Ok, big breath everyone, let’s have a crack at a thread about the upcoming match against Leeds.

Interested on people’s thought about our best line up for the game and how we should play it given the exciting match we had at their place at the start of the season last year.

I think Bielsa is barmy but is an inspired coach and am really looking forward to the game.

Id play the same team that started against chelsea with Jota in for Bobby and assuming Elliott is passed fit.

If i was tempted into any change it would be Tsimikas for Robbo purely for rest and rotation.

The 1-1 draw at their place was anything but exciting.

The team pics itself:
Back 5
Thiago Fab Hendo
Salah Jota Manè

Problem is, both Thiago and Hendo struggle on the left of a three.

Still got a couple of internationals to get thru first, 🤞for no more injuries.

Trent, Matip, Virgil, Robbo
Hendo, Fab, Thiago
Salah, Jota, Mane

Picks itself really if Elliott and Bobby are not 100%. If fit i'd have Elliott in for Thiago but on the left of the 3. Hendo played the worst game i've seen from him since about 2012, on the left. Doesn't suit him at all. Elliott is left footed so it makes more sense anyway.

The big question is whether Fabinho and Allison will be available. Becomes a far harder game if those two aren’t available.

MKS, agree with your lineup. Thiago was not called up for the internationals and IMO, he is still not fully fit hence, Klopp prolly could not put him on earlier vs Chelsea because of that. Now, he is prolly fit enuff to start vs Leeds BUT if Elliott is passed fit, will Klopp make that change? I don't know. Good prob. to have, tho.

As for Hendo, he should never play on the left anymore. It simply did not suit him and frankly, it doesn't. Now saying that is the worst game he has played since he arrived in 2012? That's a stretch, man. I have seen him play a way lot worse than that since then, lol.

This was one of the games that Thiago blew up in after 60 minutes.
He either starts and is withdrawn or comes on later, preferably if we’re two up or such like.
Leeds Utd will have a go, so you need to match their energy.
Clinical finishing is also required, as Man Utd showed on the opening day.
That was a very open game that could have gone either way until Man Utd got those two quick fire goals.

Oli, I think Hendo has been awesome since the 13/ 14 season and incredibly consistent to boot.

Against Chelsea he offered absolutely nothing in possession on that left side. His best offensive abilities are the early diagonal to switch the play, getting beyond Salah to put in a cross, or whipping in a first time cross from deep. On the left his crossing was completely taken out of his game and his attempts to switch the play were cut out easily (because he had to telegraph it by switching it back onto his right foot) . He was totally ineffectual from an offensive perspective.

It's not often Hendo doesn't play the full 90 unless he gets injured and the fact he got hooked after about 70 minutes said it all for me. He was offering nothing because Chelsea weren't a threat so his defensive capabilities weren't even required. I believe it was down to his role on the day and the way the game played out (so very circumstantial), but i cannot remember another game in the last 8 years where i would've said after that Henderson was just a body on the pitch. He's normally very influential.

I would like to believe Klopp will realise the role didn't suit him though. Hopefully we never see it again.

Think the team has been nailed , as to tactics hard but firm, balls to be deftly stroked with pressure applied the full length until the desired result then bask in the after glow of relief.
