He actually does get in the top sides, Ed025. This is an entirely subjective subject - you'll stick to your view, I'll stick to mine, but to try and give some level of objectivity to it, Let's look at transfermkt. Robbo is ranked 40th in the world in terms of most valuable players and 2nd in the world in terms of most valuable LB.

Above him is Alphonso Davies (Bayern - £70m) then Robbo at £65m. Below him are the following:

Hernandez (AC Milan - £50m)
Mendy (Real Madrid - £50m)
Chilwell (Chelsea - £45m)
Shaw (Man Utd - £42m)

Digne is ranked 11th in value (£35m) .

Now clearly there's going to be a bit of debate as to who's best out of those top 5, and it does depend a lot on how they fit the system of their team etc. But its pretty obvious that the world ranks Robertson more highly than Digne, and that both Robertson and Digne are in the top 15 in the world, but Robertson is in the top 2!

You could argue that age comes into it - younger players of a similar level will be ranked more highly than older ones.

Well on that basis, Robbo's value is even more impressive given he's 27. The only players older than him in the top 15 in the world are Digne (28) and Spinazzola (28).

So, everyone is entitled to their view - that's what makes the world an interesting place. But when your view is so clearly a daft one, don't be surprised when people call you out on it!

When you watch Robbo live every other week, midweek in Europe, you really get to see how good he is. I think most will appreciate, one never really gets to understand a player until you see them live at a match.

I bet most people backing Robbo probably didn’t even want him here when we bought him lol. Stats can prove anything you want them to and values mean nothing. It’s all about the system and how the specific attributes a player has allow them to fit into that system. What makes a better player is entirely subjective. Is Chilwell a better ‘technical’ player than Robbo? Probably. But Robbo is a workhorse so fits the system better. Does that make him the better player or not? Again, subjective and ultimately irrelevant. You can make a world class team out with a group of average players if the set up and coaching is done well. The main point being who is the ‘better player’ doesn’t matter. We have a player that does exactly what the team needs him to and that’s good enough for me.
