Ed’s reds has anyone any info regarding how much money we can offer Salah to stay?
He’s our best player his stats don’t lie and it would be criminal to let him leave on a free etc!

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Agree4 Disagree0

Don't think Money is a issue here, think it depends how much Klopp wants him and thinks if it's sensible to give him a jack pot of a contract at he's age especially when will need to replace him in couple of yrs or better to sale him now and build the team with the money he's going to bring? Coz it's only abt time when it comes to Salah. In Both circumstances will have to replace him now or in 3 yrs time depends on what the board and Klopp (who will have a major say like in Hendo contract) think it's the best way going forward for us tho.

02 Oct 2021 11:17:51
Look were going to have to break our wage structure to keep Salah, but break it we must. People on here being amateur accountants will say "it will ruin the club"but do people actually realise what we would be without Salah? When Mane nd Bobby have been shadows of themselves the last 18 months its Salah that has kept us up there. Without Salah's goals last year with all the injuries we would not be in the Champions League this season. How much would a run to the semi final/ final this season be worth to the club? £90/ 110m? That man should be offered a good enough contract that he is happy to spend the next 4 or 5 years here.

02 Oct 2021 11:47:25
Your arguments is basically we wouldn’t be were we are today without him so we possibly ruin our future by paying him whatever he wants?

02 Oct 2021 11:58:12
Jadon, spot on, absolutely agree with every word you say there. The man is world class, looks after himself impeccably and is the absolute definition of professional. Get the contract done, pay him what’s needed. I can’t think of one player in our price range who is even remotely capable of replacing him.

02 Oct 2021 12:08:36
The difference in prize money between the group stages and the final is not 100m 😂.

02 Oct 2021 12:10:44
4/ 5 years ago, our best player was coutinho, he left, and our players all stepped up a gear and now we have lots of good players. Salah is not irreplaceable, and whoever Klopp chooses to replace him, I'm behind the decision. Personally, I'd love Chiesa to replace him and I wouldn't be gutted if he did.

02 Oct 2021 12:16:20
Hows it ruining your future? Look that pay structure is going to be broken eventually. Ruining our short term future would be not getting this man tied down. He will hit 30-40 goals this season FROM THE WING! He is a phenomenon, a special player who's looked after himself enough that's he still has years at the top. I would argue Salah has never looked better for us not even in his first year. I really hope some headway is being made behind the scenes because no other top club would even entertain not having their best player, in his prime at the club. I find it amazing when fans spend more time worrying bout finances than the team on the field, bigger wages are part of the game and they will continue to grow along with clubs revenues. And i say this a fan fully aware of where we were under H&G.

02 Oct 2021 12:29:46
"Ruining our future"is a bit hyperbole and never said whatever he wants. I said a good enough contract that he is happy, both sides will compromise.

02 Oct 2021 13:01:08
Why are we pandering for a player who has been trying to leave in a nice way for years lol I'd be ok if Salah left on a free. If its a choice between selling him early for an unproevn player or keeping him in his prime and rebuilding another way by selling others then I'd be totally ok with. In fact I hope we do keep him and force Salah to perform all the way.

02 Oct 2021 13:37:34
Keep him till he retires then.

02 Oct 2021 13:43:57
A lot of fans here have their own opinion when it comes to Salah's contract.

think it's better to leave on Klopp and Club coz whatever decision they take it's going to be in Clubs favour.

We should just continue focussing on our games and the season. We have a big game tomorrow #YNWA #Redordead.

02 Oct 2021 13:47:46
Its a happy medium or a fine line. As some have said, not investing in players (wages) could impact on CL aspirations and how much that would cost the club. Clearly you don't want to be held to ransom but you have to factor in how much it would cost to replace the likes of Salah and his consistent goals over the years.

02 Oct 2021 14:05:15
The Coutinho comparison is false because he had longer on his contract and had a higher saleable value given his age, Salah is older and will have one year left on his contract after this season, if Salah doesn’t sign up and we decide to sell we’d be lucky to get a quarter of what we sold Coutinho for, as he can simply sit his contract out and leave for nothing, and those saying he’s easily replaceable, I offer you this challenge, find one player in our price range who his actually capable of 20+ goals in the league every season. Good luck with that.

02 Oct 2021 14:14:00
100% what victor said! £50m would be the absolute maximum.

02 Oct 2021 14:20:07
VVV mate isn't that Klopp's job? What if Klopp is happy to sale Salah and start rebuilding before he's own contract is up?

Coz like it or not Salah will need to be replaced now or Later that doesn't change the situation it just paper the cracks for now.

I'm sure Klopp will have a major say whatever decision is taken just like in Hendo's Case which Klopp took it by himself.

02 Oct 2021 14:33:29
There are 11 footballers on the planet who are the best in their position. Salah is 1 of them, im sure Klopp wants Salah with him till the day he finishes up at our club.

02 Oct 2021 15:47:30
@Jaydon, what’s the difference in “a contract good enough that keeps him happy” and giving him what he wants?

Nobody is irreplaceable.

It is a business and FSG expect a return on their investment. If they can make money from a saleable asset then that’s their call.

Can I clearly state, so that people aren’t confused, I would love to see Salah stay here for the next 5 or 6 years. He is one of the best half dozen attackers (for want of a better description) in the world, seems to look after himself physically and, being assaulted by Spanish centre backs aside, is generally fit and ready to go. We are obviously a better team with him.

