With all the stick that origi gets he still manages to pull something like that out the bag.

He must be one of the few players we've had where the majority of his goals are match winners!

I'll be gutted when he goes purely for the moments he's given us all, but think he'll be on Newcastle list in January.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was surprised to see that this was his 100th app as a substitute. Dude played more than half of his matches at LFC from the bench, yet he has done so much for the club. I love the guy.

He should be playing and deserves to be playing regularly I get he loves the club and fans etc!
If he’s happy to be bit part fair enough!

{Ed0666's Note - maybe he will see out his contract and go on a free? Maybe he doesn't want to move because he’s got a nice work/life balance. Clearly his teammates love him and his manager loves him. He’s not too bothered about playing every week and he’s getting circa £70k a week for his troubles. I wouldn’t move if I was him.

To be fair Ed, you wouldn’t shift me with a cannon for £70k a week.

{Ed0666's Note - No I’d get Eds 001 dressed in red lace lingerie and stiletto heels licking his lips to do it. That’s what we did to get rid of Adam Lalana

as a person, we will struggle to find anyone else compatible with our team than Divock. As a player he does enough as an impact player to warrant a spot on the team.

I think we should really think long and hard about selling Divock. We never hear any issues about his attitude, he never looks out of shape, the lads seem to love him and this year he looks like he's taken a step up in maturity which no doubt is helping him make more of an impact with his limited minute. Who else in world football can we bring in that does all that?

I give up with Origi to be honest, and by that I mean give up criticizing him. I was one of the biggest advocates of moving him on to free up funds both this summer and last, yet I’m glad he didn’t go. There is no point in moaning about him anymore, he will continue to do what he does and once or twice a season it will be something incredible. Whichever club he goes to next will have themselves a player with most of the attributes to be top class and, above all, an icy, icy finisher.
Nobody does it quite like Divock.

I have long been criticised on here for being an advocate of not only Divock staying, but actually being part of the starting 11. I think now is the time for it to be honest more than ever before. Bobby is out, Salah and Jota are in great form but as much as I love him Mane’s early good form is dropped off and he looks the player of last year again, lacking confidence and end product drying up. I would be starting Jota on the left and Divock as number 9. He at the very least deserves a chance to prove he can replace Mane long term with the forward line aging and Divock entering his prime years. Who knows it might even spark Mane back into form as Kostas has done with Robbo!

It's a hard one with him though, he is never going to be a starter with who he is competing with. His stock was at his highest after his CL heroics and then went on a huge lull. But definitely still holds a value so do you sell him to raise funds or keep him for the odd origi moment?

05 Dec 2021 08:55:55
WYred we complain about squad depth so much I don’t think we should even consider selling him, someone of his ability willing to be a bit part player, loves the club and is loved by the players and fans? Nah I’d keep him, although I do take your point about raising funds. Personally I think he should be starting instead of Mane at the moment as Sadio’s form is dropping off again. Maybe Klopp is saving him for the AFCON.

Origi looked very good yesterday, not just his goal. Against West Ham it was a lovely finish as well. He does deserve some game time. At least 30 minutes a match as Mane isn’t doing it. But Origi looks better as a sub.

05 Dec 2021 09:38:36
I think the issue is Klopp doesn’t seem to trust him to give him long enough off the bench to make an impact.

Prior to Jota coming in fans said another forward wouldn’t get minutes so why sign one, but Jota has smashed that theory out of the park.

Prime example yesterday Klopp gambled early and gave Origi a longer run out and he got the goal but would he have scored that if he had been subbed on in the 89th minute.

Even when we are a few goals up and coasting we never see Salah or Mane come off with the game won and 20 odd minutes to go so that shows that both players don’t take being brought off that well. And both may get rested say 1 every 15 league games. So that leaves 1 forward position (In the league or CL big games) for Bobby and Jota to rotate around and Origi and Mino in the shadows. So it’s not hard to see why minutes are hard to come by.

WYred - The thing is, we only see these moments, which to be fair are few and far between. But I think Divock brings so much more than these goals to the club and the dressing room. Have we ever heard a peep from him about playing time? Maybe once or twice, if that? And whenever that was I don't recall that being an issue. Great team mate by all accounts. I think he is golden in the squad and that he can still put a goal away makes him more of a valuable player for us.
