Our goal difference is so much better than our rivals' and I find it really refreshing. Long may it continue. No one can tell if that might be the difference in the end. This season could be decided by the tiniest of margins.

I think it may come down to goal difference, too, it seems very competitive this year. I also think a lot will depend on what Origi and Minamino (and the returning Firmino and Elliott) can do during the Afcon absences.

It’s a great stat but There’s a lot of football still to be played before it goes down to goal difference. This time last season we were riding high and then we fell off the wagon big time.

Just out of curiosity has the Premier league title ever been decided on goal difference?

I thought City pipped Utd on goal difference.

JK23, I think the "Agueroooooooo" season was decided on goal difference.

It would be foolish to concentrate on the end of the season. Just keep winning football matches. That was 2 massive victories on the road this week, we’re going to need anfield to help beat stevies Villa who will be well up for it, and a struggling Newcastle who will set up to frustrate.

Spot on, Koparmy. Was just about to reply. Don't think any other season did.

{Ed001's Note - it may not have been 'Premier League' but footie wasn't invented in 1992 so the fact we lost it to Arsenal on goal difference is just as relevant as any Premier League season.}

05 Dec 2021 14:31:48
Ed001 I remembered the Arsenal one hence why that was the only reason I asked about premier league era. No doubts it’s happened numerous times in the years since football was invented.

The koparmy cheers mate. For as big as that moment was I didn’t realise it won City the title on goal difference.

Sides also won it on goal "average" in previous seasons as well, on a few occasions.

05 Dec 2021 14:57:19
It’s all well and good winning games 3 and 4 nil but we need to concentrate on turning those draws into wins. Two extra points is far more important than goal difference. Sorry for stating the obvious.

05 Dec 2021 14:24:18
Ed01, you are spot on. I was there and the West Ham game, before it, which meant Arsenal had to win by 2 clear goals. Apologies for my ignorance.

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate. Just something we should never forget or allow to happen again!}

It was a Friday night game and that was the worst feeling I’ve ever had waking up on the Saturday morning as a Liverpool supporter.

{Ed0666's Note - are you sure it was a Friday night Acer? I thought it was a midweek game as I had to go to school the next day and get the piss taken out of me from every teacher and my school mates. As you can imagine in London I was one of the very few Liverpool fans at my school and I got the puss taken out of me by everyone teachers and pupils alike, especially the PE teacher who was a proper prick. Anyway I completely empathize with you about the feeling of dread waking up the next morning it was awful and echoing what you said was the worst feeling ever. I’ll never forget McMahon saying ‘one more minute’ and then Thomas scores and then I turn off the tv and the rest is just history and pathos.

I went through the same 666. London too! I remember everyone pretending to be Thomas in the playground. and everyone becoming gooners!

{Ed0666's Note - and then we went and bought the cu*t 😂

I just had to check it out, it was a Friday night. As upset as those of us who were all old enough at the time, it was nothing compared to the upset we felt a few weeks before.
