Specifying Premier Leagues over league titles in general is such a United cope thing to do. As if football began in 1992.

Be good too see that united side or any trying too deal with us, city or even Chelsea. They were in a league of there own barring arsenal in the mid to late 90s and 2000s . Theses squads these days and style of play would run rings round them united sides.

United are our yardstick and vice versa. I want us to be the undisputed biggest and most successful club in the country. I don’t want there to be any debate. I want the mythology and conception of what United are to be dead and buried, nothing but an afterthought. As amazing as Klopp has been we have only won 2 major trophies in the 4 years we’ve been a top team (so far) . In order to cement his legacy we need to overtake United again on the league title front, and if City were to best us again this season i’d be gutted. I don’t think it’s a silly thing to talk about United in that context, just a mark of respect of where we are and what we want to achieve, and if Klopp wasn’t able to do that in all the time he eventually spends with us it would be a disappointment.

Gotta say, the Arsenal Invincibles side is my favourite non-Liverpool team.
They could do everything, quick, athletic, strong, full of skill.
I feel that they’d more than hold their own now.

Juicer before 2016 I would have agreed with you. That Arsenal side were awesome. I still remember us being 2-1 up at half time in that invincibles season and Henry came out for the second half and battered us on his own! Incredible!
I do think that City and Liverpool have taken it to a new level now though. Arsenal did draw a lot of games, 12 in the invincibles season and finished on 90 points. Their longest winning streak was 9 games. Crazily that form would not win you the premier league in this day and age.
Liverpool and City are amazingly consistent. More so than I ever thought possible.

For me, the fact that there are now two teams pushing each other on is the big difference.

Up until JK and Pep arrived the dominant (PL era) teams Arsenal, United were on a level above everyone else that they played against.

Now we have two teams who are better than anything that’s gone before forcing each other to lift their game. The one league point difference over four years is just incredible.

This is the best Liverpool team I have seen in watching the game for 60 years and they seem like they are getting better and now we have the manager probably best suited to managing Liverpool in the world for 4 more years. He (and apparently his missus) ‘get’ Liverpool - the place, the people, the atmosphere, the club, the fans …. (those who ‘get’ it too know what I mean) .

I have to say, for someone of my age, if you’d asked me about 5 or 6 years ago I would have said I’d been very fortunate to see the teams of the late 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Now I think I’m lucky enough to be around to see us having a crack at surpassing everything that’s gone before. Jeez, it’s a brilliant time to be a Liverpool fan.

I am not so sure Jurgen having the finances of City, United or Chelsea would have made a difference. I think he would prefer to pick up gems at a more reasonable fee and turn them into stars. Also looking to the youngsters in the squad. The club seem to be picking up a lot of young talent from other clubs. I may be wrong but this is only an opinion.

Totally agree Gaga, I think there is a strong element of JK looking at the potential the player has and also their character, rather than being dazzled by shiny toys.

Gaga. Theoretically you are right. Klopp is a talent developer and nurturer. He makes players better because he identifies their strong points and places them in positions where those strengths can best be utilized. But, and it's a big but. Imagine Klopp having the finances to buy better center backs last season, than the two we loaned/ bought - Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies. ManCity, ManU and Chelsea would have had no problems on spending 40-50 million for a replacement, if faced with the same situation. If we had the same financial access, and had been able to buy better players, then no shunting Fabinho and Henderson around, and consequently the season would have ended differently. Money is not everything. But it's also not "nothing" at the same time. It's the grease that keeps those wheels turning.
