Anyway looking forward to the new season, would just like to talk about Curtis Jones, a little bit more pressure will be applied to him this season, as last season was his first full with the first team, what hopes do people have for him? can he nail down a first team place?

Agree6 Disagree0

12 Jul 2021 18:09:52
All he can do is hoof and rush because he is English right?

12 Jul 2021 18:19:36
He has a lot of potential for sure. I like his neat and tidy play and he’s evidently an elegant player. I’d like to see him be a little more adventurous, more penetration in his passing and his interlink play. Most importantly, he needs to chip in with goals.

12 Jul 2021 18:24:05
If he keeps working hard then I have no doubt we will be seeing the best of him!

12 Jul 2021 18:33:06
Hahaha Thunderbird that really chuckled me lol.

12 Jul 2021 19:03:27
Breakout year. international debut by end of season.

{Ed0666's Note - will he be in tne squad to go to the World Cup tho?

12 Jul 2021 19:35:49
The boy has certainly got talent. I expect him to kick on next season, I think he is 20 years old now, time for him to show what he can do. Does he make the World Cup squad? He will if he has the right attitude but he will need to be a Liverpool starter by then.

12 Jul 2021 20:14:36
I think CJ played a potboiler than was previewed by the coaches and he handled the workload very well in the main. Of course, his legs went and got jaded a bit and was later injured and that kind of slowed him down BUT in the games he played, I felt he more than held his own esp in the bigger games.

I expect Holbrook kick incandescent be a much more prominent first teamer. CJ is a hard worker witch’s good work ethic and you know you won’t play for Klopp if you are a slacker. Just ask Naby. Really excited for him.

12 Jul 2021 20:25:43
Spell check issues Oli?! 🤷‍♂️😂.

12 Jul 2021 20:42:20
If he's a L'pool regular by the end of 2022 i would assume he'd be on the plane to Qatar.

{Ed025's Note - only if he trains to be a pilot or stewardess JH, has shown very little up to now mate, typical bigging up of a player who plays for liverpool again..

12 Jul 2021 20:12:09
Oh dear Thunderbird having a bad day are we?

12 Jul 2021 20:58:26
He did show a fair bit while beating Everton with Liverpool's U21s didn't he Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - he scored a fine goal reet but you cant live on that for 2 years mate, he could come good you never know but my gut says he is too slow and will end up in a lower division....just an opinion mind..

12 Jul 2021 21:17:33
If Liverpool move to a 4-2-3-1 type formation on a regular basis, I can see Curtis Jones excelling. We might even get a tune out of Keita playing it as well.
I’m not sure how suited Jones is to a midfield 3 though, it doesn’t feel as if it is in his natural inclination to play like that, at 100mph.

{Ed025's Note - yeah i can see that juicer, jones and keita running the midfield....and then baby bear said "somebody has eaten all my porridge".. :)

12 Jul 2021 21:31:37
Ed25 do you think he holds onto the ball a bit too long? A bit like Barkley?

{Ed025's Note - he does seem to dwell on the ball a bit long MR, i think he is unsure of his role to be honest, is he box to box?, is he a holding player? i dont know, but hes only young and maybe he will be an asset in the future, at the moment he will struggle to get near the squad...even though he will be captaining the national team in the world cup apparently.. :)

12 Jul 2021 21:51:38
The ‘attacking midfielder’ position Ed025, no?
Suits both players better I feel anyway.
Keita can’t seem to get away with the workload in a 3 and I don’t think it’s Jones’ thing either tbh.

{Ed025's Note - im not sure where either of them fit in juicer, both squad players for me at best, especially if you bring one or 2 in mate..

12 Jul 2021 22:10:20
There’s literally no tune to play out of Keita. He’s a waste of a shirt, needs to be binned off at the soonest opportunity. He’s about as effective as Joe Allen, and he had all the presence of a carrier bag blowing in the wind.

