watching the friendly (vs Salzburg? ) the other day. Keita stepped out to defend a player near the edge of the box who promptly played a wall pass. Keita turned and watched disinterestedly as his player ran past him and had a shot at goal. But the encouraging thing was that Tsimikas gave him a serve which bodes well for him at least.

{Ed0666's Note - I think you’ll find Keita will be sold at the earliest possible juncture unfortunately that may be next summer.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Jul 2021 04:14:13
Think we should loan him out to less physical league and let him build some market for him tho.

28 Jul 2021 04:33:00
The general consensus was that Keita was one of our better performers in the last friendly, but I guess you’ve decided focus on the one thing he did wrong rather than the many good things he did.

28 Jul 2021 05:19:23
It was about effort Thunderbird, there should be no excuse for not putting in the effort.

28 Jul 2021 06:24:12
He's completely right to focus on that thunderbird. Keitas attitude when he's not on the ball is a disgrace. Personally I wouldn't have him around the team and just get him out on loan or something. There is a good player there but our starting 11 can't have any passengers that only want to come for the ride when it suits them.

{Ed0666's Note - shame as he was a tremendous player at his previous club

28 Jul 2021 06:55:20
Pathtic though lads that someone goes to the bother of starting a thread to highlight when he was CLEARLY our best player, albeit in a friendly. I Totally understand peoples attitude to the player, but if he can't escape abuse after a GOOD game from supposedly grown men when can he?

28 Jul 2021 07:00:42
You could go though those friendly games and pick moments that appear to show each player not trying.

28 Jul 2021 07:37:58
Jadon “supposedly grown men”? I think you’re the child here. His game is being critiqued and someone noted a complete lack of effort in a moment. Sure he did some things right, but you assess the overall performance. Or in the words of Gini is this online bullying now? Take your rose tints off.

28 Jul 2021 07:44:37
A couple of fancy flicks means nothing if you don’t do the basics like winning possession back and tracking back. He’s done nothing for three years to suggest there’s a player worth persisting and that’s not going to change this year, he’s a complete waste of money and should be offloaded at the earliest, the problem with loaning him out means we’re in an Aquilani/ Markovic situation again where he’d end up going on pointless loans where no one actually buys him and then ends up leaving on a free.

28 Jul 2021 07:53:28
Surely if you were assessing his overall performance you would come to the conclusion that in that particular game he played well? Kind of contradicting yourself IPC12?

28 Jul 2021 08:44:40
My post was more to highlight that Tsimikas might have the right attitude. Im going to watch a lot more matches (particularly ones that aren't friendlies) before I start drawing conclusions about whether Keita has changed or not.

28 Jul 2021 09:20:33
Just judge them all the same lads, don't post what you think will be the popular opinion on here, he did well (probably rare i know) but let's give credit the odd time its deserved.

28 Jul 2021 09:35:30
I don't need to watch a friendly where Keita played well overall and criticize him on one thing he did wrong. That is just petty nitpicking. There is SO much material to work with over a huge sample size of games I have watched to know the guy really could not be arsed when he does not have the ball.

I have seen him literally duck out of 50/ 50 challenges, head challenges and walking when we lose the ball and under pressure on many occasions. The Madrid away game in the CL alone, is enuff material to work with. Keep in mind that I watched a ton of Naby at RBL in the last season before he came to us and he was absolutely lights out, as ED0666 said.

Well as ED01 has said several times, the guy's attitude has changed since he came to us and no longer tries, is out of shape hence, always injured and thinks he's Billy Big boots now cos he thinks he has made it and bragging about how much money he makes. Just saying what the Ed's have said. For me, I trust my eyes and what I see and Keita (tho, immensely talented) is a flop and his attitude on the pitch stinks and NEEDS to be sold ASAP either this summer or the next.

28 Jul 2021 10:18:15
he was appalling all game what he doesn't understand is that even mane firmino and salah do way more tracking back than he does and he plays midfield. id stick him in reserves or u21 or whatever until he grows up and actually starts trying. maybe at leipzig he never defended ortracked back? i have to say though based on the three years he's been at club and every time we get battered ie Aston villa and real madrid he's playing. he's THE WORST PLAYER i've EVER SEEN AT LFC. by some distance i've seen players who are terrible but they at least put some effort in the guy doesn't try in any game, is never fit, cost us about 100 million and hasn't SHOWN ANY ABILITY IN ANY GAME.