Sometimes though, things don’t work out the way we want and if he decides to go or we decide to sell then it is with a heartfelt thank you and best wishes for his future from me. But if that is the case, Liverpool will survive and an opportunity opens for (younger) players to step up.

02 Oct 2021 16:01:35
"Whatever he wants". the difference could be a lot of money, that's why i said there would more than likely be compromise from both sides! Neither side are going to accept what the other wants or offers straight off the bat. And both sides know that.

02 Oct 2021 17:05:36
Jadon it seems you didn't see Klopp's interview when he extended he's contract or neither saw the difference between he's response to Hendo's contract and Salah.

02 Oct 2021 17:27:18
“Nobody is irreplaceable” is not exactly true, tell that to Barcelona since they lost Messi, or consider the fact that took us until we signed Salah to replace Suarez, it would seem that losing a star player who scores the bulk of a teams goals is a huge hit to take, in our case if you specifically remove Salah from the squad, that’s a lot of goals to make up which aren’t there at the moment because the majority we score are from our front players with very little contribution from the rest of the starting line up. Truth is that if we lose Salah on a free or have to sell for a low ball offer because we mess up the negotiations, it will be a potentially disastrous situation as we won’t be able to afford to adequately replace him with a player of similar ability and output and there’s not one player in European football who stands out as a potential replacement who we can afford, letting Salah go is as good as waving goodbye to Champions League football.

02 Oct 2021 17:30:32
😂🤣😂. It's comical reading about how a business should be run on these pages sometimes.

FSG have a business model, a business plan and a whole bunch of other plans that they will follow regardless of what any fan or outsider thinks. If Salah fits in those (financial) plans (which I hope he does) then he'll be with us and if he doesn't then, he won't. And if someone went up to FSG and mentioned the words "we're ruined if you don't break the wage structure at the club, for Salah" then I'll bet you anything they'd reply with "run along now, go play with your own money, not ours".

02 Oct 2021 18:10:13
Of course they would ArAy, THEY OWN THE CLUB! And there wouldn't be a thing anyone could do. that's not what the conversation is about though and wouldn't mean they are right. let's not start making out a loada businessmen who probably still struggle with the offside rule are football geniuses all of a sudden.

02 Oct 2021 19:05:03
ArAy don't get carried away with the idea that all aspects of a business models are flawless. One of the key concepts developed over recent years has bee "just in time ordering" and look where that's got us recently in terms of shortage of a number of commodities. Perhaps a measure of more conservative "just in case ordering" might have been more prudent. So perhaps hanging on to what we have for a bit longer might be wise.

02 Oct 2021 19:23:29
They fell on their feet when they appointed Klopp and have been riding the wave since!

02 Oct 2021 19:27:27
Red planet ArAY is spot on, if the board and Klopp thinks it's right to give Salah 450-500k at this stage of he's career in wages and set the new benchmark for our players and potential signings then why not.

02 Oct 2021 19:28:54
madrid paid well over 100m for hazard and he had one year left.

02 Oct 2021 19:31:15
I might be wrong but the longer this goes on the stronger the position the player is in over the club. If there was a happy medium then surely the contract would have been signed by now.
Personally I’d love Salah to stay and he 100% deserves to be our highest paid player. I’m not FSG’s biggest fan but I also see their point of view as there is a huge difference between 300k a week and 500k.

Best case Salah signs a huge new contract and keeps going and producing until his mid 30’s.
Worst case is he leaves on a free giving us no money to replace him or he signs a huge new contract and age catches up with him in 2-3 years and then we have stuck with a player who is on huge wages and maybe not even in our strongest 11.

My personal view is give him what he wants as he’s a world class player and I couldn’t imagine this great team without him. But it’s not my money so of course that’s an easy option for me to choose.

02 Oct 2021 19:43:24
I'm sure Redflyer mate everything will be looked in details before making any decisions on Salah's contract.

Don't forget he's agent has been pushing for PSG for sometime now, the club might be waiting to see if PSG comes with an offer? Who knows

Let's just enjoy the season and see how things pans out with he's contract.

02 Oct 2021 19:45:55
Hazard was 28,Salah would be 30.And if i remember correct Hazard was 88m+add ons! Pretty sure he hasn't hit many of them😁.

02 Oct 2021 20:40:11
I think we should offer him about Tree Fiddy.

03 Oct 2021 05:22:17
Jadon, I'm impressed, you saw my point immediately. Let the "amateur accountants" and "businessmen" run their business. You go ahead and ponder over the offside rule. No need to step on each other's toes. Equilibrium is perfect.

03 Oct 2021 05:38:16
Redplanet, every business model needs tinkering and every successful business plan is changed, along the way, before its over. My point was that it's the owner of the business who sets the agenda for what he's serving you on the field in the stadium, or on your TV, laptop screen and mobile phone. People get carried away in their exuberance.

By the way. Just in time ordering was created by the Japanese in the 1970's. I'm happy you finally got introduced to it. Salah, Mané and VVD are good examples of this inventory strategy. Keita, Ox and Henderson are not. You win some you lose some.

03 Oct 2021 11:49:50
Perhaps you could give Jadon a pat on the head as you explain Kanban.
