Morning all, so I'm wondering, how many of you actually believe we're going to win the lot? because I certainly do. We never do things the easy way so here's what I'm thinking, the only team to stop us is spurs tomorrow, I'm thinking a draw but then City lose to Newcastle on Sunday! I also think they'll lose more points before the end, them getting knocked out of the CL is the best thing that could've happened, we're going to win the league.

Chelsea in the final, I don't even see it been a close game I think we'll steam roll them same goes for Real Madrid, bring them all on, we've got this.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're the ever optimist. I hope so.

06 May 2022 08:55:59
Salah love your optimism mate.

For me the simple answer is are we capable of winning the lot - hell yes.

Will we win the lot - well only time will tell and we only have 3 weeks to find out.

Newcastle were poor against us last weekend so I personally didn’t think they would cause City any problems but the fact City played extra time should leave then physically shattered as well as mentally.

Howe’s been getting lots of media credit recently and a result against City could be another feather in the cap for him so I’m sure he will be highly motivated for the plaudits.

I feel the same. I always thought that the quadruple hinged on the result of the City-Madrid tie. If City went through, that would probably given them the momentum to win the league and make the prospect of winning the champions league a lot harder. Now though, the game has changed.

All of a sudden the narrative is firmly locked on to Liverpool winning the quadruple. The Liverpool players will not only be relieved as they do not have to endure a final against City, they’ll be motivated and driven to smash Madrid after what happened last time. Madrid have quality but they’ve ridden their luck at the Bernabeu and will not be able to do that again in a final. This will no doubt help us in the league games as it really does feel as though it’s on.

On the other side of the coin, City will have a hard time coming back from this. The one trophy they desperately want, the one they thought was finally within their grasp, has been snatched away in the cruellest of circumstances. The ‘bottle jobs’ narrative must be playing on a loop in their heads. They can now ‘only’ win the league, and somehow have to find a way to get up for the next four league games. Tired, injury ridden, having just played an exhausting tie with extra time, demoralised, doubting themselves. We don’t need them to play well below their level, just 10 or 20 percent less with their eye off the ball and it could be enough. Their adrenaline will have been dumped, the fatigue will set in.

How do you get yourself to go again? They might do, and win all their games with ease, but I don’t see it. I think it will be really difficult to get all the results they need after that.

Honestly can't see City losing to Newcastle. Wolves, West Ham are possible dropped points. Its the business end now. Keep the squad healthy and rotate when we can and we certainly are in with a massive shout. Just imagine!

06 May 2022 09:16:21
Anybody who thinks City will drop points is overly-optimistic imo. The only way to get over the semi loss is to put it behind them and go all out in the league. They will not want the humiliation of losing the league as well so unfortunately I can only see them putting the remaining teams to the sword.

06 May 2022 09:22:23
We will win.

06 May 2022 09:29:22
Let’s hope Newcastle at least get a draw. City will be drained mentally and physically from the Madrid game so now is as good a time to play them as any. Also, West Ham getting knocked out of the Europa is a good thing for us as they now have to play for their European place and Moyes will want to finish above United, so they might get a result against City.

06 May 2022 09:35:15
The fact West Ham went out last night is a plus. They now need league points to qualify for Europe next season.

But there again will they just be as deflated as City from losing their semi.

If that’s the case I’ll take a 0-0 draw between them with both sets of players too upset to even have a shot.

06 May 2022 09:49:52
I just can’t see city dropping points. Also it could come down to injury’s. I know there’s only a handful of games left but they can happen at any point in the season! Chelsea only have the cup to play for so I think it will be harder than most think. I have everything crossed though.

06 May 2022 10:00:00
We don't need City to lose any of those games. We just need them to draw any one of them PROVIDED we win all our games.

As to Salah's question, I have said it before. We CAN win the lot and I will continue to dream of us doing the Quad till I can dream no more.

06 May 2022 10:25:31
I'd make us favourites to beat Chelsea and madrid, city still favs for league. pity they didn't have tougher game than Newcastle at weekend, wasnt impressed with Newcastle last weekend, didn't think they played a glove on us, we should've won 3r4. West ham is big hope in league, hopefully they beat Norwich at weekend and full week rest til city match where they need points to qualify for europa again. also it mark noble last match at home, they will want to give him good send off.

06 May 2022 10:31:37
If the league was in our hands then I would say yes because I think we are very capable and will probably win our remaining games, but I also think City will as well.
I would have us as favourites against Chelsea and Madrid but Madrid do worry me, watched them quite a bit in the champions league and they have that something special about them, that never say die attitude and momentum, but we owe them a good clobbering…
I still think it’s unlikely to do the lot but it’s still very much possible.