28 Jul 2021 10:24:37
People debating (arguing) about a pre-season friendly?
Lol, I’ve heard it all now.

28 Jul 2021 10:36:54
Player of the year so far. new season lads😉.

28 Jul 2021 11:06:17
Nathlfc, that's a bit much mate 😂 There is a definite argument that he's the worst signing in our history seeing as he is our 3rd most expensive signing ever. He hasn't got close to what he is capable of for sure, but the worst you've ever seen play for Liverpool? That's an over reaction mate.

I'm going to hazard a guess you are old enough to remember Bogdan, Clyne, Moreno, Allen, Assaidi, Borini, Balotelli and Aspas? Even among the current squad you have to say Keita has contributed more than Tsimikas and Minamino.

28 Jul 2021 11:07:34
Nath he’s by no means the worst by any stretch, Balotelli, Itandje, Nunez, Poulsen, Konchesky, Piechnik, Kvarme, but he’s certainly not worth giving any more chances to or persisting with.

28 Jul 2021 11:41:32
He needs to turn things round and hopefully he will get a pre-season under his belt and show us his full potential. Pre-season games shouldn’t be judged regardless of who the player is. What we don’t know is if they have just undertaken a double or triple session the day before or even that same day.

28 Jul 2021 12:10:10
I hope we buy someone soon, the negative vibes are really starting to build.

{Ed002's Note - Someone like Konate?}

28 Jul 2021 12:20:48
Struggling to think of a signing that was worse that we forked out serious money for, I can only think of Aquilani, but I think you could argue Kieta has been worse than him.

28 Jul 2021 12:32:18
mk scouser. i've seen al of them player im over 30 mate, the guys been on the inurued ebd for three seasons then when he plays he never tries for more than five minuites and everyone syas he's the second coming of jesus. allen clyne moreno balotelli and borini showed far more ability than he has ever done and they put in ten times more effort even balotelli ran aroudn more than keita has. The backing up of a man who cost the club around 100 million is astonishing, he can be solely blamed for the financial mess we are inEVERYONE says he was a tremendous pkayer for leipzig but i absoltuely guarnetee he wasnt the bundesliga has the worst defending i've ever seen atackers juts walk past defenders and no midfilder ever covers runs which is why he could walk around for 90% of the game and then try for five minuites like agaisnt brighton away two years ago. every time he plays recently we get battered ie aston villa and madrid and when he played for leipzig in the champions leageu they conceded tonnes of goals against BESIKTAS MONACO AND BLOODY PORTO. A.

28 Jul 2021 12:59:09
Andy Carroll Mike?

28 Jul 2021 13:16:15
No, I thought of Carroll but figured Keita has made even less of an impact than he did.

28 Jul 2021 13:30:04
The bottom line is Kieta has played for 3 years for Liverpool and the one thing Klopp insists of all Liverpool players is they give 100% everytime they pull on a shirt.
We have even seen him laying into Salah for not tracking back so why would he make an excuse for Kieta.
Just because Kieta decides to show us his skills against a very average team does not excuse his lack of overall effort.

28 Jul 2021 13:31:18
I agree it's a massive shame when he was coming I felt he was the missing link between midfield and attack that would be worth around 20 goals a season at least directly and indirectly but the guy is just nothing short of a prick who thinks he had reached the top with the big money contract and so on. The club would genuinely benefit from moving him on for free to get him off the books.

Hopefuly we can all be proved wrong and he has a stormer of a season but I really hope not because it will be a flash in the pan and he would then get another bumper contract and drain the club and fans for a further 4 or 5 years.

28 Jul 2021 13:33:06
"Keita's attitude when he's not on the ball is a disgrace2

So was Mezut Ozil, who had a fitting career at Madrid.

28 Jul 2021 14:30:32
Yeah Keita has been grand so far. I mean come on, the OP doesn't even know what team we were playing but can analyze a player? Which game are you even on about? Keita played against Stuttgart and Mainz. Against Mainz in particular he carried the ball, broke the lines and provided some penetration, which is his job. I agree Tsimikas did well, looking forward to the next one. (still not Salzburg)
