I can see that Ed. Would a player like David come to bed in for a season with the promise that Mane or Salah would be sold the season after. Therefore he would then be a starter.

If he steps up a level in terms of club and league he will have the same problem in regards to starting as most teams have big quality squads they rotate .

Exactly JK its a squad game now and players will get time look at the top teams they all have top players in the squad not just the 11 that start so this notion that LFC will only sign x y z to start isn't accurate.

Will utd play sancho, rashford, greenwood, cavani and martial all at once?

Will city play Jesus, sterling, grealish, mahrez, silva, grealish and Kane all at once?

Will psg play sarabia, di maria, icardi, mbappe, neymar, draxler all at once?

yeah theirs loads of players at city who don't play and are on the bench like berardo mahrez laporte walker. madrid has loads too. we need a squad not a first choice eleven and bugger all else. chelsea has players like kovacic, pulisi, ziyech and christensen who whwere all bench players all season long that's just three teams. WE NEED A SQUAD NOT A FIRST CHOICE ELEVEN all over top teams have them and players who would be playing for most other teams in the league but are happy sitting on the bench msot games.
