Not sure if this has been asked before but lads what made you support Liverpool, I'll go first, I was taken to my first game, the 1974 fa cup final, when I was 8 years old as at that time we was living in Essex, think it was Bill Shankly's last game but I'd have to check that, anyway Liverpool won 3-0,Keegan got 2 Heighway 1,if Newcastle had of won, I'd have supported them I'm guessing.

Hearing Shankly in the run up to that 1974 final was what did it for me, just before my 10th birthday.
My old man hated football, but he loved listening to Shankly. As we came from a poor Scottish village (like Shanks) he immediately got what Shankly was talking about in his interviews. There was only ever going to be one club for me after that.
And my old man still wouldn't watch the final on TV with me!

Sounds lame. But. I had no one with any interest in football in my family but I loved playing it at school. The first game I was allowed to watch I was 9 and it was the FA cup final 1986. I fell in love. And I used all my pocket money at the time to complete the panini sticker album of Liverpool.

Dad worked in Liverpool in the early 80's and would come home every 2 weeks. To pass a Saturday afternoon when he was over there he'd either go to Anfield or Goodison (he wouldn't have much interest in football either way) . Anyway long story short he brought me home the Liverpool shirt for my birthday and that's where it started. It was 82/ 83 season and I was 7.

I'm a Liverpool fan from Brighton but luckily my grandad ( a liverpudlian) met my Nan in the army and settled in Hove after the war.
Every male in the family from his side is a red :)
Miss him dearly.

I'm from Wallasey on Merseyside, as is my old man. He was a Red - went a lot in the 60s and early 70s, so it's only right I followed him as a Red. Mentioned it before, my first match was the 7 nil hammering of Spurs when they had newly crowned World Champions, Ossie Ardilles and Ricky Villa in their team. They had no answer to us that day.

Liverpool vs Newcastle 4-3 April 3rd 1996, being sat infront of the TV age 6 mesmerised what got me interested in football, one of the only few memory’s I can remember from being young.

Kloppers, my first memory of football was this game, i listened to it on the radio, bang in the sticks in the west of Ireland with my mum, i was also 6 years old and have loved the reds since.

My dad and Uncle were Evertonians and the first match my Uncle took me to was Everton v Bolton. It was assumed I’d be an Evertonian, but I had a cousin who lived in Pulford Street near the ground in Anfield and I used to go there quite a lot. Every home game we would mind the cars in the street. The terms of our contract with the car owners were pay up front, so we used to get into the ground at three quarter time when they opened the gates to let people out. We couldn’t always see much, but once you’ve experienced the Kop, you’re hooked. Been a red ever since.

I remember watching an FA Cup in Aus with colleymore and folwer l think they lost. It was my dad he was born in liverpool moved to Australia and of all places moves to Liverpool New South Wales. i've Been to the MCG and got to watch them play against Melbourne Victory best atmosphere ever. Saw the ledgends game in Sydney. All the old players l grew up watching on tv. I could swing to everton my dad had one cousin play for them one quite famous from scotland. Story goes his aunty got pregnant in the war had a baby boy who was adopted to a Scottish family. It could be an old wides tale but My dad swears by it his name Duncan Fergerson. And a second cousin Ian Anderton.

Mine was watching World Cup 98 with my dad. He doesn’t like football but gets very patriotic when internationals are on. I just remembered Owen scoring that wonder goal against Argentina and my dad saying he plays for a team called Liverpool. After that tournament I loved football and started collecting the stickers and of course Liverpool and Owen were my reference points. So they stuck with me. I can’t say I have such high regard for Owen anymore though!

My dad was a linesman in the old div1 and living in Essex he had 200 mile radius, so did all the London clubs so me and my grandad went to all the games. My actual first game seeing Liverpool was against Ipswich when Kenny Dalglish scored his 100th goal in a 1-1 draw. Being with the officials you could go on the pitch and dressing rooms before the games and I went into the Liverpool dressing room when the team had just arrived. Kenny Dalglish, Graham Souness and Phil Neal all high fived me! Loved ever since!

First team I saw on tv and fell in love with them. Being from Manchester with my family full of united fans and my dad constantly trying to turn me, I never once thought about supporting united. I knew then this was the team for me. It’s strange but there was a connection straight away. I remember playing for an under 8s team and my dad bought me united shin pads. I used cardboard instead lol.
