came from nowhere. No one was suggesting he was an option and then there it was. Just a thought.

06 Jul 2021 04:06:48
Ed002 said aeons ago don't be surprised if PSG make an offer for Salah. Either that's the surprise or the surprise will be Liverpool accepting the offer.

06 Jul 2021 05:06:22
Surprise our window is done? As much as I read we are buying this or that player. I also read Klopps happy with squad. Returning players like VVD, Matip and Gomez are like new signings. OX looks good as a 10. Focus now on new contracts. Elliot to get his chance, Jones more game time.
Can see the surprise being that’s that. We know know who the club want to sell and they’ve no impact on the match day team. So.

06 Jul 2021 06:15:52
We definitely need to buy a striker. We are over reliant on Mo and Sadio right now and Firmino has been very inconsistent.

{Ed001's Note - Jota?}

06 Jul 2021 07:03:16
Yes, Jota too. But I still feel we need to add another striker.

Ed001 do you think we'll see more matches this season where all of Firmino, Jota, Mane and Salah start? It could certainly work against teams that sit back.

{Ed001's Note - it depends on fitness, we would have seen it more last season if Jota didn't miss so many games.}

06 Jul 2021 06:28:37
If it’s Cilla I’m done.

06 Jul 2021 07:25:34
If PSG make an offer for Salah and we accept it I’d pretty much write off next season. There’s no one in the squad capable of scoring the amount of goals he scores and I’m not confident in FSG bringing in a remotely adequate replacement.

06 Jul 2021 08:00:41
Salah would thrive at PSG, unfortunately. He seems to have been angling for a big money move for a while now too (or at least his agent has) . Malen could be his replacement?
Pure speculation based on rumour and zero solid evidence but i could imagine it happening.

06 Jul 2021 08:13:52
Not confident about FSG bringing in a Salah replacement - who brought in Salah and most of the other players in the first place?
It's also hilarious when folks claim "Salah is angling for a move" because they're so desperate for some transfer speculation with no evidence of it at all.

{Ed002's Note - The issue is that the forwards are aging.}

06 Jul 2021 08:23:22
Salah and Messi to PSG and mbappe to us surely?

06 Jul 2021 08:23:58
Losing Salah this season would be a disaster, especially with clubs around us looking to invest heavily.

The surprise could be a sharkopod ed002?

06 Jul 2021 08:25:00
I can’t see it. FSG aren’t that stupid. It would mean zero chance of winning the PL and we be scrambling for 4th. Salah for Malen would undo years of hard work. Their model is to build the club and sell it, this would de value the club.
I am slightly concerned though I have to admit.

06 Jul 2021 08:47:48
Mark is absolutely spot on. Good luck to FSG trying to explain away that they got Salah sold this window.

06 Jul 2021 08:57:12
And Salah is a monster when it comes to training and has an excellent lifestyle. He won't fade away like a Hazard, and still has 3-4 years at the top of his game.

The only reason to sell would be that his value will drop but we should not sell unless we have a world class replacement lined up.

06 Jul 2021 10:13:39
I love Salah but he is 30 mext year, has 2 years left on contract and the player we'll get most money for. Plus Salah fancies a move to PSG as we know.

If PSG over 100 plus mil pounds the club will likely accept as its too good an offer for a player with 2 years left on contract. Replacement could be Raphinha or Neto on half the cost.

06 Jul 2021 10:36:08
Raphinha and Neto aren’t remotely good enough to replace Salah, neither of them look like scoring in double figures in a league campaign at the highest level and there’s nothing to suggest that they would either. It would be like trying to replace Luis Suarez with Balotelli….

06 Jul 2021 11:40:23
With PSG rumoured to be offering Messi a contract as well as several other high profile players, I just don't see how they could afford to pay a transfer fee and obscene wages for Salah without breaking FFP rules. The only way it works is if Mbappe leaves this season.

{Ed002's Note - PSG have not approached Liverpool over signing Salah.}

06 Jul 2021 12:48:43
Reply to VVVV, both are not Salah but that's what the scouting team is paid to do. They are examples im sure u get the point. Raphinha stats suggest he will score and assist. Who knows if its 10 20 or 30. Did u think Salah would get 30?

06 Jul 2021 13:01:37
T-D red is spot on. Salah is our best player. You don't sell your best player unless he has shown a dip in production OR he wants to move. Selling him cos he is about to turn 30 is just stupid esp if you have NOBODY who can replace his production, his influence, his presence and impact on the team and the opponents right away. We did that with Suarez replaing him with Balotelli and Lambert and we know the rest. That would be utter suicide.

That said, Raphinha (who I love) should be brought in to play with Salah and Mane. Not to replace him nor Mane cos he is NOT at their level yet. That much is a fact. Neto (who I don't rate) even less as he is not even near Jota's ability either. Just my opinion.

06 Jul 2021 14:00:50
Rambo, when we signed Salah I thought he’d at least replicate his Roma form which was around 15 goals a season, which is great output from a winger in its own right, but there’s not one shred of evidence that would draw one to the conclusion that either of Raphinha or Neto could get 20 goals + a season, that’s the bar that Salah has set and that’s the sort of player we need to bring in, a bone fide 20 a season player as we don’t score from midfield we need that type of player. Not a gamble.

06 Jul 2021 14:58:49
Spot on, VVVV. I think people are desperate to get a "shiny new toy" that they have easily forgot all the things Salah and the front 3 as a whole, have done for us. The bar they have set esp Salah, is so high that NO "shiny new toy" is going to be able to replicate that in the short term, I don't think esp if Raphinha and Neto are who people are fawning all over for. Trust me, they will miss Salah (and the whole front three, IMO) when they are gone.

06 Jul 2021 15:19:34
Exactly Oli, be careful what you wish for in case it comes true! Salah has proved he’s an absolutely top class player and a consistently prolific goal scorer over the last 4 years. I know the term World Class is lazily bandied about nowadays but Salah is world class. If he was Brazilian or Argentinian the world and his dog would be going mad over him and it’s not unfair to say he’s probably one of the greatest African footballers ever.

06 Jul 2021 18:27:19
Spot on, VVVV. Salah is an int’l superstar. World class player and global icon, period. And it’s not as if Salah has shown signs of slowing down. The guy is STILL getting it done so like you said, those who want Salah sold cos they are thirsty for the shiny new toys we can get with his fee, are fooling themselves and taking the bait.

If we sell Salah today for whatever fee, his replacement’s club is going to want as much of the cash we got for him and will stick us for every penny they can. This is where you start overpaying for players nowhere near Salah’s ability. Andy Carroll ring a bell?

Even if we get Mbappe, who says he’s going to drop 20 his first season? No one, that’s who. Like you said, these people thirsty for transfers had better be careful what they wish for.
