Morning all unfortunately it would appear that this window will come and go without us strengthening where needed due to lack of funds driven by C.V. and overall high team wages. I thought that finally when we won the league and champions league we would strengthen the team and squad year in year out, but Jota and Konate aside this hasn't been the case.
I thought that klopp would try to do something similar to what old whiskey nose did by adding quality to the team/ squad every time it was possible to do so thus preventing things becoming stagnate and having an ageing team/ squad. Unfortunately it was very apparent for all of us to see that this is the case with our beloved team last night ageing players great servants to the club but past it by now or the other side of the coin players who contribute sweet f##k all are on ridiculous wages and quite frankly are not good enough to be in the squad let alone the team.
Unfortunately for us there doesn't seem to be any possibly of this changing soon and it worries me that like most die hard pool fans 30yrs wait for league success just can't happen again but could well do so as we are getting left behind in the financial stakes by Citee, Chelski, Utd and soon or later Newcastle can be added to that list.
I'm not saying that it will be another 30yrs before we win a league again but once you get up to the top table you want to stay there and be competitive and this will only happen by having the best players which I may add we have quite a few and our starting 1st 11 is as good as any but is getting on, anyways I'm just worried as all us Liverpool fans as to where we are going as it seems we are slowly falling away from where Klopp has worked so hard to get us. Maybe it's time for new owners new investment and don't get me wrong I think FSG have been fantastic for us and helped shaped us into a real force once again while redeveloping our historic stadium into something that will have even more capacity and more atmosphere (if that's possible) as anyone who has had the privilege to have graced this wonderful stadium well knows. But I just don't want to see us fall and am worried that I might not get to see us win another league in my lifetime which saddens me big time. Anyways fellow reds happy Friday enjoy your weekend and let's hope for better things to come in the future 🤞
Cheers

100% mate. They’re all going to need replacing at the same time also. We’ve seen this before, history is repeating itself for us. Except this time we don’t have 2 decades of domination behind us.
Some of the fans on here don’t go to the game. They can’t see where we are truly at, that’s until Cara and Nev tell them.

14 Jan 2022 08:38:19
We’ve had 1 win in 90 mins in our last 6 games and that was a scratch side against league 1 Shrewsbury.

Is there anything to worry about as we hit very similar form around the same time last season?

The glass half empty fans will probably be panicking and possibly over reacting and the half full will be claiming it’s all fine.

Around 13 months ago the half empty were panicking about the squad depth (especially at Centre half) and the half full were claiming the title was already in the bag and Pep had been found out. The half full love using the word hindsight but never use it when it goes against their arguments (they also love using do you know what YNWA means and support another club, but that’s an argument for another day)

For me last night was very worrying. But there’s always arguments for and against.

Some will say we didn’t win whilst others will say we didn’t lose.
We didn’t score but we didn’t concede.
We didn’t get a shot on target but we almost did.
We were very sloppy in possession but we had 77% possession so we dominated.
We have no money but FSG saved us from extinction
The list could go on and on.

It’s onto Sunday now and a win could see us move into 2nd or close the gap or even both as City and Chelsea play each other Sat. A loss or draw though could realistically end our title hopes in Jan.

It’s all about how this side react to the next game. But again we said similar last season every week for about 3 months.

A good team looks to improve all the time, even if it’s a fans favourite and there’s a better option out there.

Think everyone can see what we badly needed/ need but aren't vocal coz they know we don't have money to spend so it's better to ignore and spin it with some positivity.

JK23

The whole world knew we would lose two superstars for AFCON. And if Klopp and FSG thinks Taki and Origi would step up in their absence then why do you think they would replace them in the summer?

14 Jan 2022 08:56:04
Great post.
I think level head Liverpool fans recognise that healthy investment is needed to freshen things up and prompt greater competition in the squad. That’s Guardiola’s mindset and it was Fergie’s too. If FSG cannot do that, then they should move the club on. The notion of new contracts, investing in the stadium, the training facilities… shouldn’t the owner of a club do that as a given. Of course they should. They have reached their end point and when Klopp leaves we will scrambling between fourth and seventh again.

For me, Im always an optimist by nature BUT I don't go on and on about the owners needing to sell cos frankly, that ain't going to happen so I don't dwell on such things that I cannot control. I mainly focus on what I or we can control which is performances on the pitch and what has killed us on the pitch this season is this over-expansive way we have played this season which opens other teams up BUT also leaves us vulnerable at the back cos the lack of control is no longer there. That has cost us 10 points this season (and we are behind City by 11 so connect the dots) . A bit more control 3 of those games after taking a 2 goal lead, and we are solid.

This is where Klopp is partially responsible cos it's his job to make sure this doesn't happen and he has failed here. Bad/ Poor decision making in-game has cost us this season. For me, it has very little to do with squad depth BUT rather a lack of control when in the lead and seeing games out. Saying we need to refresh the squad is like saying water is wet. The real question is that do we have the financial muscle to do so smartly as we have been doing before CV happened and crippled the finances? That is where the issue lies, IMO.

Or kopforever they're not vocal about it because they know crying about it on the Internet isn't going to make a blind bit of difference.

TT many on here, were thrilled about how Taki and Origi were playing and producing in the PL and EFL games and many thought we would be okay esp. after the Leicester game. Origi HAS stepped up when need this season BUT he is injured now so what can one do? Also remember that if Taki takes that chance (pretty tough with the awkward bounce), none of us are saying what you're saying now. Reactionary, much?

Based on the team last night, Klopp messed up his midfield selection by playing the same midfield duo of Hendo and Milner who were poor vs Chelsea, IMO. He should have played Ox ahead of Milner cos he provides pace and power to break the lines and of course, motivated to play against the club that gave up on him. Taki nor Origi have nothing to do with that, IMO. In the end, on to Sunday vs Brentford which will be way tougher than last night, IMO.

Truth is that our midfield options really aren’t as good as some would like to think (they really aren’t, we only have one player who can actually competently play as a midfield anchor, Fabinho, and no one else is even remotely capable of playing that role, when you consider City have Fernandinho and Pedri, Chelsea have Jorginho, Kante and Saul it does mean we’re very lightweight when Fabinho isn’t available or off form) and failing to replace our most consistent and available midfielder in Gini, now just looks like a case of chickens coming home to roost in terms of how imbalanced in midfield we’ve looked.

@OMM
Oh well it does mate. It did stop the owners from selling the club to ESL, it also stopped them from furloughing staffs. It also stopped them from looting through ticket prices.
So sometimes moaning and protesting does a job. 😀😀.

14 Jan 2022 11:32:04
But what about moaning on the internet about people moaning on the internet. Does that make a difference? Asking for a friend 😜🤣.

JK23 change the CD, man. It's starting to skip.

14 Jan 2022 12:35:21
Glad to see more and more fans seeing through FSG now, hope it's not too late and we give Klopp big backing he deserves so he signs a new deal himself and builds with real backing summer after summer.

14 Jan 2022 12:55:42
Sorry Oli is that you asking me or telling me. Either way do one it was a bit of Banter with oh Mane mane.

14 Jan 2022 13:47:11
Just exactly what is more fans "seeing through FSG" going to achieve? Absolutely nothing that's what. Fans need to get it through their heads it's not going to change a thing. They don't care.

14 Jan 2022 13:48:12
No harm with me JK lad. I just like to post stuff looking at things from the other side.

Because OMM, sitting back and keeping quiet and pretending FSG are wonderful has led to last night and more, change doesn't come by itself.

14 Jan 2022 17:04:29
Because we never drew a game before last night did we?
