I wrote the below match review after seeing Ed001 mention how busy he was and how he'd be happy if someone could write some in his absence. I cannot do every game but, if I'm able to watch the full game (weekend games are fine, weekday games not so much) I'll try and write something up.

Wolves vs Liverpool - A Liverpool (but not Ed001) Perspective

Great read! Thank you.

Very well written Seano.

Can't help but agree with everything said. I agree with all the point.

Thiago really has been impressive since coming into the side, yesterday he was absolutely exceptional. His ability to break the press and completely control a game, despite playing some very difficult balls, is incredibly impressive. My only criticism is that he should have scored. His defensive side of the game has also improved massively, he always seems to be in the right place at the right time and wins the ball back in some really dangerous areas.

It was his main criticism when he first joined (became a running joke that he would just give away fouls constantly) .

I feel he will he hugely important for us this season. Long may it continue!

Cheers, Seano. That was a good read, mate.

{Ed001's Note - agreed I enjoyed reading that.}

Awesome review.

You make a good deputy in this regard for Ed001.

05 Dec 2021 17:52:09
Yep, I enjoyed that too, good job.
I thought Traore might have played himself to a possible Liverpool transfer.
He was the fulcrum of Wolves’ only real out ball and it often took 3 or more reds defenders to shut him down.
Just imagine if he does that but has Mane and Salah up near him?
He was cited by Klopp in his post match comments too.
We’ll see.

Great review, thanks. I would have given Origi more credit his touch, passing and running the channels were very effective. MOTM Origi for me. Thiago was very good as well.

Great review seano really enjoyed reading that mate. I knocked the wrong emoji mate sorry.

Top class Seano.

Mark that’s almost a compliment you’ve given Thiago. You ok mate 🤣.

Yes, yes, well written Seano; got the main points of the game right. I nominate you to do it for the weekends, if you can.

I was just very surprised by Benitez's approach to the game; sitting 10 men behind the ball and the other negative tactics. Maybe his footballing philosophy has changed since he left us and coached so many other teams. His comment after the game that we are one of the teams that "have spent so much money" (as if his team has not) raised my eyebrows. Someone should show him the statistic (which was up here some time ago) that we have spent the least (net amount) in the EPL, over the last 3 years. Do managers become more conservative as they age? Mourinho's case certainly indicates that; but Bielsa's case tells you the opposite.

Credit where it’s due Thiago has been very good in the matches after his injury. He was just tired in one of the matches and kept getting caught which was understandable. He is an intelligent man and He has obviously worked on his game to fit into a more PL style. Great to see him winning the ball back yesterday.

The review stated players were sometimes just passing it square 5 yards to him for no reason. Fabs did that a few times. There is also still improvement to come from Thiago.

Aray I think age is catching up with you. This is the wolves game 🤣🤣.

Good read! If I may, I don’t think Henderson had a particularly bad game (though I might agree with him being a bit tired) . From what I saw, or concluded, was that (possibly) as an effect of Trent-Salah being a bit stifled, Matip became the ball carrier and Henderson slotted in the central defender role, or RCD next to Matip in some cases like earlier seasons when he had the DM role.

So, I’d say it’s more about tactics and asking players to not be one-dimensional, rather than bad form, as he probably was not as high up the pitch as in the previous games.

Disclaimer. This is guessing and anecdotal (gathered from a few moments where I noticed this), rather than facts.

Its great to see our 3 midfielders playing so well together, so far they have a 100 percent record when starting. Thus can only bring confidence to the rest of the team. Good read Seano well done.

JK23. Man o man 😶. This is what happens when you have insomnia and your only source of refuge at 4:00am in the morning is "liverpool rumours". Embarrassing. And 61 is not old JK. 😣.

{Ed025's Note - well its quite old..

05 Dec 2021 23:00:18
Thanks for the review!

No worries happy to write a match up as and when I can. I don’t have time to take notes or rewatch games so there may be things i miss or forget - feel free to correct and add to things missed it will help both me and other readers. Thanks for the kind words.

{Ed001's Note - that is brill mate, I had already done the one for this game or I wouldn't have bothered as yours is better!}

06 Dec 2021 06:13:28
Job well done Seano and every one connected to this site, kinda of stuff that will always set this platform apart from the rest. Good time to be red.

06 Dec 2021 12:03:24
Ed025, compared to you I'm a spring chicken 😋. I'd challenge you on a 100 meter sprint, but I've been raised to be gentle with the elderly. 😉😂.

{Ed025's Note - if it wasn,t for my knee i would take you on ArAy, but im a crumbling wreck now mate so maybe a cribbage match would be more apt.. :)

Brilliantly done, Seano. You captured the game perfectly and the analysis of each layer and the oppo. and the game was top notch.

As for Origi, I slightly disagree cos I think he did a lot more than you think. He was a handful for their defenders as he bullied them and they could not get the ball off him. He had good inter-play with his fellow forwards as well and drew defenders out of position by dragging them wide to provide space for Salah and Robbo especially to run into.

Now as to whether he could be a regular starter, I think that ship sailed a long time ago and he is simply happy with his role and Klopp and the players love him. If he wants to stay and the club wants to keep him, I won't be mad about that and frankly, I'm over it.

Oh and one last thing: Mark must have bumped his head and got himself concussed. His praise of Thiago must have been given under the influence of some serious sedation, lol.
