The debate bout salah or suarez got me thinking where people would put torres in this. for me it's salah tops by a long way then suarez. i prefered torres but can't deny suarezs record and he had more to his all round game than torres but salah is miles ahead of both for me.

{Ed0666's Note - Owen reckons Suarez is better than Salah because Suarez scored headed goals and that super season Suarez had he’s never seen anything like it. Can someone tell that melt Owen that Salah has had 5 super seasons…how this man is a LFC ambassador is beyond me.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair they’re two different types of players, Suarez could win a game on his own a bit like Gerrard. Salad on the other hand is just as immense but in another way.
For overall skill for me Suarez tops it but you have to appreciate how good salad is and both of them are a step ahead of Torres.

{Ed0666's Note - Salah has never won a game on his own?? 😂😂😂

Wow I didn hear that but I'm not surprised by him. i wouldn pay any attention to Owen. he talks utter sh#te. i still don't understand how anybody would pay him to spout his crap. he should of taken over from John McCririck as he probably has more knowledge of horses.

Just to put out a question.
I loved both players and Salah is the best for me…

How would they of faired if Mo had played in the Rodgers team. And Suarez in the current team?
I reckon Suarez would of been fantastic in the current team, not necessarily in Salahs position.

29 Sep 2021 20:58:06
And ripping off young footballers in high stakes card games.

29 Sep 2021 21:09:45
Purely on ability: Salah - Suarez - Torres. Fowler is better than them all though.

Owen is down at the bottom behind N'Gog and Voronin.

29 Sep 2021 22:24:27
Ignoring all Suarez faults, if he was in this team instead of say Bobby, we would be winning most games 5-0. One thing that you cannot dispute is, if given a chance, Suarez will finish and LFC create 30 chances a game.

29 Sep 2021 22:32:57

I know Owen is a knob but don't be stupid.
Owen was fantastic for us.

29 Sep 2021 23:01:08
From i've been watching liverpool for me neither make it into an all time 11 on current formation or any other. Salah makes the bench so i guess salah.

Rush beats both on a bad day.

Suarez is a better CF
Salah is a better LF.

Just my opinion. Humanity not considered.

29 Sep 2021 23:18:02
I saw Owen spouting that live and I couldn't believe my ears. A biased fool like Rio Ferdinand can get that question right, but not our club ambassador.

29 Sep 2021 23:27:55
humanity aside.
Suarez would score 20+ goals and 20+ assists a season in this team. I can't think of many more perfectly suited players to Klopp's style that Suarez.

29 Sep 2021 20:47:12
Ed0666 Salah record is just out of this world but is playing in a great team with an outstanding manager. Suarez nearly made that a great team if truth be told with some very average players and had to to that with Rodgers as a manager. If Klopp had Suarez up front in is peak in this team we would win everything. As he did everything Firminho did but would get 30 league goals to go with it.

{Ed0666's Note - Salah has done it for 5 years straight in a great Liverpool team granted but that is fact. It’s conjecture wether Suarez would have had done it for 5. For me facts trump conjecture.

30 Sep 2021 02:01:02
People who tell Suarez had better time at Barcelona forget he had better team there too. and salah is definitely better than Suarez. football stars habe lot of influence off the pitch. he's using it for the good of d World. definitely it's salah if u speak only about ability too. Suarez might have scored from halfway but u forget salah did too. against city no less. both time gks were way of the lines so it ain't that big of the deal I feel.

30 Sep 2021 03:17:13
Ian Rush is better suited to Klopp’s style than any other striker we have had. Instinctive finisher, lightning quick and could draw defenders out of position all over the place and was, by a considerable distance, the best pressing striker we have had when defending. God was a better finisher, and Bobby is probably the best at holding and playing other players in but all around to fit JK’s ideas Rushdie would have got a game.

30 Sep 2021 08:34:22
i thought Torres was an amazing striker and Suarez was decent but who on here would have liked to have seen Gerrard supplying Salah ass he did with the other 2. Salah is streets ahead and should be mentioned in the same way as Mbappe. not quite at the level of Messi and Ronaldo in their pomp but not far off.

30 Sep 2021 09:19:08
In fairness to Owen, the debate on BT wasn’t a direct comparison of the two. He was asked which player is better, Suarez peak (last season) with us or salahs best with us?

That question does make it a debate for me. Suarez, albeit a knob, was special and in a far worse team with a worse manager.

But because of all the baggage and missing games, I lean towards salah. Purely as a player that version of Suarez was probably the best striker of the 2010s

Torres was also great I’d probably have him 3rd of the 3.

Whilst we're never going to feel the same about Suarez as we do about Dalglish, Gerrard and other greats, I think you could make an argument that, purely in footballing terms, Suarez is right up there in the discussion as one of the best players we've ever had. When Ronaldo and Messi were in their prime years I think Suarez was the only other player in the world who was anywhere near their level. He was a brilliant footballer.

I remember watching Torres when he was on form for us and thinking he was possibly the best finisher/ centre-forward I'd seen (I include Rush and Fowler in that) . Ultimately I think he was too often injured and not with us long enough to make a real impact in terms of being a club great, but when on form and before his recurring injury problems he was sensational. I still think Benitez would have won the league (I think in 07/ 08) if Torres hadn't missed so many matches that season.

Salah's stats for us trump both Suarez and Torres, but that's about how long he's been with us as much as how good he is. A brilliant player no doubt and again he'd be up there with our best but, for me, despite being one of the best in the world for the last few years, I wouldn't put him at quite the same level as Suarez for pure football ability and brilliance, or the same level as Torres as an out-and-out striker/ finisher.

