So that's Robertson locked up with a new contract until 2026.

So that's 7 players with renewed contracts (Alisson, VVD, Fabinho, TAA, Robertson are done while Henderson and Salah are pending) . If anyone told me that Klopp was definitely leaving in 2024, I would tell him to have their eyes checked. These are all Klopp's boys, this is his team. The club is taking quite a risk doing all this, if Klopp is indeed leaving as advertised.

Or perhaps Pep Lijnders succeeds Klopp in 2024. The owners will want Klopp to stay but it will solely be his decision and players extending contracts has no bearing on that.

25 Aug 2021 05:52:16
The average age of the team is going to be late 30s by 2025 / 26.

25 Aug 2021 07:02:53
Aray I’d love to see Klopp stay beyond 2024 mate and I still believe it’s a possibility, but I think signing our best players to new longer contracts is just smart business. Otherwise they could be leaving around the same time on frees if Klopp was to go if we weren’t extending their contracts.

25 Aug 2021 07:04:53
I think first tean players starting with mane will be first to be sold along with matip/ gomez next year. then we will see more players being replaced as years go on.

25 Aug 2021 07:07:13
WDW, well this is all hypothetical and speculation, actually. We all know that contracts are rarely completed (time-wise) and players move on before their expiration. We also know that the club is committed to developing youth players, so I imagine we'll see a mix and match of both. Pretty much the same as we have now.

25 Aug 2021 07:07:53
What has this got to do with Klopp's tenure? I am sure all these players would have had their contracts extended irrespective of what the plans were with Klopp.

25 Aug 2021 07:35:45
Plus, it is protecting the clubs assets. By signing them up to long term contracts, it secures a higher fee if they were to leave.

25 Aug 2021 07:56:54
ArAy1969, where is the risk here cos I don’t see it? We are securing our most prized assets, the very base on which this all conquering team was built so any manager coming in after Klopp leaves has a base to work with, at least at the beginning. Sounds like good business to me.

{Ed025's Note - "all conquering team"??? hahahaha..

25 Aug 2021 08:47:57
Bhav I highly doubt Gomez will be sold next year Matip could potentially be sold.

25 Aug 2021 10:03:06
What’s so funny ED025? Really? This team won the premiership, champions league and world club cup. Are they not all conquering because the caribo cup isn’t listed there? What are the three highest club tournaments/ titles available to European teams? League. Champions league and by being that world club cup. Which includes the current best from outside Europe. We won it all. Think it’s just usual bitter laughter from someone who’s team haven’t been in the running for any of those for over 35 years.

{Ed025's Note - you have won the league once in 30 odd years GT, so dont give me all that old pony mate..

25 Aug 2021 10:43:12
ArAy, my comment about the average was (a very poor) attempt at humour mate.

25 Aug 2021 10:41:41
We’ve actually won the league once in the past two years Ed025, and we will be a lot closer to making it two out of three this season than some of our local, lesser rivals who to the best of my knowledge have never actually won the Premier League 😉.

{Ed025's Note - but i never proclaimed we were "all conquering" WDW, you lot really do live in a fictional world mate..

25 Aug 2021 11:27:52
Oli, you know very well that all managers want to bring in their own players when they take on managing a new team. Each manager has a clear idea of how they want the game played and not all players fit all kinds of playing styles. Now imagine being in 2024, and Klopp is leaving, a new manager is waiting in the wings with a list of players he wants added, but the club can't make room by selling some of our "heroes" because they're at or around 30, and nobody wants to pay Edwards' asking prices. Sound familiar?

25 Aug 2021 12:10:39
Aray spot on mate. To counter that I’d say any manager who comes in (hypothetically) in 2 years time and doesn’t want Allison, Vvd, Trent, Robbo and Fab probably aren’t the right choice for this club.

{Ed025's Note - im thinking of throwing my hat into the ring JK..

25 Aug 2021 12:24:39
Wouldn't it be more of a risk to sign these guys to the end of Klopp's contract? that doesn't appeal to me like very smart transition planning if it ends up that Klopp does go.

25 Aug 2021 13:25:16
I don't think he was quoting on the last 30 years ED25 he was talking about winning a pile of stuff in a short time that most clubs can only dream of, yours included, winning it once in 30 years makes no difference to what he said or to the fact that your lot are nowhere near anything.
Its a genuine question bud but why does an Everton fan want to ED on an LFC page? Im genuinely interested.

{Ed025's Note - i like the craic rum lad, im from liverpool and think you have a good bunch on here so like to chew the fat now and again, i like LFC actually and think you have a very good team mate but i do like to play devils advocate on occasions just to keep your feet on the ground.. :)

25 Aug 2021 13:45:15
Ed0025 just don’t throw it to Pickford. He’d either drop it or two foot it 🤣.

{Ed025's Note - i like it JK, but jordan has really improved over the last 6 months or so, or should i say grown up mate..

25 Aug 2021 11:25:13
It's only fictional if it's done in your head Ed.
This current group of Liverpool players have walked that walk, they won the lot in a short period.
So "all conquering" is pretty apt. Meanwhile Everton can't even win at conkers.

{Ed025's Note - we are actually "all conkering " conker champions flash.. :)
