We are begining to see the greatest of Thiago Alcantara. the last time we had someone to dictate from the deep was a spanish and let's hope thiago emulates the great Xabi.

OP, one would say that but for me, I don’t even think he is fully fit yet cuz he had no preseason as he arrived late after the Euros with a knock, was coming back and then injured his calf (due to a lack of preseason) and is just now back playing again.

Hence if he is this good now while not being 100% pfitness wise, just think of what he can do when fully fit with Fab and Hendo around him.

Oh wait, we already know what that’s like. See last 10 games last season when he ran that midfield. Let’s hope he can stay fit and keep improving cos well, his talent, ability and overall class is not even a debate nor has it ever been, IMO.

just like Ox, he is an injury away from being back at square one. great player, awesome. need his greatest ability to be availability right now.

A run of games is exactly what he needs. Can he become as important as Fabs, Allison, VVD, Salah, Hendo etc I am not sure, let’s hope he can. Can he do it against Chelsea and Man City? Time will tell.

If we are to stand a chance we need all our players fit and in form and we need players like Ox and Naby to keep stepping up and perform.

He produced some beautiful football yesterday ❤️.

Irish I agree, getting games out of the likes of Matip, OX, Nabby etc keeps other players fresher. When Milner as an example has to play 5 games on the bounce you just know he will get injured.

He's great and all but he caused 2-3 goal scoring chances for the Saints yesterday with wayward passes.

Thanks for the response posters.
John. did you also not see how he takes an entire section of saints players with one pass. Southampton was in no man's land whether to press him or drop back to stop the pass.
That goal when he switches his foot from right to left is what you call a genuine skillset.
I completely agree to emulating Alonso is like climbing Everest and beyond. But he makes football look so easy and effortless.

Of course I saw him do that, and it was fantastic to watch but we can't ignore those mistakes and a batter team would have punished us for them. All, that being said, I wouldn't have him out of our team.

He is pure class but definitely get anxious when he's deepest midfielder and the press is on. he's been caught a couple of times. However, his vision is another level. ED01 described best the other day. he chooses the right ball more often than not - short, long, doesn't matter. the pass to mane for offside goal was superb.

He has a way of passing and controlling the ball, maybe most similar to Zidane, its like he has hands as feet. great player, one of those you pay to see!

to be fair to John's point, have we seen anyone give the ball away as easily as Thiago has in the middle of the park? bit like Bobby when he is in casual mode. just needs to sharpen up a touch at times!
