Hi Eds, what's with the "five day restriction" demanded by Brazil FA? Is there a way out of it? Reported that Fabi, Alli and Bobby won't be available for selection due to the FIFA ruling. Would love to hear you explanation. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Because the clubs who failed to release players there is a FIFA rule that allows them to be stopped for playing for five days after the end of the transfer window - meaning they players will miss one or in some cases two games.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And there's no way around it ed? It's not like the clubs didn't have a good reason.

08 Sep 2021 15:16:45
but why is richarlison allowed to play then?

{Ed025's Note - because he represented his country in the copa america and the olympic games

So:

Option A - Liverpool release players. Due to C.V. restrictions on their return they miss matches.

Option B - Liverpool don’t release players to red list countries and national FA ask for players to be stopped from playing for a defined period. So the players miss games anyway.

Either way - the club who pays their wages is screwed.

Good to know.

Ed2 surely you can't have favoritism and let Richarlison play, and no one else, the clubs have a great case, I think fifa will be made to look fools.

{Ed002's Note - Everton helped out the Brazilian FA by not objecting to him playing in the Olympics.}

08 Sep 2021 15:45:01
Will FIFA not see the sense in the decision and allow an exception? Releasing players to a red listed country would have been a dumb thing to do, not just from a footballing perspective.

08 Sep 2021 15:55:44
Can't blame Brazil for triggering the ban, but it's a farce that FIFA didn't extend the dispensation before the most recent international window. it's hardly surprising clubs wouldn't release players when they wouldn't have faced quarantine requirements in Brazil, and then another 10 day quarantine on the way back as well.

08 Sep 2021 16:01:36
Agree cotsi. If it’s a high risk country you shouldn’t be entering in and out to play football.

08 Sep 2021 16:32:33
Its nice to see that after everything the whole world has been through the last 18mths - and the current alarming situation in Brazil - there's still power people out there deciding to be ruthless and unforgiving.

08 Sep 2021 16:32:44
Ed2 i really don't see that one holding up, it will get overturned.

08 Sep 2021 16:38:30
I mean surely you could claim that players were held back for their own safety?
If players were bullied into getting released and then got seriously ill whilst away sure the national FAs would be at fault?

Seems a ridiculous rule regardless but especially with how the world is now.

08 Sep 2021 16:57:08
Let's face ed25 its not like he does Everton any favours by rejecting him from playing for Brazil.

{Ed025's Note - hes an olympic winner though MR, and you dont get many of them in a bag mate..

08 Sep 2021 18:44:12
Olympic football though should not include players already capped for the national team in my opinion. Its like Anthony Joshua saying ill have another go for gold now.

08 Sep 2021 18:44:58
At least he’ll have something in his trophy cabinet.

The issue is that Fifa think they are bigger than the governments. They demand concessions like paying no tax for their delegates, lifting alcohol bans in stadiums to please their sponsors, immunity against crimes their staff may commit and now to risk the health and lives of thousands of people to play international games in high risk countries.
Brazil are in a tough situation and so are the clubs. If we let the players travel to Brazil they'd be away for at least 28 days (14 days quarantine both ways) but Brazil risk missing out on major competitions.

Brazil didn't call Richarlison up so no need to punish Everton.

So good you said it twice ToonRed :)

09 Sep 2021 03:52:52
SGRed - Yes, you damn well can blame the Brazilian FA for triggering the ban. What they have done is completely unjustified.

09 Sep 2021 04:31:24
Oh for the days when footy was about kicking a ball about on Saturday arvo.

08 Sep 2021 17:21:22
Ed25 I love the bitters way to fame, this time last year you lot had dvds out and everything, please don't tell me you are the cringey people club.

{Ed025's Note - we are actually the epitome of how a club should be MR, not only the "peoples club" but everyone else,s favourite second team for the way we conduct ourselves with dignity and grace, (liverpool are 91st), its not only our brilliant EITC scheme which is the envy of not only the country but the world, but the humility and professionalism with which we operate....so if indeed you do possess a pipe mate please stick this in it and smoke it.. :)

09 Sep 2021 07:48:21
Where are you getting "peoples club" from? It's like me saying I'm the king of England, doesn't make it true because I say it and as for everyone's second favourite club ha ha that cheered me up no end, deluded blue noses need to get a grip mate.

{Ed025's Note - its the truth jim, we are of the people..by the people.. and for the people mate, thats a well known FACT!, a respect giant in world football who have been having a little nap for a while, but the cream always rises to the top..

09 Sep 2021 10:56:39
LoweLFC all the other countries triggered the ban so don’t believe Brazil could have done otherwise, or else it would put them at a disadvantage vs their international competution if clubs start to treat as a soft touch (and god help them if they were to lose out on qualification! )

This is all due to FIFA failing to renew the exemption (or else having a plan in place with countries to waive the quarantines)
