Sadio Mane needs to get back to basics and realize football is a TEAM game.

I can fully understand he was not happy with his goals tally last season and has set himself a goals target this season, however personal goals should not come before the TEAMS goals.

He was extremely wasteful in front of goal and he was awful in terms of passing to a team mate.

He needs to stop being jealous of Mo salah for a start and he should have also given Jota a tap in.

If Bobby Firmino was playing yesterday both Salah and Jota would have had a field day, Firmino is one of the most unselfish players we have.

I was pleased that Mane finally got his goal but on the whole his performance was not good, against better sides who will not give up as many chances such sloppiness will be punished.

Lastly of course i wish Young Harvey all the best in his recovery.

i also hope this is the start of a Fabinho/ Thiago partnership, both players were superb and when paired together our Midfield looks so much stronger.

Delighted with the victory and another game where VVD and Matip looked calm and composed and also injury free!

Konate and Gomez will have to be patient because i would not break up this centre back partnership unless i had to, although they will probably both play against Norwich in the league cup.

A solid start to the season, plenty to still improve on but i am confident we will be up there challenging when it gets to squeaky bum time.

Bring on AC Milan!

It’s amazing to see how Mane has little to no credit in the bank with us LFC fans despite the amount of goals and assists he’s had over the last few seasons helping us win the CL, League and World club cup.
Last season you would swear he was the worst player in world football despite scoring 16 and assisting 9 goals. Yes he wasn’t his usual world class self last season but he more then played his part in us finishing 3rd.
For me Mane isn’t the same player that he was 2-3 seasons ago but then he was arguably the best left winger in the world so it’s not like he’s gone from being half decent to Sunday league.
He could have scored 6 goals yesterday but his finishing let him down. For me I’d prefer to see that over the fact he didn’t get any chances in a game. These chances in the box don’t happen by luck. He’s working his socks off and reading the game to be in those positions in the first place.

I’ve seen lots of fans say we should sell Mane and replace him. But who is out there that we could afford that produces the same numbers that he does not just in the premier league but in the CL. Perhaps we should have gone with Sancho as he’s really hit the ground running for a relatively cheap 90 mill.

Mane could of just gave up and stopped trying, fair play to him he went right to the last minute, would of struggled to do that last season, credit to him and let's hope it boost him to get back to the player we know he is.

She should of scored at least 3 yesterday he was woeful!
Hope he gets back to his best we all know soon!

To be fair some of the positions he got into and missed you wouldn't have passed anyway. They were bad misses, agreed but I don't think he was overly greedy as such, just needs to work on his finishing 🙈.

I think we need to calm down, it will come no doubt for Sadio.

He could easily of sulked but he kept at it.

Who else in the legue would you rather have? Sancho, Werner, Pepe, Moura.

I know who I would choose.

I don’t understand the “he could have given up “ defence. Like he could have stopped shooting?

In fairness he got his goal eventually but taking our red tinted glasses off he hasn’t been the same player for a while. Look at him a few seasons ago running at and terrifying defenders, cutting inside and hitting screamers. It looks to me like his confidence has gone slightly and he might be over thinking things rather than just playing instinctively.

His confidence could of gone, he could of given up trying to shoot or even running due to no belief that anything good would of come, many players go into a shell when games like yesterday happened, he deserves credit at least for battling on.

Out of interest, how many games is it since we lost a PL game?

There are a lot of people over thinking stuff to prove that they have an opinion.

As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Yes, the man had a comparatively "slow" season last year. He scored "only" 15 goals (Chelsea who finished one place behind us had a defensive midfielder as their highest scorer with 7 goals) . But, when will it be time to let go of that (where it belongs; in the past), and focus more on how hard he's trying now to set things right again?

13 Sep 2021 14:57:58
Aye, I'd be more worried if he wasn't getting in those positions to be wasteful tbh. Said in the live chat I think last seasons form is on his mind and he's overthinking things atm. When he was on form his game was so instinctive, just needs to try and recapture that.

Sancho for me.

Mane is a beast. Just getting his mojo back. Bit greedy but nothing so serious. Just needs those shooting boots.

Spot on, JK23. Mane has also scored 3 in his kat 3 for club and country. The guy is still dangerous, never stops running, asks for the ball every time and is a hard worker BUT clearly none of that matters anymore.

Yes, he is struggling for confidence BUT with the way some of our fans have left him out to dry is typical of the modern day supporter, IMO. Sad.
