It's only a matter of time before we see a leg breaker with this new "let the game flow" approach. You can see that for each foul that is not given, the next one is that bit more dangerous. Revenge tackles will now be back in fashion and somebody is going to get badly hurt.

And this whole "it's our beautiful game" and "it's why PL is the most exciting league" is quite frankly embarassing.

As always, UK media will take a season to catch onto what Klopp actually meant by the leniency going too far rather than interpreting it as a whine.

{Ed025's Note - no one is saying we want bad challenges FPF but it is a contact sport and mistakes will be made, but dont try and make excuses for the bleating done by klopp last week mate, it was a selfish act by him to curry favour with the officials and was seeking to gain an advantage..

Agree1 Disagree0

Good decision to send off Xhaka on the weekend, I think the Refs are applying the new rules reasonable well and its good to see the game flowing more. You would hope that the play acting will reduce as a consequence of these new rules.

30 Aug 2021 12:29:02
Give it a rest. Football needs to flow. Its a contact sport and I like seeing the agressive side. If I want to watch non contact sport I'll watch netball. I much prefer the days of vinnie jones and roy keane flying into tackles rather than players falling down like feathers.

{Ed025's Note - im with you redhead..

30 Aug 2021 12:30:00
Ed025 - honestly, Klopp in post-match interviews is usually mouth first, head second. I'd be very surprised if he was thinking about gaining some kind of advantage in the future when he was actually simply saying players should be protected. It is possible for a manager to care for the welfare of players believe it or not. He made similar arguments about number of games too.

PS using your hands/ arms/ elbows to stop another player is still illegal, I believe.

{Ed025's Note - maybe the players should wear suits of armour FPF?, i see nothing wrong with the old shoulder charge or a clash of legs or have we become such a snowflake society that it should be banned?, jurgen knew exactly what he was doing in that interview mate...hes a very clever guy..

30 Aug 2021 12:46:38
Suit of armour doesn’t protect a broken neck from having your landing disrupted.

And what has holding shirts got to do with the beautiful game?

{Ed025's Note - a foul is a foul nobody is disputing that mate, but bodily contact is all part and parcel of the game..

30 Aug 2021 12:49:19
days of Vinny Jones and Roy Keane - thug era then.

As Klopp said, there are other sports to watch if that’s what you like.

{Ed025's Note - nobody is advocating thuggery FPF, but we dont want to see ballet with a ball either..

30 Aug 2021 12:50:52
Or maybe Klopp is just worried about player welfare overall cos he saw his top CB get decapitated in a game and nobody in the ref corp had the slightest idea what to do. Just a thought.

Also, Klopp has been complaining about the amount of games being played the moment he walked in the door in 2015 so not sure how clever he is whereas he has been complaining about the very same thing for near 6 years now.

The fact is that Klopp has always cared about player welfare. Same as Pep BUT when Pep talks about it, he is right and considered a caring guy. When Klopp says it then, he is moaning and trying to get an advantage. Yeah, the goalpost shifting is deafening. Just saying.

{Ed025's Note - decapitated? really, so you would rather see the jack grealish,s mo salah, and richarlison,s of this world rolling around like little fairies when anyone goes near them oli?, klopp is interested in klopp and his legacy thats it, puritanical clap trap to suit his agenda...you two must be related mate..

30 Aug 2021 13:05:04
“Rolling around like fairies” pretty much sums up the argument. “Man’s game”.

30 Aug 2021 13:18:00
All joking aside and I'm not looking for an argument but for anybody who can't see how dangerous the new rules are take a look at James Tarkowskis body assault on Ally last week which could of been incorporated as serious foul play, the fact he comes in side on is an attempt at taking Ally out the fact that he's an England international isn't lost on me but it's definitely not on physically attacking a goalkeeper when you know you don't stand at stand a chance of getting anywhere near the ball, as Jorgen said I'll be watching the wrestling soon.

30 Aug 2021 13:19:07
I don't think you can call players fairies anymore Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - then sprites, elves, or any other delicate creatures you wish to label them mate..

30 Aug 2021 13:23:28
He's definitely a clever guy! he's managing the red half of Merseyside mate!

{Ed025's Note - clever as in lex luthor, blofeld or general zod..an evil genius.. :)

30 Aug 2021 13:29:26
BTW ED025, I was only pulling your leg.

{Ed025's Note - im a very serious journalist if you dont mind polecat.. :)

30 Aug 2021 13:31:37
What game were you watching? If you're talking about the one where Tarkowski won the header and Allison and his momentum had them collide then there was absolutely no foul there. Absolute joke if you think that was anywhere near a foul.

