Dissapointing result last night Ed001. We've been scoring for fun recently but had a shocker : (
The young lad for Leicester deserves praise for keeping Salah fairly quiet and the makeshift defence rodents luck at times but I expected us to put them under much greater pressure.
A long way to go still so nothings won or lost yet just feels like a wasted opportunity.

{Ed001's Note - it was just one match it happens at this time of year.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Felt like we were in a pre season match last night with our intensity as we never got out of first gear.
It’s only our 2nd defeat of the season so it shows how well the lads have actually done but at the moment we are 2nd best to a great City side and Squad.

I’ve seen fans comment that City are due a slip up but I think we need to just concentrate on ourselves as we currently have 1 point from the last 6 and could be waving Salah, Mane and Naby off on Sunday 12 points behind. And it was at the exact same time last season our wheels came off.

A reaction is what is needed on Sunday against Chelsea and a win there could put us back on the front foot. What hurts the most is last nights team was more or less full strength (except Ox) and it looked like we didn’t want it as much with regards to battling and winning that 2nd ball.

I’m pretty sure Klopp would have read the riot act so 3 points on Sunday will be a great way to get us back on track.

I hope the AFCON gives Mane the opportunity to regain some form and if he bags a few goals may come back bigger and better than ever.

City rarely slip up once they get on a run, they’ve shown that time and again, relying on snookers is no way to win a title. Anything less than a win against Chelsea just puts it further and further out of out reach as the next few games afterwards we’ll be without Salah and Mane.

Hand on heart I don’t think the Quality in the squad is deep enough to win the Premier League. I mean we went 1-0 down last night and immediately brought 78 year old James Milner on. I don’t think he’s scored in 2/ 3 years.

That’s why we’ve got to Go all out for the Carabao Cup. Opportunities to win trophies don’t come along too often when Man City are around. Get that winning feeling back, we need the HENDO SHUFFLE back in our lives.
Win that, crack on and you never know they could have a blip.

City have Arsenal away, Chelsea home and Soton away in January - if they win all those its game over and if we don't win all of our 3 league games in January it's game over. They don't get weaker over the last half of a season, they get stronger.

29 Dec 2021 13:49:56
Part of the debate in Summer about not spending was an accusation of seeing things through the prism of Man City, which I understand but, at the same time, your strength can only be measured relative to your rivals?

29 Dec 2021 13:57:59
No bones about it - we were poor. You can afford to be this poor from time to time but it’s becoming more frequent now - which unfortunately won’t yield the 90+ point haul we need to win the league.

City can put two 10+ winning runs together in a season. We can’t match that currently.

I’m sure we’ll keep going but nobody has laid a glove on City for months now and we’ve got AFCON/ our January form to come next.

JK and the lads speak so much sense on this thread. Bravo, gents! For me, we are firmly in the outside looking in right now and that is now our reality. We didn’t show any oounce of urgency all game long and even tho, we did not play well enuff to win overall, we still SHOUKD have won with the chances we created plus the pen.

Leicester were hanging on for dear life and had we scored first then, the get absolutely washed, IMO. That didn’t happen and we paid the price our inefficiency in both boxes deserve. It’s football. It is what it is.

Fir right now, enuff of the title talk. Let’s focus on ourselves and take it one game at a time and take it from there, as JK has said. We have dug ourselves a pretty deep hole here so it us now time to stop digging and starting climbing out if it it by bit, starting with a 6 pointer vs Chelsea.

Lol from what I've read on the internet since the game, what gets me is people talking like our title race is over lol, come on we're half way through, we throwing the towel in already? We had an off game, every team has them. It is what it is.

Can we win the league? Who knows, time will tell but I have my doubts purely because of too many missed opportunities so far. This doesn't mean we aren't capable because we are, I just have my doubts that's all. I'm more confident about the champions League.

29 Dec 2021 14:38:00
Apparently half of the city squad gets dog abuse and mocking on this page of being not good enough lol. People make me laugh. Taki, Origi and Milner against Mahrez, Foden and Grealish. That’s what we are talking here.

29 Dec 2021 14:52:43
A lot of good points made on this thread. Yes, we can still win the league. Only issue is Man City can put together their stupidly long winning streaks of 10-15 games on the bounce and pull away. But as OliRed said let’s get back to winning matches and taking it one game at a time.

That being said I definitely think we should go all out for the Carabao Cup. Lads, a trophy is a trophy and we are so close to the finals so I expect a full strength team in both legs.

29 Dec 2021 15:17:55
Spot on, Alonso1786. We got to do our best to win it now esp since we are in the semis. It keeps that winning feeling and mentality well fed, IMO.

Is Keitas shinpad harry?

I knew at least one certain character would be in slating players after a loss.
Stay classy KS.

All through Liverpool's glorious history it's always ever been about the next game. So let's concentrate on that lad's and see what happens YNWA.

29 Dec 2021 18:51:30
Well said Barry. Spot on.

29 Dec 2021 19:48:31
Last night's loss wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't for City's ability to go on long unbeaten runs.
I think the way our team performs is taken for granted a lot of the time, this is possibly the best Liverpool side I've ever seen and I've been a fan since 1974.
So yeah, we lost last night where we could/ should have done better. But I'm grateful for what I've seen since Klopp took over, it was like living in the Dark Ages before that.
But this title race isn't over yet. Not by a long chalk.

Ed1. What would your front 3 be for chelsea match?

{Ed001's Note - go back to tried and trusted, Bobby between Mane and Salah.}