06 May 2022 11:17:29
Wish I shared your optimism, Salah. Newcastle and Wolves are on the beach. Wolves downed tools weeks ago and even their own fans have given up on them. West Ham, granted, need points and are our only hope. Villa don't have a cat in hell's chance of getting anything. I am confident we will win all ours though.

06 May 2022 11:49:20
Problem is going into a final as favourites on the grand scheme of things means absolutely nothing.

We were massive favourites going into the 2nd legs of Inter, Benfica and Villarreal.

I hope the players go into the finals thinking they are the underdogs and knowing they need a great performance and to scrap for every ball to win both.

Because that’s how the Chelsea and Real players will be feeling.

06 May 2022 11:50:45
As i have said countless times, have people ever actually watched a title race? Teams with nothing to play for have a say all the time. Just because a team has nothing to play for it does not mean they’re ‘on the beach’ and will just roll over and happily lose every one of their remaining games. It’s nonsense. They’re professional footballers, the way some talk about them you’d think they’re school children.

06 May 2022 13:53:10
If the leauge was in our hands Salah I would say yes. I do not believe we will loose or draw again this season. So in games we affect we will win and end up with a treble.

I just don't see City loosing or drawing. If it is to happen it will be Sunday, still suffering form the disappointment of Madrid and having to shake off extra time etc. But I wouldn't be surprised if they rolled off 4 straight 4-0 wins.
Its all they have to play for now.

Having said that if they did slip and we won the lot would that make it the biggest failure in the history of the league. Baring in mind the resources they have, the squad they have, the manager they have and the 14 point lead they had in Janurary? Or would it just be seen that this Liverpool team is simply the greatest to ever play in the Premier Leauge era? And deflect from. wjat a total disaster this season would be for City.

06 May 2022 14:04:34
I think ManCity are shaken after the semifinal debacle, and they are ripe for someone to take points off from them. I think they've all taken a kick in the g*nads, and that's not only painful, but you remember it for a while.

06 May 2022 14:19:43
That was 120+ that City played. And then lost, there’s every chance that Newcastle might see this as a chance to get about them and take points.

06 May 2022 14:49:09
If we beat Spurs I’ll believe.

06 May 2022 15:14:31
The league is looking less possible. but I've had my fingers crossed for a while now. bloody awkward.
The cups we're having 100%.

06 May 2022 15:17:09
1jj, we definitely need to do that first, for sure.

06 May 2022 15:58:17
I believe we'll win the CL. To be honest, even when Villareal levelled the semi final tie, I was in no doubt that we'd still progress.

I just have an inkling that Chelsea might successfully bore us to death in the FA Cup and snatch it. Even though on paper it's a game we should win, given the respective form of the two teams.

League, I dunno. I'm confident we'll win our remaining games, but it might not be enough. City did show that their mentality can let them down midweek, but it's a case of is anyone they have left to play good enough to take advantage. If they falter, it'll either be this weekend or on the very last day, imo.

06 May 2022 16:33:50
For the past bit I've thought the league is not happening but the rest may. But recently I wonder if a certain narrative has turned in our favor.

Theres one team that teams don't show up against out of fear or lack of belief. Up until now that has been City. Remember we used to complain about the watfords, etc playing out of their skins against us but rolling over for city.

Newcastle absolutely rolled over for us despite their brilliant form. They may play out of their skins trying to claim a big scalp in City. Maybe teams are beginning to just not even begin with a belief they can get anything from us before the whistle is blown but will try and take that city scalp, instead of ours.

Heres hoping.

06 May 2022 17:01:41
I try not to think about it. One game at a time, please. Let us be humble, Redmen.

06 May 2022 17:26:11
It would be nice to win two more, I'm certainly not expecting all three. I do think that we will win the FA Cup, but I am not confident about anything else.

06 May 2022 17:33:40
Salah, I honestly believe we will win the lot. No question in my mind.

06 May 2022 21:08:04
Don’t Newcastle have Trippier and Wilson back for Sunday? Not world class players but decent on their day and both will be chomping at the bit and it might lift the rest of the team.
Plus after their recent good run they won’t want to lose 2 in a row.
Depends if Pep can do the Heimlich Manoevre on his squad and get that Bernabeu sized grape out of their throats in time.
We’ll see but I’m not losing hope of all 4 just yet!

07 May 2022 09:11:10
Salah - when I started reading your post, and before I saw who it was, I thought there's only 1 person this could be - Salah!

Not seen you post for a while, so welcome back, and I hope all is well with you.

I am full of hope for the quad but feel City will double down now and take the PL.

But what a season we are having with real excitement until the very last match! .