30 Aug 2021 13:42:56
Did you watch Leeds vs Burnley? Wood and Barnes putting their foot in and wrestling players then falling over and pretending to be hurt themselves. What's 'hard' about that? Con artists. Mee and Tarkovski scything down people left right and center and basically playing rugby. And the pundits like Dublin and jenas saying they like to see it? It's mental. I hope they get relegated.

30 Aug 2021 13:46:42
Barnes tackle yesterday should be a red, that’s what we don’t want to see, reckless and dangerous for me. What I like about this season is actual tussles for the ball, where the stronger defender wins, not always being a foul. Attackers are normally quicker and more agile than defenders and defenders, so using their strength is their counter. Flying reckless tackles should and will still be punished, but falling over for no contact should be just ignored and play continues.

30 Aug 2021 13:49:29
I hope Klopp doesn’t start crying about injuries and fixture congestion again this year. We’ve had a summer to get numbers in and he’s been patronising in his press conferences asking for players who improve us. He’s said he’s happy with the squad we have.

30 Aug 2021 13:51:15
I think Klopp was referring to the constant holding and dragging back of players rather than hard tackling. Solskjaer alluded to the same thing days later.
They both have a point, some of the shirt tugging and blatant holding that "officials just don't see" is mind boggling.
They ignore that but bring out VAR to check if an armpit hair's shadow was offside.
Set pieces and corners are literally just wrestling matches now.

30 Aug 2021 14:40:16
I was watching an old match man utd v Wimbledon, binning Jones and Co against Roy Keane, Cantona etc. The tackling was ferocious bordering on assault, but the refs gave free kicks when needed, players got up and carried on, to top it off Cantona scored a worldy to do his talking. Great teams can mix the rough with the sublime, that's what makes them good teams, it is embarrassing how some fans act nowadays let alone the footballers.

30 Aug 2021 14:13:44
How do MMA fighters cope then? Souness broke someone's jaw on the pitch. Typical snowflake generation, the physicality and rough tackles or one of the most enjoyable aspects of football if done properly and no one intentionally tries to hurt someone.

30 Aug 2021 14:46:17
If referees gave fouls even when players were honest and tried to stay on their feet then you would have less jumping around but the fact is that pogba challenge will have players rolling around more because they know they won't get the foul if they don't. If neves went straight to ground that free kick would have been definitely given.

30 Aug 2021 14:39:47
Ed25, clearly you didn’t read my posts cos your response does NOT even address any of it. Typical from you, really. As for Klopp being ONLY interested in Klopp, you know very little about him based on that baseless comment.

If that was true then why did he advocate fight to make sure that Thomas Tuchel was his successor on his way out of Dortmund if he only cared about himself? Why did Mario Goetz cry in Klopp’s arms when he left Dortmund for Bayern? Why do the fans at Dortmund, Mainz and even LFC adore/ revere him first as a human being and then, as a manager if it was all about him? I would like you to answer these questions BUT I fear you won’t cos maybe, you can’t.

Klopp has been advocating for player welfare from day one and that is an indisputable fact and YES, VVD was decapitated and nobody wants to watch that type of stone age football anymore hence, rules have changed over decades since. You can let play flow while protecting at the same time, protect player safety as it is not an either/ or issue, a trick you clearly have missed. But hey, You can always go in YouTube and watch trainwrecks/ matches from the 50’s and 60’s if caveman football suits you. Cheers.

{Ed025's Note - you really are a piece of work you know oli, you are as aloof as your manager, the reason he moaned like a little bitch is because you were facing lukaku next game and he was trying to get in the referees head, but you cant see that because of your agenda, now i like klopp but he can be very savvy and alls fair in love and football so good luck to him...but dont you dare try belittle mine or others views with your bullying style of writing, now maybe your a little bit simple or got dropped as a baby i dont know but you must respect other posters (or editors) or the writing is on the wall for you my friend, now i dont take that as a threat..its a promise..

30 Aug 2021 15:37:22
Which cave did you drag Ed025 out of.

{Ed025's Note - thats all we need...another bloody snowflake..

30 Aug 2021 17:28:48
Christ lads it’s alright to disagree with a poster or Ed but let’s not get carried away eh.

{Ed025's Note - your right bledd..

30 Aug 2021 20:59:32
Evening boys, have I missed anything 😂.

30 Aug 2021 23:16:18
What’s wrong with Stoneage football?

30 Aug 2021 17:59:22
Gotta enjoy the back and forth Ed and appreciate not everyone supports our own team. It’s nice to have an opinion from someone with no allegiances to the club. Keep up the good work lad.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..