12 Jul 2021 23:11:28
I would like to see Curtis cover Mane's spot in the cup games, I think that is his best position.

12 Jul 2021 22:16:41
Ed025, kindly note. If it's not we, on the Liverpool supporters banter page, who will big up the Liverpool players, who are you expecting to do it? We know it won't be you. But it's so cool that the LFC players make you eat humble pie fairly regularly and often. 😋.

{Ed025's Note - part of my duties ArAy is to keep your feet on the ground, yes i have made the odd mistake and thats fair, but 98% of the time i am right and this has been proven beyond doubt over the years, i happen to like your club and most of its supporters mate , in fact a lot of my friends are reds...well acquaintances really.. :)

12 Jul 2021 22:22:23
Sorry Ed025 but have to respectfully disagree. Great potential, really tidy player and I think he has a big future in the game, hopefully with us. Less than a 5% chance he plays championship in the next 10 years, definitely think he has plenty for the premier league level.

Fabinho, Hendo, Thiago, Bissouma (or other new) . then Curtis Jones is our next best and for 3 midfield spots he should get plenty matches/ minutes.

{Ed025's Note - i love to see youth coming through sean and especially local lads, but i just dont see it with curtis mate...i could be proved wrong of course but as we all know that doesn,t happen very often.. :)

12 Jul 2021 22:36:36
He has to be on the plane Ed. who else would look after Elliott! the futures Red.

{Ed025's Note - the only way they will be on the plane jadon....is if they are taking an inch off the front door mate.. :)

12 Jul 2021 23:04:35
Oli, I'm holbrook, but my playing days are well done mate.

12 Jul 2021 22:07:39
I have agree with ed25 to a degree but the jury is out and I'm reserving judgement at this stage. I hope he does well but do have my doubts.

13 Jul 2021 10:32:25
I’m reserving my judgment too. Curtis does look too casual sometimes, and also doesn’t release the ball quickly enough. Whereas I think he can easily replace Keita and be a vast improvement, I don’t believe he can step in and replace Wijnaldum, we are going to need to buy.

13 Jul 2021 11:52:54
CJ last year got thrown into the team ahead of schedule and had to adapt to a position he hadn’t played at youth level. I think he did remarkably well and see him being a good addition to the squad going forward, whether he becomes a nailed on starter and top performer I don’t know but last season he showed his worth as a squad player at only 19 years of age in one of the best teams in the country. He really doesn’t have to improve that much to be a valuable asset to the club. At the very worst I would expect him to forge out a good career at another prem club.

13 Jul 2021 11:40:52
AHH ed 25 I remember you saying fabinho wasn't a good player not too long back. Do you actually watch Liverpool matches?

{Ed025's Note - i do you know pete, i have paid my dues on that one mate and it was based on his time at monaco where i thought he was very average, but i dont get many wrong...see bobby.. :)

13 Jul 2021 11:54:17
Ed025 I’m sure you said the same about Fabinho recently as well. You might not be wrong very often but it’s a different story when it comes to midfielders who play for Liverpool 😉.

{Ed025's Note - yeah that was a faux pas by me mikey, but i have been right about most of your players mate and will continue to critique until you stop telling me that all your players are world class .. :)

14 Jul 2021 12:49:37
More by trial and error than anything else.

14 Jul 2021 13:13:07
Not sure he’s anything to prove. Curtis would walk into most EPL squads. He’s young so a little raw. But what has he proven so far? Klopps trust. Started games or been an oncoming sub (we have many that appear on the bench but don’t touch grass) . Has scored goals and assisted at top level. Can run. Dribble through players at EPL level. Up against a midfield three, Fab, Gini and Hendo. But had had game time. How many his age within a EPL title winning/ holders/ chasing team up against the quality of those starting three can you name? Maybe Foden? A super talent. Another? He’s nowhere near Foden but in circumstances can’t think of another breakthrough from youth squad that plays within title winning teams. Support. Realise. Appreciate.
