It has been interesting reading people's opinions on the match yesterday, not just on this site but on other sites too.

I think it is agreed that Ox, Konate, Keita and Jota played well. However, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Taki Minamino. I thought he was brilliant yesterday, and yet, no has even mentioned the guy.

I have been one of Taki's biggest detractors, I honestly saw nothing when he joined and thought it was a mistake. But, in the last few appearances, Taki has actually shown that he could be a worthwhile option.

The man has bundles of energy, knows when to release the ball, provides assists and goals when needed. Honestly, I think Taki deserves more opportunities, hell, I think he is beginning to earn it.

Am I the only one that thought Taki had a good game yesterday? Or, has a future at the club? Because, from what I can tell, no one even talks about the guy.

{Ed0666's Note - this fella is criminally under used and this needs to change.

Barring the goal which was incredibly difficult and he took it very well. Nothing else really stuck for Taki and he’s had much better games for Liverpool, probably because he doesn’t suit wide forward. I agree with Ed, he has to play more. Such a talented player.

He was up there with the best players to play the full game I thought, looks really intelligent with the ball. Shame he missed the pen, 3 inches lower and it goes in off the bar, but thought he played really well.

You two intellectual people beat me to it. Taki needs and deserves more game time.

I like him but IMO he had an average game but did the business at the end with the goal (I’ll turn a blind eye to the pen as we got through) .

He was sloppy in position, control often wanting but he did try hard (my minimum requirement of being a Liverpool player) .

But he’s rusty so the above is understandable and hopefully he can play a key role in this busy period.

Fan of Taki here too gents. Felt a bit sorry for him lately because the effort has always been there but nice to see him getting a few more opportunities. Would like to see him used more in that Firmino false 9 role but with Jota banging them in at the moment will have to wait a bit longer.

What's people thoughts on Kelleher? I really like him as a young GK, but I thought his positioning for all three goals was off yesterday.

More or less every game mino has gamed he has done well and made some sort of impact which couldn’t be said about keita who has started more than mino. Go figure!

I didn’t see the game, but have seen the highlights. Those saying that he didn’t play well but scored seem to be forgetting his assist too for Jota’s goal. I like taki, I think he is a bit lightweight, but can link play well and has an eye for goal and does deserve a bit more game time. It is hard for him though when you look at the quality of the four ahead of him!

Ed0666 where would you play minamino? I've been bit disappointed by him since he signed, I thought he wouldve been great player for us going off the 2 champ leagues he played for red bull against us.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d play him through the middle with mane on one side and Salah on the other. I feel he’s more effective in that position than Jota.

LiverpoolFC8, I fully agree. I am a diehard Mino fan BUT in the first half, not a lot stuck to him as well. I thought he worked hard and his movement was good but I think he struggles due to the players around him not being up to scratch. Same goes for Bobbie.

Now when Jota and Naby came on with Neco back at RB, the play was more fluid and with Bobbie and Naby pulling the strings in midfield, his movement was even better and they were able to find him a lot better. On the whole, he was very good BUT could have done a lot better had he had the players he had around him in the second half, in the first half, IMO.

Only seen the 2nd half and pens. Was a really impressive player at red bull and I was really excited when we signed him. Unfortunately for me he hasn't impressed, good goal last night so I'll pass judgement on him when he plays regularly. Unfortunately doubt he'll get the chance. As for keita. enough said already. Kellher in goal was great for me, really impressing with every game.

I don’t think Taki would contribute as much as Jota due to Jota’s headed goals.

23 Dec 2021 20:31:16
You’re not seriously comparing Taki favourably to Jota, give your head a wobble.

23 Dec 2021 20:36:36
You’d have a great option if you could take Taku’s footballing intelligence and Diogo’s instinct in front of goal. The result would be a really good back-up for Hodin his heydays.

I think there have been more than a fair amount of people who have been saying that Taki needs more game time. Probably because we all see under-utilized potential. But he's doing very well in the Carabao. Three straight games with a goal. He won't score as many as Jota, but he presses more, is far more energetic and can cover more of the field. It's been ages since I last read someone say he is too "lightweight" for the EPL, as used to be the case.

Whoops - auto correct 🙁

Taku is Taki and Hodin 🙁🙁🙁 was meant to be ‘God in’

It sucks getting old 😁😁😁.

{Ed0666's Note - Tell me about it I remember when I used to look down at the floor when I was naked now I see a belly in the way.
