Remember back in 2012 when we were talking about the other Luis that if only he could improve his finishing he would be world class? Well 10 years later I’m saying the same thing. The difference is that Diaz has been a tad unlucky. Defender and attackers blocking his shots at the latest moment

I called out Diaz when we signed him due to my Colombian connection and knowledge about him already. However even I am surprised how well he has adapted to English football and how quickly.

Im saying it now. He will be winning all awards next year including balón d’or. His ceiling is so much higher than we’ve seen so far and it’s not far away.

Totally agreed mate.

I think Suarez was world class; without a doubt. And his finishing wasn't bad either. He was no Ian Rush but he was more of a number seven and a top class one.
After all he did to us, I still can't deny that he was a superb player for us.
Diaz is very exciting, too. I love his attitude as well as obvious ability. I can't understand how he wasn't much more in demand.

Rigsby, I think he was talking about Suarez in the first season. Mesmerizing footballer, but inconsistent as a finisher.
With Diaz, I have the same feeling. His finishing is just not elite right now. But my God, everything else is. And he looks a lovely guy too.
On a side note, I started watching the Reds only since 2011 onwards, but how good was Sturridge's finishing. If only he could stay fit, he would have finished as an absolute legend of the club.

Rigsby, I disagree. Suarez had world class talent BUT his finishing was pretty poor in his first 18 months under King Kenny. It was Rodgers (credit to him on this one) that turned Suarez into an absolute beast in front of goal starting from the 12/ 13 season where BR created a system to get the very out of him w: Gerrard's passing ability, Studge next to him, Sterling on the right and a young, talented PipCo. Suarez got 20 plus goals in all comps. since Torres that season, as well.

As for Dias, the guy is only going to get better so let's all jut relax and let the guy develop at his own pace. Klopp said a while ago that they are letting Dias play the exact way he played his whole time at Porto so as to let his transition into the team would go well hence, he has not even been fully assimilatad into the Klopp way of playing. When that happens, look out.

In fairness to Suarez, he was given the "foil" role next to Carroll in his first 18 months under Kenny. In hindsight, the whole "big man, little man" was not the best way to get the most out of him and was a disservice to his skillset. It wasn't until we started playing a more free-flowing style of football under Rodgers that we started to play to Suarez's strengths.

Diaz lost the ball yesterday and the determination he showed to immediately win it back was Robertson-esqe.

Him and Konate going to be immense next season.

Side not on Jota, his quality and impact cannot be understated he has done well this season and I believe will only get better.

Oli, so it was the system and playing with better players that allowed Suarez to start scoring?
I would agree. If he wasn't getting chances, he wouldn't be scoring regardless of his finishing.
Maybe my memory is letting me down but I remember Suarez as being a world class forward. I can see Diaz going the same way but I don't think finishing will be his forte and Suarez was the same.

If Diaz reaches Suarez quality then I would be one happy man.

Absolutely Irish, but without the biting and racism.