As ever, it's very difficult to compare different players in different teams at different times. Of the three we're discussing, Salah is without question in the best all round team, with top quality players all around him. Torres and Suarez didn't have so much of that around them when they played for us. On the other hand, Salah didn't have prime Gerrard alongside him, which Torres did.

Imagine if they'd all come along at the same time. Front three of Suarez, Torres and Salah in their prime, with Gerrard (and as we're in fantasy land, Alonso) behind them.

30 Sep 2021 10:36:34
um salah wasn't close to halfway when he scored vs City. this a classic case of emotion bending reality lol

I had a look at the stats and it's very close between Mo and Suarez in terms of their PL performances. although note that Salah has scored 14 pens to Suarez 0. other than that there is nothing between them in terms of goals per game, but suarez has a better conversion rate. Suarez bests him in about every other category around the pitch including defensively. make of it what you will.

{Ed001's Note - I make of it that it proves stats are utter bollox, because Suarez never once was the last man on a corner and chased back 60 yards to break up an attack. If his defensive stats are better, it just shows why teams like Brentford gave up on buying players purely on their stats, because they are such a poor way to judge a player.}

30 Sep 2021 10:51:56
In fairness we are in a very lucky position. We are debating over the fact of who was better when we should actually be thankful we’ve witnessed, Dalglish, Rush, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez, Salah etc in their primes for us. There’s other fans out there who have followed their clubs for 10-50 years and haven’t been lucky enough to have 1 striker as good as any of them in those times.

30 Sep 2021 11:05:36
ED001 - that's a great point you've made about Salah. The number of time's he busts a gut to run back to retrieve possession or cover a break. And I mean runs back all of the way and doesn't stop until he's got the ball, or held up the break so that the defence and midfield get back. You see plenty of strikers make a token 15 yard chase back and then stop, but Salah's determination to get the ball back in those situations is amazing, and completely at odds with the theory that he is a selfish player who just wants to score goals for himself.

{Ed001's Note - people just seem to ignore things like that, because it doesn't suit their view of him I suppose.}

30 Sep 2021 11:50:12
Look the two of them are absolutely brilliant players. But only on this site would Suarez be considered anything but a legend. A pr$%k definitely but as a footballer, was absolutely top top class.

30 Sep 2021 11:54:38
What I don't get is if people want to say Suarez in his final season against Salah then compare it to Salah's first season. He was the best player in the world during that 12 months and in a good but not great great. remember there wasn't fabinho, alision, vvd (half a season) . Also Robo had just came from Hull and TAA was in his first season.

30 Sep 2021 12:14:27
And in fairness to Owen he was asked about 2013/ 14.This Liverpool side have at least 6 players that would be thought of as maybe the best in their position in the league of which Salah is 1 and that number wouldve been 7 when we won the league in 2019.For me Manè's form sees him excluded but in 2014 there was only 1 player who was the best in his position and that was Suarez, he was on a different stratosphere to any other striker that year. infact any other player fullstop.

30 Sep 2021 14:23:24
Be all and end all. No matter what, Torres and Suarez have absolutely nothing on Salah and I mean nothing. There's not even a debate about it in my opinion, he is miles ahead of them.

30 Sep 2021 14:57:07
Better, not miles better!

30 Sep 2021 09:07:25
Ed0666, I have no idea either esp. with Owen speaking rubbish. Salah has literally been doing a "Suarez's exceptional season" EVERY season since he has been here. Salah's first season alone, dwarfed Suarez's best season already yet Suarez is better with only ONE exceptional season? This is the stuff we are being afflicted with by these "experts" on a weekly basis.

Also maybe Suarez would have had the types of seasons Salah has had if he didn't spend majority of the time being suspended for racial abuse and going on a biting spree in a bid to force a move out of the club YET fans take him over a near bonafide PL and LFC Legend in Salah, something Suarez will never be. Baffling logic, IMO. This should not be anywhere near a debate, IMO. Salah all day long over Suarez.

{Ed0666's Note - I can’t disagree with anything you say mate. Even our own fans under appreciate what we have. He regularly delivers Ronaldo/Messi-esque seasons yet Suarez is revered because he did it once. My head hurts when I listen to the crap some of our so called legends spew

30 Sep 2021 19:53:18
Although Salah has done it consistently, and Torres was pure pace, power and class, there is no doubt who was the best player, and that is Suarez. In his early Liverpool career, Suarez was playing with players like Mignolet, Skertel, Flanagan, Jose Enrique, Joe Allan, Charlie Adam, Downing and Shelvey. Salah has had world class players all around him since he came. Suarez had Gerrard, still great but not as close to his peak as when he played with Torres. Only when Sturridge and Coutinho arrived and a young Sterling emerged did Suarez have anyone decent alongside him. In the season in question, Suarez was unbelievable and almost single-handedly took us to the title. Suarez was unquestionably the 3rd best player in the world behind Messi and Ronaldo. I don’t think Liverpool have ever had a player ranked so highly, not even Dalglish. I have no doubt that with Suarez at his peak, playing in today’s team, we would have as many League titles as City in recent years.

Yes, Suarez was an arse at times, but that never bothered anyone when he was playing for us, and shouldn’t be a factor now just because he left. So, in my opinion, it’s Suarez all day long. And Michael Owen is entitled to his opinion and was correct in what he said. But again, those with short memories of what Owen did at Liverpool, take every opportunity to slag him because he took a professional decision to join Man Utd when no other Premier League team wanted him, including us.

30 Sep 2021 22:27:50
oops, meant to say that Salah had a better conversion rate.

30 Sep 2021 23:03:34
the stats say there really isn't a massive difference between the two. both are elite for sure.
the rest of it comes down to your personal bias.

Bit hypothetical, but I would take Prime Suarez over Salah for the Klopp era.
