Hi Ed. thank you for always sharing phenomenal information and thoughts about liverpool fc. May i asked about what is the main reason from the lfc management team to expand the Anfield stadium? Knowing we're now on the C.V. situation and financial difficulties, it will be better to postpone the stadium expansion.

{Ed002's Note - The expansion to the ground was always in two phases - the first is complete the second is on the cards. It is unrelated to transfer spending.}

Infrastructure and other non squad expenses are deductible when it comes to FFP.

Thanks Ed, Drogie and Fuser mate. I know that the expansion has already started. I just want to know what is the main reason to expand the stadium during this kind of situation. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - If you are referring to the pandemic everyone expects and hopes it will be over by the time the changes have been made.}

Ed002 has spent the last 18 months or so explaining that the finances of FSG’s ownership model are strongly related to match day revenue and sponsorship.
There’s your answer, increase the capacity, increase the availability of ready cash at the club’s disposal.

{Ed002's Note - After the works have been paid for.}

I would think it is very good business from FSG as it will add value to the club without them spending there money for when they cash in. Ed001 do you know if they plan to carry on with ground expansions the Kop would be nice expansion.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, but if the waiting list is still there, they will want to fit people in if they can. Like you said, it makes good business sense to invest in things like that as it increases the long term value of the brand.}

Ed001 am sure there is still demand and looking at the ground the square footage of the Kop compared to the Anfield road end looks like we have the space nearly all ready there but might be a harder and more expensive upgrade. As for the Kenny Dalglish stand Ed do you think we would be able to buy the houses needed to complete that site expansion. With a lot of fans coming from outside the city it would bring in millions of £ every year what has got to be very good for the city. I was at one champions league game and 2 chinese lads had flown in just for the match and flew back the next day that sort of thing shows how committed fans from around the world are I don’t think I would do that must be a 10 hour flight.

{Ed001's Note - it is always possible to buy the houses, the area is about to be refurbed anyway, so it would probably be the time to upgrade.}

Anfield is only the 38th largest stadium in Europe at present. It would really be something if we could expand from 61k up to the early 80k's. Easier said than done, of course. But home stadium size is really the big stick that helps your brand and club. And with average ticket prices at Anfield being 30% to 40% lower than what they are for the London clubs, the club could use every advantage available to it.
