Its obvious we are not going to compete in the transfer market with the likes of Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle etc. so surely we have to put a bit more faith now in the youngsters. Klopp has done it before with Trent but he does have a tendency now to rely on experience over youth.

Thursday night was a good example with both Milner and Hendo playing together when we needed creativity. I really think he needs to give Curtis Jones a run now. I know he's been injured but he hasn't had a consistent run so maybe now is the time.

We have Elliott coming back soon hopefully and I would like to see Neco given a go in a more advanced position. May as well gamble a bit now and see if these boys are good enough and I would spend all our money on paying Salah what he wants as he is World Class and Bellingham if we have the budget as he is going to be a star for 10-12 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bellingham will go to City, Chelsea or United. Even Newcastle and their “project” have more chance than us of signing him. And at 18 years old, £90m+ is more of a risk than FSG would ever consider.

15 Jan 2022 11:46:58
Vvvv Newcastle don't have a project what are you talking about? Our owners splashed 60 million on naby keita the way you speak they've never signed a player. Understand everyone has opinions lad but is there ever anything positive that comes from you mate? I mean it's not like we still have Roy Hodgson in charge and Paul konchesky offering to take free kicks is it? Things really aren't that bad lol.

15 Jan 2022 11:50:02
Actually think we'd have a chance with Bellingham.

15 Jan 2022 12:03:57
We’ve got 3-5 seasons before our big guns (Hendo, van Dijk; Mane, maybe Alisson, Fabinho and Salah, Firmino) are all kaput and need replacements.
There’s no mad rush for an instant overhaul, but we need a steady influx of quality players in over that time.
We’ve got good keeper back-up, Morton looks promising, Elliott looks good if he stays clear of injury.
But FSG will have to buy as well, ideally buy smart but, in the end, maybe 2 or 3 top top purchases are required, the glue that binds the squad together so to speak.
CL football and income are obviously a must over that period.

15 Jan 2022 12:04:39
Newcastle will be playing the Championship next season!

15 Jan 2022 12:16:18
Bellingham won't go to Newcastle to play in the Championship.

15 Jan 2022 12:44:39
It took City about 3/ 4 years to get themselves sorted. I see Newcastle on the same trajectory. And once they’ve got themselves sorted then the league becomes a two maybe three horse race between them, city and Chelsea, as they can and will simply buy the best around, writing them off as some kind of joke is setting yourself up for egg on your face. Our owners have only really spent big when we’ve sold big, Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho being prime examples. So Bellingham really isn’t happening unless we sell a saleable asset, the only saleable asset that would bring that kind of income is TAA. And I can’t see that happening. Also, let’s face it, the minute if we come in with an instalment based offer, any one of the teams with money will simply outbid us and money talks.

15 Jan 2022 12:49:39
We paid @ £55m for Keita, @ £67m for Alisson and @ 75m for Van Dijk or another way of saying it is approximately £200m on 3 players. Jeez just imagine if FSG decide, one day, that they will spend on players. Interesting that the transfer fees we pay are never actually mentioned, I suppose they don’t tally with people’s opinions?

15 Jan 2022 13:14:33
WDW,

You are right but Chelsea, City and UTD splash those kind of money every year mate 😂😂😂😂.

15 Jan 2022 13:32:23
Another nonsense statement TT.

15 Jan 2022 13:33:39
Would FSG have spent that money without the 140 mill sale of Couts though.

Who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️.

15 Jan 2022 13:49:57
On a more positive note I’ve just managed to get hold of hospitality tickets for the Leicester game on 10 Feb. It’ll be my sons first ever game at Anfield and with the price I’ve paid I’m expecting that to finalise Salah’s new contract.

Every cloud and all that.

15 Jan 2022 13:57:52
Over £200 million was raised in the sales of Solanke, Ings, Benteke, Sakho and Coutinho. That's another way of looking at it.

15 Jan 2022 13:20:41
Yeah west Derby. but those days have well gone. Going to have to sell to buy unfortunately now. I know vvvv is negative but he's right on many things I agree.

15 Jan 2022 14:55:36
Maybe this will help:

Why don't us fans keep away from the finances which we have no control over and just all gobble gobble and just support the team and enjoy it while it lasts cause the last time I checked we are still in contention for 4 trophys this season maybe the prem is out of reach but also maybe not so f**k finances and crying about what we can and can't do and just get behind the team? Just a thought.

15 Jan 2022 15:34:02
Redjoe I totally agree with your mate, I don't agree with singing about the tories at the games either, get behind the team it's not a political game.

15 Jan 2022 17:03:56
There’s so many things we have no control over it would be pointless coming onto a Liverpool fan site if we stopped discussing all of them 🤷🏻‍♂️.

15 Jan 2022 18:07:43
Spot on, WDW and Redjoe21. Klopp has spent 570m or do since he got here under FSG but I guess if he is not spending 1bn like Pep did in the same span, FSG are not backing him. The guys moaning about transfers NEVER bring up this point cos it smashes their narrative that FSG don’t spend which is porkies. We should b lucky we have won BIG despite the large disparity in funding BIT they think we are entitled to spending like City do cos we won big. Good luck with that one, fellas.

They know that FSG don’t have the financial might to compete with Oligarchs and sovereign nations funding our main rivals YET talk like they are and they just won’t spend it. There was a poster on here who literally said he preferred the Glazers to our owners cos they spend big at least. Yeah, this is what we have become. Sad.

15 Jan 2022 19:25:23
Oli Red you’ve forgot the amount spent on outgoings which is approximately 460mil and that doesn’t include players released from the club, given that the fans on here says that new contracts count. FSG are sell to buy merchants, always have been and always will be.

15 Jan 2022 19:37:48
But if they bring up sales it smashes their narrative.

Swings in roundabouts.

16 Jan 2022 00:22:27
would chelsea have spent any money last summer had they not sold a bunch of players?

16 Jan 2022 20:17:22
Frode Kippers, I am fully aware of that. The model is sell to buy or spend what we earn. Yeah we sold big. So what? Clubs do that all the time as this may be new to you clearly. A lot of clubs sell to buy. It’s called balancing the books. Ever heard of that?

RM wanted to sign James Rodriguez so they had to sell Di Maria for 65m to fund it. Chelsea sold Morata, Hazard and many others to fund Lukaku, Havertz, Werner and others and our own fans NEVER slam them yet when we do it, they are up in arms when we do it. Take a day off and go actually learn how footie finances work before slandering what you clearly do not understand.
