Hi Eds,

Can someone please let me know if I'm missing something here.

About the recent Brazilian boys who didn't attend the internationals. The players from the UK were required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Brazil. They would need at least a week to train and play a couple of games. Then on return to the UK a further quarantine of 10 days from a red country. A total of at least 31 days for a couple of games.

I'm of the mindset that if we have internationals then we must respect them. You can't have clubs ruling over countries. However, in this exceptional case, it seems that it would be the reverse and that the countries would be putting an unfair disadvantage over the clubs.

Surely the ruling of Fifa is that the players can play for their clubs. Ed. 002, as I say, am I missing something here.

Intl football it’s a scourge i absolutely hate it! Don’t watch it either!

Of course clubs Can over rule there countries, the clubs pay there wages, I hope that the clubs still the 8 players, then we will see what happens, sooner international football is scrapped the better, let's hope fifpro look after the players.

Well it seems Brazil has asked for the full 5 day punishment. Richarlison has not been punished as Everton released him for the Olympics.

This whole situation makes no sense. 10 days quarantine on return or stop them from going and only lose 5 days. Clubs will continue to take the ban. This is not a good precedent to set.

Whether you are a hater of internationals or not is irrelevant, it's here and it's an issue that needs resolving.

Wages against the honour of playing for your country. Again, irrelevant as the world cup and Euros are not going to disappear. Players get an appearance fee, roughly around £2000. Does that count? Secondly, the majority of players actually dream of playing for their country. For the clubs it's a headache but let's find a way to deal with it instead of incessant whining about how we all hate internationals.

Apparently Brazilian nationals don't have to quarantine on arrival home. Not sure if this is 100% but it's what I've seen elsewhere.

What actually can be done to the clubs if they play the players?

08 Sep 2021 14:02:04
The lawyers of lfc should be on thsi you can’t ban one clubs Brazil players who didn’t show up but not another it has to be all or one surely? They can’t ban firmino Alison and Fabinho NONE OF WHO ARE FIRST CHOICE PLAYERS BUT NOT BAN RICHARLISON? That’s not legally right.

No Fabinho and no Alisson suddenly makes a hard game even tougher. Hoped Henderson will be ok to play number 6 and Kelleher gets in above Adrian or we’ll be lucky to get a draw. I can’t even begin to explain how much I loathe international football and FIFA.

Surely the fact they adhered to English health advice has to count for something? FIFA can't over rule government advice surely?

{Ed002's Note - Don't be ridiculous.}

Take the fine and play them. fook fifa.

08 Sep 2021 21:24:53
Sorry Ed002 it was a genuine question.

{Ed002's Note - You need to be able to tell the difference between, rules, guidance and advice.}

I’ve always wondered why they don’t just have multiple international games in a break period for the leagues. do it all in one go and not interrupt the season anyway.
